The War
Hey guys, I know I skipped a song (Farmer Refuted) Which is heavy on the Ham, if you know what I mean. No? Never-mind. I wanted to do another one from John's perspective, even though the last one was in his perspective. I want to explore a differently side to him, and I wanted to do that in his perspective... so sorry for not posting, things got busy, here's another chapter!!!
<John's POV>
Here we are. Standing side by side, ready for the general to come in. Alexander had become one of the group, and my crush on him still remains. I scan the rows and rows of people looking for Alexander. When I finally spot him, I notice that he's singing to himself. I can faintly hear him, and I recognize a build up to a phrase we say sometimes.
"Rise up." We say in unison. I catch his eyes for a second before he smiles courageously and looks at Lafayette.
"Rise up." All three of us say, nodding to the beat of Alexander's song. Hercules joined in, and I noticed he winked at Lafayette as we all said "Rise up, rise up!". I saw that Alexander got nervous and looked at the ground.
"Here comes the General!" The rows of people said, sounding military. (Well you're in the war... so...) I saw Burr walk up to Alexander and talk to him. I felt a surge of jealousy pulse through my veins, but I just looked away. I didn't pay attention to what he said, I just closed my eyes and thought about home- "gEORGE WASHINGTON!!!" Burr shouted, introducing the new General.
"I'm gonna need a right hand man." said the General. I glanced at Alexander who seemed discouraged at seeing Burr's determination. "INCOMING!" The General shouted, referring to the British canon ball that had come flying into the air. It was time for battle.

I rested my head on my pillow as my roommate got undressed and fell asleep. Once I was sure he was asleep, I began to undress.
I took of my binding and stared down at my body. I hate it. I hate how my body curves with femininity, and how my reproductive organs were what they were. I hate myself. I fell onto my bed, softly crying into the sheets. I covered myself up and blew out the candle. I cried myself to sleep and dreamed about things that could happen after the war.

I rubbed my eyes. Is it already morning? I yawned while I waited for my roommate to be done getting dressed. Once they left, I hurried and got my binding on. I wrapped it around my chest as I looked for a shirt. I put on my uniform and raced out the door. I didn't want to be late.
I got in the rows we were in yesterday but this time, Alexander was right next to me. "Did you hear the General? He said he's looking for a right hand man! That could be me! He called me to his office earlier, but I haven't gone yet. I'm so nervous, I-" I watched as his eyes followed Burr, who walked into the General's office. He sighed and looked back at me. "There goes my chance at being something important." Something important. He's something important to me!
"Excuse me, Sir?" Another soldier tapped him on the shoulder. "Hm? Yes?" Alexander said as he turned around. "General Washington asked to see you... again." The soldier muttered and walked away. "Can you believe that? He asked to see me, of all people, right now!" Alexander jumped up and down. He's so cute when he's excited. "Go go go! Before you're late!" I said, cheering him on. "Later, Laurens!" He smiled and ran off towards the General's office. I "Aww"ed in my head as I watched him open the door. I gave him a thumbs up before walking away, smiling to myself.

That chapter definitely broke my personal record on this app. 614 words, which is a lot... to me. Other writers write like 1,300 words every chapter, but hey, I'm new at this. Bye!
