New York - The Sleepwalker
"Let me get this straight," Eagle said, running out of breath. Queen Bee and Eagle had been fending Style Queen off together for a while now. "That's Audrey Bourgeois, this guy named Hawkmoth possessed her into a villain, and the only way to get everything back to normal is to break a special object and purify an akuma?"
"We can't purify it without Ladybug, I don't think. She had restoration powers, you see," Queen Bee stated. Style Queen was surrounding them in a cloud of glitter.
"So how do we get Ladybug?"
"I don't know! I don't know how to do any of this!!" Queen Bee said, falling into panic.
"Hey, calm down, this may be my playground but this is a villain you have experience with. Together, we have an advantage."
"Not without Ladybug we don't! Even if we defeat her we need to catch the akuma! I can't do shit with it!"
"I know how to help you," Eagle said, putting a hand on Queen's shoulder. She closed her eyes and suddenly Queen Bee could hear Eagle's voice in her head. "Liberation!" she said before speaking to her mind, "I am freeing you of your reluctance and self pity. You will be able to see yourself the way you want everyone to see you."
"What?!" Queen bee rose a brow. Eagle pulled her hand away.
"Feel better?"
"Yeah, I guess?"
"I am the hero of emancipation. Freedom is sort of my thing."
"What else do I expect from an American superhero," Queen deadpanned. "Alright, let's kick her butt." She felt a thousand times more confident now. She felt the eyes of the world on her, but never was it overwhelming. She felt proud, excited, and eager to show New York who the best hero on the Miracle Team was.
"She's made of glitter, maybe if we can trap portions of the glitter in different locations, we can defeat her!" Eagle suggested.
"Eh, it's worth a shot," Queen Bee said.
"Excellent idea!" came a new voice. A bald masked man in a purple dress suit leapt into the hoard of glitter with them. He had little antlers coming from the side of his mask which told Chloe that this was another miraculous user. "I am Doorman! The hero of teleportation!"
"Doorman!" Eagle exclaimed in relief, "we need to separate the glitter piece by piece, can you-"
"Of course I can!" Doorman boasted, suddenly disappearing into the golden sparkly cloud. There was a flash of purple, and then another, and then another. As the golden haze thinned out, Queen Bee was able to see Doorman opening doors and windows, transforming them into portals, and capturing the glitter in them. After about a minute, there was not much left of Style Queen. She reformed herself but huge chunks of her glittery body were missing.
"You brat!" Style Queen snapped, pointing a hooked finger at Queen Bee. "Hawkmoth wanted me to unmask you and I chose not to for your safety! And this is the thanks I get?! Ridiculous! Utterly ridiculous!"
"Wait, you keep your identities hidden?" Eagle whispered to Queen Bee who nodded in response. "Oh. Well, you're fucked."
"Ha... I know..."
"You're grounded!" Style Queen said.
"You can't ground me!" Queen Bee argued.
"You're my daughter! Of course I can! You're staying with me for the rest of your trip here in New York, and you're going to deal with it!"
"What?!"
"Audrey Bourgeois is your mom?!" Eagle held back a laugh.
"Shit..." Queen Bee grimaced. She looked around and, to no surprise, there were cameras everywhere, "Shit..."
And there went her secret identity.
"I didn't expect to see a villain so... glittery..." Doorman said, still regarding Style Queen. He somehow managed to get her staff in his hands.
"Break the staff!" Queen Bee exclaimed. Doorman didn't question why and snapped the thing in half, releasing a little black moth from it. All Queen Bee had to do was focus. Eagle's power of liberation was definitely influencing her right now and honestly, making her a little rash. But still, she knew she was going to look super cool if she caught that akuma, and maybe people wouldn't piece together who she was beneath the mask.
Queen Bee lunged forward, outstretching her top. She barely managed to graze the tip of its wing with it, whilst shouting, "Venom!" The moth froze like a piece of glass and fell to the ground at Queen Bee's feet. She squashed it underneath her platform heel, hoping that was enough to kill it. But for good measure she also ripped its wings out.
"What happened?" Audrey Bourgeois asked.
"You were akumatized," Queen Bee replied.
"What?"
"Ugh, I don't know how to explain it in english! You went crazy with superpowers~ You were a villain!"
"Don't call me that! I am your mother!" Audrey snapped. The cameras were still filming everything. Chloe basically accepted that this was it. Her hero career was over. Her identity would be known by the world within an hour.
"Let's just get you home," Queen Bee said calmly, reaching a hand out to her mom.
Suddenly a rush of light enveloped them. It was so bright, Queen Bee barely recognized what it was. It looked like the miraculous ladybugs Ladybug had for restoration. But these were... different...
"Thorn!" Eagle exclaimed in joy, her eyes focused on the other end of the street. A green themed superhero was standing there, the one producing the light of restoration. "He rarely makes appearances, especially since Sandboy's been hunting him down more diligently than usual."
"Is that... the miraculous of creation?"
"Yep! The tortoise!" Eagle nodded. The hero named Thorn slowly turned and walked away, not saying a word to him. It was easy to assume he was a very mysterious person.
"Wow..."
***
"That's insane!" Zoe exclaimed, practically shaking Chloe all over the place in her enthusiasm, "you're a superhero!"
"Y-yep."
"Is mom a villain now?"
"No, we fixed that."
"Incredible!" Zoe said, texting someone on her phone, "my girlfriend is going to lose her shit when she finds out you're a- wait..." Zoe clicked on something, "nevermind. The whole world knows."
"Show me," Chloe groaned. Zoe reluctantly passed her the phone which had a million news headlines regarding Chloe Bourgeois being the newest hero to the Miracle team. "Figured as much."
"Was that... not supposed to happen?"
"It's supposed to be a huge secret. Ugh. Ladybug's going to kill me."
"I'll make sure she doesn't," said the voice of Pollen. Zoe started karate chopping the air in fright. "Oh! Don't worry young one! I am just a kwami. I'm the one who gives your sister her powers!"
"Giant bug! A- mouse! A- A FLYING BUG MOUSE!"
"No, I am a kwami," Pollen huffed. She plucked the comb out of Chloe's hair and regained her full form. Zoe screamed a little and threw a couch pillow at her. "You are... so much like your sister..."
"You scared the shit out of me, woman!"
"My name is Pollen."
"Bee puns are not that funny!"
"Oh you are so wrong," Pollen chuckled a little.
"Guys, I need to get out of here," Chloe said, looking down at the streets below through the giant wall of glass. There were hundreds of reporters and news stations absolutely swarming the apartment. "The world knows who I am, I messed up so badly. But what if they think it's Zoe? Probably not, but Zoe, you could be in danger."
"There's no way I could be a hero."
"Most would say the same about me," Chloe muttered. She felt short of breath and panicky.
"Honeycomb, dear, I think we should head back to your hotel. You should never have left in the first place," Pollen said gently.
"Y-yeah. I just... You're right. Zoe, you want to come?"
"No. I need to stay with mom so she can mentally recover from all this. I'll send the reporters away, if you need."
"No, Pollen can take me," Chloe said, grabbing Pollen's hand like a child would with a mother.
"Take care, Zoe," Pollen said with a smile. And then the world lurched forward and ripped in half and Chloe could feel her insides wanting to become her outsides. It was just Pollen flying superfast, it basically felt like teleporting. It was a most unpleasant experience, but she knew when it was over, she could safely return to her hotel room and curl up under a warm blanket, even if she had to share a bed with Kagami.
Well, that could have happened if they weren't literally tackled out of the sky.
Chloe now found herself sprawled on the roof of a trades building, staring up at the smoggy sky, with her head pounding out of her skull. She sat up, and her entire body felt sore. Pollen had also crash landed here, just a few feet away from Chloe. And standing not too far from Pollen was a blobby figure that looked like a chunk of space in the shape of a little boy. It was the same thing that had hijacked the plane that morning.
"Sandboy?!" Chloe said as the name sprung to her mind.
"Flying out in the open like that could get you in some serious trouble, " the little blob boy tsked. The blobbiness shrank away and revealed the same blue starry skinned boy from before. His pointed ears twitched in the cold breeze.
"What do you think you're doing?!" Pollen said, not wasting a second to get on her feet.
"Oh no! I was akumatized!" The little boy said sarcastically, "my parents let me watch a scary movie and it made me so afraid that the big bad Hawkmoth was able to use my negative emotions to make me a villain!" he started cackling cruelly, "oooh!!! Save me Queen Bee~! Save me from the dark side!"
"Shut your mouth you wretched fiend!" Pollen said, attempting to jab him and paralyze him with her fingers. He moved so fast it almost appeared that he'd vanished into thin air. Now the little boy stood directly beside Chloe.
"Hitting kids is condoning public abusive behavior," Sandboy said, still giggling.
"You're much too old to be a kid," Pollen said with gritted teeth, "you're as old as me!"
"My kwami is, if that's what you're sensing. She's millions of years old, probably older than you even," Sandboy said, "but me? I'm only twenty."
"Twenty?" Chloe tried not to laugh. Sandboy wasn't even close to looking twenty years old. He had the body and voice of an eight year old.
"Oh, I'm sorry, do I appear younger than I am?" Sandboy said. His voice deepened and his figure became taller and older. And now, he was towering over Chloe, with the appropriate body to resemble a twenty year old man.
"How-!?"
"If kwamis can manipulate parts of their appearance, then so can I," he said coyly. Chloe backed away from him.
"You mutilated your poor kwami," Pollen said with a furious expression on her face.
"Oh, she's fine!" Sandboy laughed, "I didn't mean for this to happen," he gestured his body. "You see, I was trying to make a power up for myself. It was going to make it possible for my kwmai, Coffi, and I to escape this place and live peacefully away from the world. She said I could enter the dream realm and live there forever. But then Magestia and her crew barged in and in her attempt to salvage our work, Coffi broke the vial containing the concoction and spilt it on herself.. We tried to escape, but the second I transformed, her body fused to mine, and well, here we are. The heroes villainize me. They say I did it on purpose out of greed. They don't realize they are the reason this has happened, and that Coffi is still alive and well. I can feel her heart and hear her voice. She is with me, and she is in no pain."
"Lovely origin story, but I have to free your poor kwami," Pollen glowered.
"That's exactly why I'm here!" Sandboy said with a villainous grin, "Coffi and I boiled down our options and it's clear that we need the miraculouses of creation and destruction to separate our bodies. Unfortunately, Thorn never makes an appearance and the rattlesnake hero of destruction lives all the way out in California. My plan for years now has been to get Thorn's miraculous and then buy myself a ticket to LA to find the rattlesnake but NOW... Now I have Ladybug and Chat Noir, right here in New York."
"That's why you attacked the plane this morning?" Chloe said, narrowing her brows.
"You catch on fast! Having the abilities of a kwami, I am able to sense their presence. But unfortunately, there are so many heroes in New York that on the ground, my senses are confused. So I need your help."
"I will never give them up to you," Chloe said bitterly.
"Oh, I wasn't asking," Sandboy said, his wicked smile vanishing into a tenacious frown. Wisps of colorful smoke leaked from between his fingertips, creeping slowly towards Chloe, "you are going to help me find them, even if I have to make you sleepwalk to do it."
A/N I did not realize how short this chapter was... IG you can tell I was getting burnt out. Normally the chapters have been 4-6K words and this one is only at 2K. Dude this fic is a monster. I'm about to commit another whole year to this bad boy. Longer really if I truly persue my original grand scale plan. I hope I can build some sort of fanbase for it. Right now this fic only has 7k views here which I know is a lot for some people but for a fic of this size, thats generally pretty small, especially considering that terrible x reader fic that has 358K atm and I'm actually scared of it.
SO PLS SHARE THIS WITH PEOPLE I GET REALLY SAD WHEN I FEEL LIKE I'M WRITING AND NO ONE IS READING
Thank you lol
This is the last of the spam update. The next chapter follows Nino finally so IM NOT A LIAR HE IS A MAIN CHARACTER IN THIS PART OF THE BOOK.
