Misery of a Troubled Artist

"Can you like... try to be a bit more cheerful? You're making this class unbearable."

It was Thursday, and Marinette was in her anatomy class again. Ms. Mandeleev had everyone super busy with work, and Marinette could hardly even think about anything else. Alya seemed to have no problem multitasking, easily blabbing Marinette's ear off which got on Ms. Mendeleev's nerves. In the back of the class, Lila Rossi was pestering Nathaniel, a quiet, reserved kid who most always was drawing.

"I'm sorry Lila," Nathaniel mumbled. Lila was in no mood for putting up with anyone's behavior. Even the littlest things, like Nathaniel being quieter than usual, seemed to bother her immensely.

"You really think the world revolves around you, don't you?" Lila rolled her eyes.

"Um... what?" Nathaniel responded.

"You look like an anime protagonist," Lila sneered.

"I-I'm sorry?"

"Lila, you're being disruptive," Ms. Mandeleev barked.

"Am I being disruptive?" Lila asked innocently, "I am so, so sorry!"

"Enough, Lila," Ms. Mendeleev sighed. "Now, I will be assigning group projects for your digestive system presentations. So- Nathaniel!" she snapped. Nathaniel jolted upright in surprise, "What are you drawing?!"

The woman had suddenly materialized directly behind Lila and Nathaniel's desk. Nathaniel's cheeks went bright red in embarrassment, the eyes of the class now glued to him as if he'd been placed under a spotlight.

"And these artistic endeavors are clearly going to get you an F in my class if you don't learn to shapen up!" Ms. Mandeleev remarked, picking up his sketchbook forcefully.

"I'm sorry..." Nathaniel said, trying to get his sketchbook back. She slammed it back on his desk furiously.

"I will not allow you to draw such inappropriate things in my classroom!" Ms. Mandeleev said, "Is this going to be a problem?!"

"N-no ma'am-"

"You draw weird things," Lila commented.

"They're n-not weird!" Nathaniel stated.

"I've asked you time and time again to put that sketchbook away, at this point, I ought to send you to Mr. Damocles!" Ms. Mendeleev sharked on him.

"I won't do it again!"

"That better be true! I'm not kidding around!" With that, Ms. Mendeleev clicked her heels all the way to the front of the class again. She certainly was quite an irritable woman. "Now, your assigned groups will go as follows: group 1, Adrien, Nino, and Alya. Group 2, Sabrina, Chloe and Marinette."

"Oh no," Marinette groaned, flopping her head onto her desk in anguish.

"Ms. Mendeleev?" Chloe raised her hand, "Can't you add her to another group? Sabrina and I work much better on our own."

"This is a group presentation, not pairs. Deal with it," Ms. Mendeleev replied.

"I hate dealing with it," Chloe muttered under her breath.

"Group 3, Juleka, Ivan, and Mylene. Group 4, Max, Alix, and Rose. Group 5, Nathaniel, Kim, and Lila," Ms. Mendeleev announced, "Are there any questions?"

"I can't believe I'm with Chloe!" Marinette groaned.

"I'm sorry girl," Alya said sympathetically.

"This is going to be the worst!"

"Maybe you and Sabrina can get along?"

"As if," Marinette complained.

The end of the day had come and Marinette felt her brain was already in shambles just thinking about this anatomy project she'd have to grind through with Sabrina and Chloe. It was as if her day had to be ruined. Bad luck even.

"Forget it Sabrina," Chloe scoffed. She and Sabrina stood by Chloe's locker as the blonde put away her things. "I don't have time for some dumb presentation. Besides, now you have Marinette to help you."

"Ok, that's fine Chloe!" Sabrina smiled, nodding her head, her red hair bobbing ever so slightly. "We'll do all the work, don't worry!"

"Um..." Marinette approached them cautiously, "Is everything ok?"

"Ugh, it's FINE Marinette," Chloe rolled her sea blue eyes. Sabrina poised herself to take up as little space as possible, her face almost mousey as she nodded in agreement with Chloe.

"Well then, why can't you help us with the project?" Marinette asked.

"None of your business!" Chloe snapped.

"Actually, since I'm part of this group, it is," Marinette placed her hands on her hips with disdain.

"It's alright Marinette," Sabrina said joyfully, "You and I will do all the research for our project, and Chloe can present it! That way it's equal!" Her voice was meek and soft spoken, afraid of judgment.

"That's not equal at all!" Marinette exclaimed, "Is that how you two work?"

"Yeah!" Sabrina said, as if excited by this, "We started doing this when we met in grade school, and I started helping with her homework. We've been best friends ever since!"

"And do you have a problem with that?" Chloe snarked. She grabbed Sabrina to leave, "Come on Sabrina."

"Sabrina, Chloe's totally taking advantage of you!" Marinette said, directing her attention to the girl with the red bob. "You don't have to do what she says, that's not how a real best friend acts!"

"Agh, not only am I Sabrina's best friend, I'm her ONLY friend. We're taking care of each other, so why don't you just leave yourself out of it!"

"Well I'd rather have no friends than be friends with you," Marinette remarked.

"And I have more important things to do right now. I have a hair appointment in five minutes, so, have fun you two. Later!" Chloe spun around and strutted away from the two. Marinette groaned and went to her own locker, already tired of having to be in their group.

"Marinette!" Sabrina exclaimed, practically jumping on Marinette with excitement. "I can't believe you stood up to her like that! I mean, I've been meaning to talk to her about it for years now but I never did because I was afraid of losing our friendship but-" Sabrina began to ramble.

"I-it's ok?" Marinette shut her locker.

"We can work on the project and tell Ms. Mendeleev not to give Chloe any of the credit, sound good?"

"Um..."

"I mean, I don't want to be mean of course... But it's like... I dunno..." Sabrina brushed her fingers nervously through her short hair.

"It's alright," Marinette assured, "Why don't we get a headstart on that project?"

"Of course!" Sabrina certainly had too much energy, and it was all bubbling at the seams at this very moment.

"HELP!" a familiar voice shrieked. Lila came barreling down the locker area at full speed, a brigade of guns chasing after her, suspended by the air. "HELP! SOMEBODY! PLEASE!"

"Oh my god-" Sabrina clammed up.

"We gotta get out of here!" Marinette exclaimed. She pulled Sabrina off into another hall, Lila's screams echoing about the chambers. That's when Chat Noir came bursting into the same hall, just as Lila stumbled and fell to her knees.

"Watch out!" Chat Noir exclaimed, jumping between the guns and Lila. Lila instantly got up and ran, as Chat Noir began striking the guns with his staff. None of them were firing, though their presence was incredibly daunting and threatening.

Sabrina had vanished from Marinette's side. Fear must have gotten the better of her, and she'd run off. Marinette disappeared into the bathroom, enabling herself a secret place to transform.

"What on earth is that?!" Marinette demanded to know as Tikki flew from her purse.

"Probably another akuma!" Tikki said, "Now get on with it!"

"Alright, alright! Spots on!" Marinette exclaimed. A flash of pinkish light consumed her, replacing her clothes with the familiar red suit of the ladybug. The damage it had taken in her last battle was no longer there, the suit as good as new.

Ladybug ran from the bathroom, only to find Chat Noir and the mysterious floating guns were gone. She searched about the school, unable to find Chat Noir, or a possible akuma victim.

"Nice of you to drop in," Chat said, appearing behind her. "Oh, your suit's fixed?"

"Y-yeah. Guess so," Ladybug said, glancing down at herself.

"I haven't been able to find the villain, I just know they're targeting that brunette girl," Chat informed.

"So we should find her before something bad happens then," Ladybug nodded.

"I'm with ya," Chat said, leaping up into the opening over the school gym. "I think she ran out, so search the streets."

"Got it," Ladybug said, leaping up to join him. It didn't take the two long to find Lila tucking herself into the depths of an ally, looking utterly terrified. They both ascended down in front of her, hoping not to scare the girl.

"Gah!" Lila jumped, "Oh- it's you two... superhero people...?"

"We're Ladybug and Chat Noir," Ladybug said, "We're here to protect you."

"Do you know where the villain is?" Chat asked hopefully.

"I don't know WHERE he is, I just know who," Lila folded her arms.

"Who is it?" Ladybug asked.

"His name's Nathaniel," Lila stated, "He's all mad that I exposed his crush on this girl named Marinette. Now he's some freak monster guy who calls himself the Evillustrator."

"Crap," Chat mumbled, "We need to find him. What does he look like?"

"He had like a... a graffiti mask on? You know, the ones to filter out the chemicals. His skin was a purplish color too... I think," Lila answered.

"Chat, stay with Lila. He's bound to come after her. I'm going to look around and see if he's going after anyone else," Ladybug said.

"Sure, but be careful, we don't even know what his powers are." Chat Noir looked worried.

"I'll be fine. I'll find you later, don't get lost or anything!" Ladybug said, leaping into the air and disappearing over the rooftops. She carried herself all the way over to her family bakery where she jumped onto her bedroom balcony and disappeared into her room. "Spots off."

"What are you doing, Marinette?" Tikki said, the second she was released.

"I have an idea, but I'll need my phone for it," Marinette answered, pulling out her phone.

"Ok but-" Tikki gasped, ducking back into Marinette's purse to hide herself.

"Tikki?"

Marinette glanced up, hearing a strange sound coming from her window. Her body froze. Nathaniel, or at least what used to be Nathaniel, stood in her window, the glass vanishing into thin air. He jumped inside her bedroom without saying a single word.

"I-it's you! Nath-"

"Evillustrator," he corrected, not looking at her even once. His hair was pulled into a low ponytail where the tips were a faded deep purple color. He wore a graffiti mask, and the rest of his face was covered by some black fabric that only his eyes could be seen through. His eyes didn't even have pupils. His skin was the color of lavender. He wore a ripped vest, a gray undershirt, and dark gloves. At his waist was a belt that held a variety of graffiti cans, and on his wrist was an artist's tablet.

"What are you doing here?!" Marinette demanded.

"I trust you," he said, still not looking at her.

"B-but why did you attack Lila?!"

"Because she's cruel."

"A-are you going to hurt me?" Marinette asked.

"You?! I could never hurt you! We've known each other for too long." It was true. Marinette remembered a time in middle school when the two used to hang out more often. She used to actually be taller than him, and now he'd grown to be a whole two heads taller than her. He was likely the tallest kid in the class, possibly even taller than Ivan. Back when they used to hang out, he'd been more sociable, and sweet. He smiled more, he seemed to actually be happy.

But in recent years, he'd grown to be more reserved. He'd become distant from Marinette, though they'd still kept in touch. Marinette knew something was wrong, but he was never open to talking about it.

"Th-that's true..." Marinette said, "B-but why come to me? Are you alright?"

"Yeah I'm fine, why?"

"... Nathan... you broke into my house, that's why."

"O-oh, did I? Oops, that was my bad. Here, let me just fix the window," Evillustrator said, pulling up the tablet on his arm. He took out a stencil and drew Marinette's window on the tablet. Immediately, the bedroom window was back to normal. He looked back at her, "A-anyways, I was thinking... well it is my birthday today and..."

"Oh- it's your birthday?! I totally spaced it! I'm so sorry!" Marinette said, trying to act calm and casual. If this was Nathaniel, she'd be more or less fine with him being here. But he was akumatized. He wasn't himself. She didn't know what was going on inside his head.

"Y-yeah," Evillustrator stammered. "My parents... nevermind. I was wondering if we could hang out?" Marinette clammed up. She remembered Lila revealing to her and Chat Noir that Nathaniel had a crush on her. She didn't exactly like where this was going, but she was forced into a position where there wasn't much she could do about it.

"Ah well... Now's not really the best time," Marinette said nervously, "You see, I have that school project to work on and I need to sort some things out with Sabrina..."

"P-please Marinette! I-" He stopped himself. He looked absolutely broken, though Marinette could hardly see the expressions on his face.

"Well... maybe. But on one condition," Marinette said.

"What is it?"

"You can't hurt Lila anymore."

"Oh- of course! Th-that's... that's fine, yeah." He seemed like he was contradicting something in himself, but he didn't do anything to exactly show that. "So... I'll meet you later? How about at Notre Dame? I just... I need to talk to you."

"O-of course, I'll be there!" Marintte assured. Evillustrator nodded and approached the window, this time opening it rather than erasing it from existence. He climbed out.

"See you?"

"Yep! See you soon!"

And with that, he left.

Tikki flew out from where she was hiding in Marinette's purse. "What are you thinking, Marinette!" she said with a harsh tone in her voice.

"I'm thinking poor Nathaniel's got a crush on me, and his alter ego, Evillustrator, is gonna get crushed by Ladybug," Marinette said with confidence.

"Yes but... how? You can't be Ladybug and Marinette at the same time, and he'll know it was a trick if you don't show up. It'll only make things worse if you ambush the poor thing!" Tikki argued.

"Well... maybe we need Chat Noir to fill in then, hm?" Marinette said, "I'll need to give him a call. Spots on!"

She transformed into Ladybug and immediately grabbed her yoyo. Tikki had informed her about the technology of the weapon, it could do more than just purify an akuma or summon a lucky charm. She could also use it as a phone to communicate with Chat Noir.

"Come on, pick up," she said impatiently as the yoyo rang.

"You can't just fly out of here and then make cat calls, Ladybug," his voice answered.

"I'm sorry, that wasn't cool," Ladybug said. "But you can leave Lila now. I need you to protect someone else instead. Her name is Marinette Dupan-Cheng, she lives at the Tom & Sabine Boulangerie Patisserie, near where we first encountered the akuma."

"Uh... uh huh..?"

"The Evillustrator has a little crush on her, and promised not to harm Lila as long as she agreed to hang out with him for his birthday," Ladybug explained, "While he's distracted, I want you to take him down."

"What about you?" Chat asked.

"I'm uh..." It was at this moment she realized she hadn't come up with an excuse for herself. "I'll be nearby. But Evillustrator can't see me so you'll be alone. I'll catch up with you later, will you be ok?"

"Hah, please, it'll be a sinch!" Chat Noir declared.

"Good. I'm trusting you to do this."

"And I will succeed."

"Alright, now hurry!"

With that, she hung up. She quickly detransformed, not knowing how fast it would take Chat Noir to show up at her house. She hurried downstairs, making sure to avoid her parents' notice, and left. She hoped it would be easier for him to spot her if she stood outside. She nearly jumped in fright when she opened the door and came face to face with Sabrina.

"Gah! Sabrina! You scared me!" Marinette said, settling down.

"Oh! Sorry, I was just waiting for you," Sabrina said with an all too hopeful smile, "Did you get my messages?"

"Uh... No. I'm sorry. The whole incident at the school really freaked me out so I had to run home." Marinette said.

"Oh.. y-yeah. I didn't see the villain, so I'm pretty sure we're safe now."

"You can never be too sure." Marinette chuckled nervously.

"I think we're in the clear. Wanna work on that anatomy project?" Sabrina piped up.

"Well... uh... I'm actually busy right now."

"Huh? Really? You know, that's so fascinating!" Sabrina chimed sarcastically, "You know who else uses that excuse all the time?"

"Uh... no?"

"Chloe! You're acting just like her!" Sabrina exclaimed, "are you expecting me to do all the work just like she does?!"

"N-no! That's not it!"

"Yeah, sure," Sabrina said coldly, "Well, maybe try and respond to my messages. At least do SOME of the work."

"I will!"

"Yeah, right. I'll report this to Ms. Mendeleev if you don't!"

"You don't need to do that! Look, it's not due till Monday. We can work on it tomorrow, sound fair?"

"Yeah whatever," Sabrina said snappishly. She quickly turned on her heels and stormed off. The second she was gone, someone new quite literally jumped down from the roof. Chat Noir.

"Well that was hard on the ears," he said, looking back at Sabrina who was irritably marching away.

"Uh... hi."

"Allow me to introduce myself," Chat said charmingly, "I'm Chat Noir, pleasure to make your acquaintance."

"Um- yes." Marinette suddenly felt incredibly awkward. "I'm Marinette? What are you doing here?"

"Well, I hate to break it to ya, but that lover boy of yours is bad news. And I am here to protect you," Chat said coolly.

"G-great! That puts my mind at ease..." Marinette said. She seriously prayed he couldn't recognize her as Ladybug. Tikki had told her that it would be impossible to figure it out without someone physically seeing her transform, or her choosing to tell someone, yet still, she still felt anxious about it. "So... what do I do?"

"Keep him distracted, I'll do the rest. Where will you two be meeting?"

"The Notre Dame, I believe."

"Perfect, see you there!" Chat said before hurrying off and disappearing over the parisian rooftops.

***

The Notre Dam was absolutely stunning, especially at sunset. The way the lights reflected over the canal, the lamps that illuminated the bridge, everything was perfect. It was a miracle it wasn't currently being bombarded by tourists, so Marinette figured it must have been closed for repairs.

It didn't take her long to find Evillustrator. He was sitting on the rooftop of a small tourist boat that he'd likely drawn himself. Lanterns lit up the boat, placed perfectly around its edges. It almost felt romantic, other than the fact that Marinette dreaded having to be there.

"Happy birthday," she said kindly, hoping to get his attention. He jumped, looking startled by her sudden voice in the previously quiet atmosphere. Only the hum of cars and chatter of people throughout the surrounding city could be heard. It was rather peaceful. It possibly could have been enjoyed by Marinette if she wasn't about to face an akuma victim without the aid of her superpowers.

"Marinette!" Evillustrater sounded happy to see her, but something was being masked by his posture that hid a true emotion he kept buried. He leapt down onto the stern of the boat, next to where she stood. "Thank you for accepting my invitation."

"Of course! You're my friend," Marinette said, trying to mask the slight fear she had. She was unfortunately a solid five feet and one inch tall. Nathaniel towered over her. She'd never felt intimidated by him for all the years they'd known each other. There had once been a time when she could have called him her best friend. She didn't know what had happened between him, or what she had done to push him away.

"Right... friend..." he said, looking rather sad or even disappointed. "Here, let's sit." He guided her to a bench upon the boat where they both sat together.

"So you made all of this? By drawing it?" Marinette asked.

"Y-yeah," he said bashfully.

"You're so talented!" Marinette said, hoping to ease the mood.

"Th-thank you," Evillustrator replied, "You know... people don't really appreciate my art."

"How come? It's incredible!"

"Well... I guess it just... disappoints people I guess? My dad wanted a son who was strong and... masculine. I'm the only child in my family, all my cousins fulfilled their parents expectations but I... I failed them."

"Because you're an artist?"

"No... Well, yeah." He sighed. "The life of an artist is hard, trying to make money and all that. But it's the one thing I'm good at! And it's my dream to share stories and illustrate them. I have an idea for a comic, but I'm horrible at actually writing it. It doesn't matter though, my dad would never allow me to even try."

"But you're eighteen now! You're an adult!" Marinette said, hoping Chat Noir would make an appearance soon.

"That doesn't matter. I want to go to art school, but I need my dad's support and money to even go to any sort of college, you know?" He looked pained. "But even if I did all the things he wants of me, I'd still be a disappointment."

"You're not a disappointment Nathan," Marinette said, putting a hand on his shoulder. She caught a glimpse of Chat Noir in the corner of her eye. He stood crouched upon the bridge as their boat passed underneath it. Marinette feared Evillustrator would see, so she did something she didn't imagine she'd have to do tonight.

She planted a quick, gentle kiss on the side of his graffiti mask. He looked surprised by this, his eyes widened and his shoulders tensed. She gave him a soft smile, hoping she'd be able to keep him at bay from noticing the vigilante. However, she didn't want this to last much longer. She hated the idea she was toying with his feelings.

"M-Marinette... there's something you need to know," Evillustrator said, still stiff.

"Go on?" Marinette said. She already had a feeling she knew what he was going to confess.

"I'm gay," he stated rather abruptley. Marinette was instantly taken aback. That was incredibly unexpected.

"You- what?"

"I'm gay," he said again, tears now brimming his pupilless eyes. "And that's why... all this happened..."

"What?! How? What?"

"I'm sorry Marinette," he said, turning his head away from her, "I've ruined everything. I'm sorry if I disappointed you."

"No! Not in the slightest! I just... didn't expect that," Marinette assured.

"I haven't told anyone. Well, I came out to my parents about a year ago, and it's been really rough ever since. We got into a really bad fight yesterday, and my dad threatened to kick me out if I didn't man up and get a girlfriend," he explained, "And so I figured... Maybe you could be my girlfriend. Maybe something is wrong with me. But... It feels so wrong. I'm not going to just use you like that, you're my friend."

"Nathan..."

"And today I was in a group with Lila and she started teasing the idea that I was gay, but I didn't want anyone to find out so I panicked and said I was in love with you! And I'm not! I'm sorry!"

"No, no, no! You have nothing to be sorry about!" Marinette exclaimed. "You didn't do anything wrong, I swear! It's ok, I promise!"

"R-really?"

"And Lila's an asshole for pressuring you into doing that," Marinette said, "I'm so sorry. And you don't have to tell anyone else if you don't want to, but just know that I'll always-"

Suddenly Evillustrator began to twitch and contort, as if he were being possessed.

"N-Nathan?!" The twitching didn't stop, in fact, he looked like he was in agony. "Nathan?! What's happening?!"

"H-Hawkmoth-" was all he said before shoving her forcefully off the bench. He grabbed one of the graffiti cans from his belt and aimed it at her on the ground. He had a new look on his face, an expression of hate and anger.

"Nathan, this isn't you!"

"I'm Evillustrator!" he snapped. Immediately, Chat Noir's silver baton struck the ground at Evillustrator's feet, forcing him to back off. Marinette scrambled away, getting back on her feet. Evillustrator began to laugh, a low chuckle that soon evolved into that of a maniac.

"I think someone needs to calm down!" Chat said, leaping down between Marinette and Evillustrator.

"He's acting strange!" Marinette said.

"Yeah, he's akumatized," Chat said, swinging his staff to strike Evillustrator in the gut. Evillustrator countered this by spraying paint from the can in his hand, pointed directly at Chat Noir. Chat immediately screamed in pain, the red paint forming burns across his skin and catching his jacket aflame.

"Your miraculous will be mine! Where's Ladybug?!" Evillustrator demanded, pulling the can back and switching it for a green one.

"Holy shit! What was that?!" Chat tore off his jacket, throwing it to the ground where it was still on fire. His suit beneath formed a collar near his neck, but to Marinette's surprise, it did not have sleeves attached. His shoulders and arms down to his gloves were now completely exposed. His face had suffered from the burns, but other than that, he was ok.

"Where is she?!" Evillustrator growled.

"On a secret mission!" Chat remarked, "Busy, gone, took a flight to LA."

"She better be here when I get back, or else she-" he pointed spray paint to Marinette- "will suffer the consequences." And with that, he drew something on his tablet. Instantaneously, a box formed around Marinette and Chat Noir, imprisoning them. Evillustrator then took the opportunity to disappear, likely in search of Ladybug.

"Well, he could've taken my ring but... he didn't," Chat said.

"Oh lord, are you ok?!" Marinette fussed. The burns on his face weren't terrible, but that didn't mean they weren't painful.

"I'm pretty sure I have a high pain tolerance," Chat replied as if this was a perfectly fine situation. He hit his staff against the walls of the box, desperately trying to break it open.

"Here, place your staff on the roof and extend it," Marinette instructed. Chat Noir followed this and the box lifted itself from them, freeing them both from the cage. Chat then picked Marinette up and carried her to the paved road on the outskirts of the canal.

"I gotta go, will you be alright on your own?" he asked.

"I'm fine, now hurry!" Marinette beckoned.

"Right," Chat said. He used his baton to launch himself into the air, leaving Marinette alone at the Notre Dame. The second he was gone, Tikki came back out of Marinette's purse.

"He'll definitely need help," Tikki said.

"Yeah, spots on!"

Ladybug used her yoyo to maneuver around the city of Paris in search of Evillustrator. There's no telling where he had gone, or what had happened to him. Had Chat Noir already found him? And what if he needed her immediate help? Paris was absolutely breathtaking on this particular night, but Ladybug was too concerned with protecting it from Hawkmoth to truly appreciate its beauty.

"Sup Ladybug." Chat appeared next to her upon a roof she'd positioned herself on to look over her surroundings.

"Oh, hey," Ladybug said, too focused to give him much attention, "Do you know where he might have gone?"

"He must have gone after that Lila girl."

"Right... the only problem is, where's she?"

"Well, well, well," a voice said from behind them. They instantly both turned to face him, Evillustrator. "In the comics, this is what's known as the final showdown," he said, pulling out his green spray paint again, pointing it at Ladybug.

"Look out!" Chat said, shoving Ladybug aside just in time. The paint hit neither of them, though any surface area it touched it burned through as if it were an acid. He capped the paint and put it away, bringing his attention to his tablet without a word and drew something. That very something appeared at his side, a massive circular saw blade which flew straight for Ladybug.

"Ah crap!" Ladybug said, barely dodging it. Another was copied and sent straight for Chat Noir. He captured its center with his baton, but just barely in the nick of time.

"Sadly, those who get in my way, get erased," Evillustrator said darkly. Using his tablet, he began erasing the ground beneath their feet. Chat stumbled and fell, barely holding onto the edge of the building they stood upon which was a lofty hundred or so feet in the air. "Before you go, I need that little ring of yours."

"Lucky charm!" Ladybug exclaimed. A blindfold fell into her hands.

"What are you gonna do with that?" Evillustrator smirked as he approached Chat Noir who helplessly dangled over the edge.

"I... hmm..."

"Ladybug! Come on!" Chat exclaimed.

"Give me a second!" Ladybug said, jumping into the air and landing herself behind Evillustrator. He turned, grabbing his blue spray paint to defend himself. The two began to brawl with their fists, and every time he used his paint, ice would form where it landed. Her body felt numb, now becoming frosted and icey, but she pushed onward. After what seemed like forever, she managed to tie the blindfold round Evillustrator's eyes.

"Hey!" He instantly dropped the paint can and his stylus. Ladybug quickly grabbed the pen as he fumbled about, trying to get the knot untied. She quickly snapped the pen in two, releasing the akuma which had manifested itself inside it.

Ladybug captured it with her yoyo, instantly purifying it. When she released it, it was a humble white moth that could do no harm. Nathaniel was set free.

"Wh-where am I?" Nathaniel gasped, becoming his usual self once more. Chat Noir climbed back onto stable ground.

"Some... random building. I think it's a bank?" Chat answered with a  foolish grin.

"Nathaniel, right?" Ladybug approached him.

"You know my name?" Nathaniel asked with confusion.

"Marinette told me," Ladybug said. "You gave us quite a scare there. You alright?"

"Wh-what did I do? I don't remember anything..."

"You were akumatized," Chat Noir said bluntly, "Cause you had feelings for a girl."

"That's not-" Nathaniel shook his head, "Nevermind."

"I'll have Chat Noir take you back to your house, since I'm about to transform. But please, Nathaniel, be careful. Everything will be ok," she assured. Nathaniel gave her a confused look, perhaps scared about what he may have unknowingly revealed to her. She gave him a kind smile, before hearing a beeping sound coming from her earrings, telling her it was time to go.

"I'll take care of him," Chat said, "you better hurry and get out of here yourself."

"Right. Thanks, Chat Noir," Ladybug said. She took the blindfold she'd previously summoned and tossed it into the air, "Miraculous ladybug!" as she said this, the world around them began to mend. All damage caused by the Evillustrator was erased, making everything as good as new.

Sorry for the low image quality on all of these. My computer won't load them on wattpad for some reason every chapter, like they've all been rejected except when I use mobile so the quality drops and it may be pixilated.
Also either the next update or the one after I will be doing a kwami dump of ALL the kwamis with fun facts about them, power descriptions and lore in general that you may be missing out on if you don't follow my tumblr.
