Epilogue

This book must end on an even numbered chapter: thirty-eight. Thirty-seven just won't do. That's right, this is the end. "The End" the end. But do not worry! Miracle Box will return when a few of the characters, perhaps even Marinette and Adrien's whole class, go to New York for a rewrite of the New York special which will explore the North American Miracle Box and introduce some new heroes to the team. Endings are sad, and quite frankly, this isn't the happiest one. It's a cliffhanger, DUN DUN DUN!!! So just keep reading this fic and don't worry about it.

With Dusuu now awake, the heroes realized that every new attack from Hawkmoth was going to be more powerful and threatening to the city of Paris. Hawkmoth had more power, yet for some reason, he wasn't using it. He was remaining silent. Christmas break was silent. Parisians were already rejoicing, foolishly ASSUMING the Miracle Team (that's what they decided to call themselves) had defeated Hawkmoth. None of the kwamis had any word on Dusuu's existence which was odd, since Daizzi had previously been able to see into his dreams and get a vague idea of what was going on.

"Maybe Hawkmoth's on Christmas break too," Chat Noir said, sitting with Ladybug on a bridge over the Seine. It was a few days before Christmas.

"Or maybe he's plotting something," Ladybug said with a more serious tone. Chat Noir nodded.

"Not even Volpina has returned. Why would she want the fox miraculous anyways?"

"I don't know, but I haven't been able to track her civilian self, Lila Rossi, either."

"Right... Lila Rossi," Chat Noir gulped.

"You know, when she trapped you in an illusion... you seemed pretty freaked out. What were you seeing?" Ladybug asked gently.

"A memory," Chat Noir said after a beat.

"Oh, well, you don't have to talk about it, if you don't want to," Ladybug bumped his shoulder with hers.

"Thank you." Chat Noir let out a sigh of relief. Ladybug frowned. He wasn't going to talk about it. She didn't know how to help him or if she even was in the place to help. Volpina had said some things to slightly hint at it, but one thing was clear. His illusion he saw wasn't the cage that Volpina showed to the others.

"You're a wonderful person, Chat Noir," Ladybug hummed, "I just want you to know that."

"Th-thanks," Chat Noir grinned, "I think you're pretty miraculous yourself."

Chat Noir looked at his ring and wondered if he should finally tell Ladybug about his curse or not. I mean, the curse was gone now. He finally talked to Plagg about it, and yes, Plagg was embarrassed, but he wanted Adrien to discover it all on his own—which he did. Like "surprise! I kissed Tikki and now you can have an almost normal life!!!" But he held his tongue. A part of him was so used to feeling the curse there that he didn't quite believe it was gone. Besides, maybe he was a little embarrassed about it himself.

"I think I should go now," Chat Noir said, getting off the rail of the bridge.

"Oh? This time you're the one leaving first?" Ladybug smirked at him.

"What can I say?" Chat Noir shrugged, "I've got a date."

"A date? And you didn't tell me?!" Ladybug said with a giddy grin. "Who's the special girl?"

"Can't tell ya, it would compromise my identity."

"Too bad," Ladybug sighed.

"I think they're waiting on me though, so I should really hurry up," Chat Noir said. For some reason, he'd picked up Ladybug's hand and kissed the back of it. Very smooth, 10/10.

"Alright Chaton, I'll see you tomorrow."

"See ya!" Chat Noir said and hurried off.

Yeah, that's right. Chat Noir, had a date. A date with Kagami Tsuguri. Ignoring the formal dance they went to together, this was their first official date and it was giving Adrien butterflies in his stomach. He hustled his butt to an outdoor skating rink and found a place to transform into Adrien a few blocks away so he wouldn't look suspicious. There wasn't any snow, but it was still very very cold. Luckily, Adrien had a jacket.

"Good evening, Mr. Agreste," Kagami said as soon as Adrien found her car around the block of the ice rink.

"Mx. Tsuguri," Adrien bowed foolishly. He decided that Chloe was right, and that he should let a little bit of Chat Noir into his normal life.

"Did you walk all this way?" Kagami asked, stepping out of their self-driving car. Yes, Kagami's family was also ridiculously wealthy. The car could even talk, which sometimes freaked people out.

"I was in the area," Adrien said, taking their hand in his.

"I hope you know how to skate," Kagami said, dragging him along with her to head towards the rink.

"Of course I do! Otherwise I wouldn't have agreed to this!" Adrien said.

"Right, but you also tend to be a people pleaser," Kagami said bluntly.

"Ey- that's harsh."

"It's only the truth," Kagami giggled. They quickly reached the rink and they took Adrien to one of the empty benches. "Skate up," they demanded, sitting Adrien down. Kagami was a very forceful, blunt person, which was often taken as rude behavior. But Adrien understood them. Strict families with a lot of money meant you had to assert yourself and you could get anything you wanted. Adrien was just bad at the asserting part.

"Alright, so..." Adrien began taking off his shoes to exchange them for his skates, "what do you want for christmas?"

"Hmmm," Kagami hummed, already slipping on their skates. How were they so fast?! "I don't know. Maybe a new fencing mask. Mine's getting kind of old, and it smells a little on the inside. A new sword would als be nice. What about you?"

"Er... I don't know?" Adrien shrugged. He wiggled his feet into his skates and began lacing them.

"There's gotta be something. I mean, your dad could get you anything."

"A chocolate croissant."

"Pardon?" Kagami snorted.

"A chocolate croissant. I used to have them every Christmas when I was a kid but when my modeling became more serious, it just poofed into thin air."

"Well, if you come over to my house, you definitely can have as many chocolate croissants as you want. We'll have Buche de Noel too," Kagami said and got up off the bench. They offered a hand to Adrien which he gladly took. "Lets see how well you can actually skate," they said, their competitive side revealing itself.

"Better than you think," Adrien insisted and the two made their way to the rink.

"I can't believe he's got a date!" Marinette groaned into her pillow. Tikki was in a foul mood, which was normal, but more so lately than ever. She wasn't willing to listen to Marinette, especially when Marinette was refusing to take off the ladybug earrings. "He didn't even tell me he was dating someone! And I kissed his cheek the other night, UGH!" Marinette began kicking her legs against the bed in frustration, diving face first into her pillow in shame.

"Jealousy is stupid." Tikki scowled.

"It's not jealousy!" Marinette exclaimed, "I am simply embarrassed."

"We should be working on finding Dusuu while he's still free of a holder."

"Plagg's letting Chat Noir go on a date, surely I'm allowed to have girl talk with you!"

"I don't like girl talk," Tikki crossed her little arms. "Carapace is training to be the new guardian, so we're not going to get much help from him. And Tigre Rouge never returned her miraculous, wo she's somewhere out there on her own, probably looking for Trixx. And if Chat Noir is dilly dallying on a date, you're the only one left to be responsible."

"Tikki come onnnn!" Marinette groaned and rolled over, "I'm seventeen. I deserve to have a life too, you know. Sometimes I wish..."

"Fine. What do you want?"

"Girl talk."

"No."

"Ugh!" Marinette dragged her hands down her face, "please Tikki! I'm tired of always talking about hero stuff with you!"

"Well, fine! If you ask me, instead of being jealous of Chat Noir going on a date, you should make a move yourself and find a boy! Wow! You'd be even!" Tikki said sarcastically.

"Pfft, it's not a competition," Marinette said, "I just think it's... unfair." She smiled.

"Uh huh. Well, if you don't mind me, I'm going to be studying your akuma board and notes, and hopefully, I'll find something." Tikki said and flew down from Marinette's loft.

"Study it all you want, you'll still be stuck in the same spot. We always are," Marinette mumbled that last part.

Marinette's phone buzzed next to her in her sheets. Expecting it to be a message from Alya, Marinette lazily picked it up.

"EEP!" She threw her phone out of her hands and managed to nail Tikki straight in the head down below.

"What was that for?" Tikki growled.

"L-Luka-" Marinette scrambled out of her bed and picked her phone up off the floor, "he texted me."

"Great. You found a boy," Tikki said and pulled out the map of akuma's Marinette had been working on, completely dismissing Marinette.

Marinette stared at her screen, a million thoughts racing through her head. If she responded right now, she'd look too eager. But if she waited too long he would know she was waiting too long and she'd look eager again. And if she waited too long he would feel ignored. And what if he knew she saw it!? Was her icon on instagram saying she was active? Why would he wait till now to message her? I mean yeah, before Christmas break they had a little conversation over text but it wasn't very long and it was hella awkward.

Ok, so what the message only said "hey," she had the right to panic! She scrambled for a response. It was very cool, right? It read:

Marinette: Hey!

Great. She added an exclamation mark and looked too desperate again. She wanted to self-destruct right here and now. He was also taking a while to respond. Several minutes, in fact. Marinette was in a frenzy now, pacing around her room and pondering many things. But eventually, her phone buzzed with a response.

Luka C: Hru

Apparently Luka also had great conversation skills.

Marinette: I'm good!

Bland response to a bland question. They were literally perfect for each other. A match made in heaven. Yadda yadda yadda yadda. He didn't respond again so she added:

Marinette: wby

Luka C: I'm good too

And then there were crickets.

Luka C: My mom is hosting an open house on our boat on Christmas Eve

Luka C: so u can come

Luka C: if u want

Marinette literally clammed up and dropped her phone like it was a slippery bar of soap.

"He's having an open house party!" Marinette said out loud, as if Tikki cared. "What should I say? Can I even go? Wait-" She threw open the hatch door that was the only way in and out of her room and shouted down stairs. "MOOOOOOOMMMMMM!"

"Marinette, if you want something, come down here so we're not shouting across the house!" her mother responded very loudly for a woman her size. Marinette slipped down the stairs into her room and raced to the living area where her mom was currently folding clean laundry.

"Mom!"

"Yes?" her mom said, not looking at Marinette. She had the TV on as she worked to keep her occupied.

"Luk- Juleka's mom is having an open house on Christmas Eve and Juleka wants to know if I can come!"

"Marinette, we have family coming over. You're grandma visits us once in a blue moon, I swear!"

"But mom! Please!!!!" Marinette pleaded.

"For how long?"

"Huh?"

"How long and when will you be going there?"

"Uh..." Marinette whipped out her phone.

Marinette: When does it start?

Luka C: 5-11

"It's from five to eleven so-"

"We have dinner at seven, you can go at five for maybe an hour... But we can't drive you, since we'll be with your grandparents and your aunt prepping dinner, so you'll have to find your own way there."

"Thank you thank you thank you thank you!" Marinette hugged her mom.

"Huh, I didn't know you and Juleka were friends."

"We're sorta friends. Better now this year than last year. My whole class is sorta becoming a friend group," Marinette said. Only half of that was a lie.

"Is Nathan coming?"

"Huh?"

"Your boyfriend."

Oh shoot. Marinette forgot to tell her they broke up. "Er- maybe?" She didn't know why she didn't just say it. "Actually...." Here it goes... "Nathan and I broke up."

"What?" Her mom set down the socks she was sorting in surprise.

"Well... uh... funny story..." Should she tell her? Marinette laughed nervously and died inside. "It was fake. He's gay and we're really good friends but his parents are weird so I was bearding for him because I didn't have anything to lose or whatever but he deciding he'll be ok on his own for now so we broke up which is great because I think there's a boy he really likes and-"

"Marinette, slow down. I can hardly understand you."

"Uh- He's gay."

"Yeah I got that part," her mom chuckled, "why didn't you tell me?"

"I dunno," Marinette shrugged. Her phone buzzed.

Luka C: It's alr if u can't come. I know Xtmas Eve is really bzy

"Uhh...." Marinette fumbled over her phone, "it seemed really complicated and I didn't want you to think down on me."

"I wouldn'

"We wouldn't think any less of you," her mom said. She had a knowing smile on her face. "You can go to the party with Luka."

"Thank you- wait-"

"I know you're talking to that boy," her mom said.

"You know his name?!"

"He came in the other day asking for you but you weren't home," her mom smiled, "he seems like a nice boy."

"Oh-" Marinette surpressed a smile of her own. "Great-"

"Want to talk about it?" Ah yes. The girl talk Marinette craved.

"No, not right now-" Marinette said frantically.

"Alright then," her mom shrugged. Can you throw in a load of jeans to the washer?"

"Yeah, sure," Marinette said, and headed out. She quickly texted Luka back.

Marinette: I can come! I just have to be back for family dinner and stuff

Luka C: Cool. U need a ride?

Marinette felt her heart skip a little beat. She quickly typed a response and sent it, feeling a new part in her life awaken.

Marinette: Sure :)

To be continued...

A/N Ok for starters this book is 40K words longer than my actual published book (Land of Armonia, you can read it on kindle or by it in paperback on amazon) so thats pretty crazy. (also I wrote this in one year and my book in four so ig I have priorities?) Up next is the New York special which will primarily be about Chloe but still will have a lot of adrienette, lukanette and adrigami in there (I don't ship those last two but I'm doing it for plot lore lol). The special will also introduce Nino's role as the new guardian as well as bring out a new wielder of the horse miraculous which will NOT be Max but will in fact be a character from the show (it's a surprise!!). After that we dive into the rewrite of season two I'm only going up to three btw I'm not insane) where we will explore suit powerups that we've seen in the show and a few that I'm being creative with and making up. I hope you stick around for the future of this fic but as of the moment I will be taking a slight break before NY special is posted. I'm a psychopath and already wrote a few chapters for it. It won't be as long, dw, maybe fifteen chapters. But anyways... thank you all for reading this I seriously love your comments, even when you write me a five page essay lmao pls keep doing that. Go find my art for this on tumblr where I'll continue to make updates on where this is going and some concept art stuff cause fun times require fun things. This fic is really a commitment, damn...
