Chinese Kwami Info (not a chapter)
This is not a chapter update. This is an infodump because this is a rewrite and I wanna show y'all my good work. I will update tomorrow though it might be a little later than usual.
Let's go!¡!
Inner ring:
Plagg and Tikki are the only two kwamis of the inner ring within the Chinese Miracle box. The inner ring is the most powerful ring, as it's kwami's can give their users three different powers/abilities. Plagg and Tikki, just like in the show, are designed to balance one another out. Whatever one of them can do, the other can do the opposite. All the kwamis were created at the same time, however, Plagg and Tikki were the first to be used and have since been the reason why black cats are associated with bad luck and ladybugs with good fortune.
Starting with Tikki:
Tikki is the kwami of creation and presents female (all kwamis do not have a biological sex and can choose a gender that best fits them). She wears a dress inspired by her favorite dynasty, the Wei and Jin dynasty (a time period in which she had the best experience with a wielder and associates the type of clothes with happiness). She can grant her wielder three individual powers, and thus, those transformed with the Ladybug miraculous have a Lucky Charm (ability to create a random object of best use for a specific situation), the miraculous ladybugs (power over restoration) and can bless themselves and those around them with good luck. Tikki has these powers herself, though they are much more powerful than what the wielder gets to have, which often has a bad consequence (such as objects becoming sentient).
She's much more stern and serious than she is in canon. She'll act more harshly on Marinette for her mistakes, though tries to make them into learning experiences. She's not one to try and have fun, though once you get her to enjoy something, she becomes much more pleasant to be around. She cares deeply about the well being of her wielders, and learns from her mistakes. She will not allow herself to make the same mistake twice, and beats herself up over it if ever it should happen.
Fun fact: Tikki is one of the only kwamis willing to show herself in public.
Plagg:
Plagg is the kwami of destruction and presents as male and wears a hanfu that doesn't come from any one specific dynasty, as he never got to leave the guardians sanctuaries over the years after a horrible mistake he made hundreds of years ago which caused the deaths of thousands. He can grant his user three individual powers; the cataclysm (destruction), ruination (mass destruction in the form of a blast) and bad luck, working similar to the power of the ladybug does with good luck. Like Tikki, he has these powers himself, though they are significantly more powerful.
Just like in canon, Plag is a goofball. He's obnoxious, and rude, and has not much regard for the concerns or worries of others. He's often selfish and disrespectful. Unlike Tikki, he's all about having fun. He doesn't understand technology that well but by the grace of Thanos he will still try and master using it. He doesn't show much sympathy for people, and only ever generally gets excited for things involving himself. He doesn't believe in consequences for his actions, and often will encourage Adrien to bend the rules for the sake of rebellion and/or fun.
Fun fact: Plagg is one of six kwamis that don't have human ears, and one of four that have a tail.
Secondary ring:
Nooroo, Wayzz, Trixx, Pollen and Dusuu and the secondary ring kwami's within the Chinese Miracle box. As the name suggests, the secondary ring holds the second most powerful (to clarify that power is based on how many abilities may be passed on to a wielder, and less influenced by actual strength. Otherwise Orikko would be up there with Plagg and Tikki). As all the kwami's are, each of these three are associated with one specific creature, the only change being Nooroo as a moth rather than a butterfly.
Nooroo:
Nooroo is the kwami of transmission and presents as male. He just wears a basic hanfu with chinese inspired robes because I didn't get all into his design for some reason... He can grant his wielder two individual powers, therefore, those transformed with the moth miraculous have the ability to grant power over others, as well as the power of mind which can only be used by those who have willingly accepted the akuma/power. After they have been given the power, they cannot reject the influence of the moth wielder unless the akuma somehow disappears. Nooroo has these powers himself, of course, though just like all kwamis, they are much more powerful than when used by the wielder and may face a severe consequence because of this.
Nooroo is still a timid, shy little guy just like in canon. He's very reserved and often goes along with whatever people say, hence why it's so easy for Hawkmoth to get him to comply with his needs. He rarely chooses to speak, for often, he accidentally will control the actions of others with his words, even when they're not akumatized. Because of this, he rarely socialized with other kwamis and relied on Duusu to keep him in check.
Fun fact: Nooroo is the only kwami who has been kissed by another kwami.
Wayzz:
Wayzz is the kwami of protection and presents as male. He wears an ancient looking chinese armor that he sorta just... combined throughout the centuries to just invent his own thing in a way.... He can grant his wielder two individual powers; Shell-ter (force field) and Shield (increases resistance to attacks). He has these powers himself, of course, but on a much larger scale. In addition to this, those wielding the turtle miraculous actually have naturally increased physical strength.
Like in canon, Wayzz is one of the wiser kwamis. He knows how to set his priorities straight, and what to do in situations where choices may be tough. He's self sacrificing, and has a big heart. He sorta acts like some wise, noble uncle. He struggles to understand humor, but plays along like he does. It's all a game of pretend. He is usually very empathetic (except of course with sarcasm and humor), which would be why he was the only kwami who sensed Nooroo was in distress. He has a very protective nature over the ones he loves, so he wouldn't hesitate to go save them himself, even without a wielder.
Fun fact: Wayzz is the only kwami to have a wielder/master that lasted over one hundred years with him (and is still alive!)
Trixx:
Trixx is the kwami of illusion and also presents as male. You'll never guess what he wears... omg it's just a basic robe. He can also grant two powers onto his wielder; Mirage (illusion) and nightmare (ability to make people see the things they fear most) (yes that's a terrible power for a superhero) (the pig one balances it out so shut up). Obviously he has these powers too though they're often powerful enough to fool himself so he typically refrains from using them. Also, no matter what he says (as well as the wielder of the fox miraculous) will be believed, even if it's an outrageous lie.
In canon, it's hard to figure out Trixx's personality until season four, so I just enhanced the version of Trixx we saw glimpses of and made it my own thing. He's a deceptive, cheating little bastard. Him and Plagg are definitely besites. He's not very trustworthy, and likes to get into mischief for fun. He is a nuisance to deal with and is disliked by a lot of the kwamis from having to deal with his childish, rebellious behavior. He definitely considered giving his miraculous to Lila, before later deciding against it.
Fun fact: Trixx is the only kwami who is aromantic.
Pollen:
Pollen is the kwami of subjection and presents female. She wears a dress from the Ming dynasty, which would be her favorite dynasty. She can grant her wielder two individual powers; Venom (which can paralyze/freeze an opponent), and toxicant (generates a poison). In addition to this, the wielder will have enhanced attack power to cause more pain (feels like a really bad sting). Just like all the kwamis, she has these abilities herself, though they're much more powerful and she has a tendency to accidentally poison herself.
Pollen differs a bit from canon, mostly because we hardly see her actual personality in the show. She's a kwami of glamour. She sees herself as a divine being, and often thinks of herself as higher than "foolish humans". She expects only the best things in life be presented to her, and anything that doesn't meet her standard she will harshly decline. Because of this, it is rare for her to actually choose someone she deems fitting enough to wield the bee miraculous. She used to have a problem with seeing herself as better than all the emperors who'd ruled Chinese dynasties in the past, going so far as to wear yellow robes just to defy them. She really believed she was better and more respectable. Though, over time, she took back this claim by changing the hue of her dress to a more greenish color, which could still be perceived as yellow, a color reserved specifically for emperors. Basically she thinks she's a queen/goddess.
Fun fact: Pollen is the only kwami with blonde hair.
Dusuu:
Duusu is the kwami of emotion and presents male. He wears a robe that doesn't really come from one specific dynasty (that I know of, I could be mistaken) (it was easier to research for the female presenting kwamis on chinese fashion history for some reason). He can grant the wielder of the peacock two individual powers; the ability to generate an amuk (which can be used to create a living being under their control called a sentimonster) and the power to alter the emotions of others without having to say anything. (In use of battle, to make someone incredibly sad or happy would make it hard for them to fight back). He has these powers himself, though they're much more powerful. He can even create an entire being with life, and a mind of it's own, giving it the ability to grow and change.
Sadly we rarely see Duusu in canon as much as we do Nooroo or the other secondary ring kwamis. So I got to make my own version of him. Duusu has a bit of a constantly changing personality that is affected by his mood. He'll go through periods of time where he's very happy and is generally more extroverted and open to others, and as expected, he's very sociable. Sometimes he gets very flirtatious and his personality alters itself to fit the mood. And in times where he's really sad or upset, he becomes entirely opposite to his personality when he's in a positive mood. (His anger is very explosive so all the kwamis work together to keep him calm and stuff so he doesn't destroy a civilization of people or something lol). Despite all this, he's usually really sweet and kindhearted. He wants the best for people, and is easily persuade to do something questionable for the sake of someone else's happiness.
Fun fact: Duusu cries tears of glass shards.
Third ring:
Mullo, Stompp, Roaar, Fluff, Longg, Sass, Kaalki, Xuppu, Ziggy, Orikko, Barkk and Daizzi are the outer ring kwamis within the Chinese Miracle Box. This ring is the third and final ring of the box, and are the third most powerful This of course doesn't mean their abilities are weaker, just that the capabilities their holders have are lesser than that of the secondary and inner rings. They can only grant their wielder one power.
Mullo:
Mullo is the kwami of multiplication and presents as female. Though she does where a hanfu from the Tang dynasty, her robes are more Japanese inspired, as she'd spent a long period of time stationed in the north eastern parts of China and often visited Japan. She can only grant one power to her wielder which is Multitude; the ability to clone one's self into as many smaller versions of themselves as they please. She has these powers herself, of course, though much more powerfully.
Her personality was never really shown in the show, so I made up what I thought would best fit her. Mullo is a timid, shy character. She has a quiet voice, and doesn't like loud scenarios. In fact, she is very easily over stimulated and to recover during episodes like that, she'll find a quiet place to be by herself. She doesn't like dramatic or sudden changes, and often doesn't voice her opinion on things. She's only really comfortable with Sass (snake kwami), as he's also more quiet and reserved. She is the kwami of the mouse, and definitely lives up to the label of being "as quiet as a mouse".
Fun fact: Mullo is the only human sized kwami (aka a lot shorter than everyone else).
Stompp:
Stompp is the kwami of determination and presents as female. Her outfit also derives from the Tang dynasty, and guess what? Boobs. She only grants one power to her wielder, Resistance, making their wielder immune to other powers or magic directed at them. In addition to this, the wielder of the ox naturally has more super strength than the others. She has these powers herself, though much more powerfully.
Stompp hardly has any screen time so I made up my own version of a personality for her. (She is a male in the show, they've screwed it up too many times in the dubbing, giving her a female voice instead which is why she's a girl) (no this doesn't make her trans, she doesn't have genitals lol) Stompp is a fierce, somewhat narcissistic kwami. She is incredibly strong physically, which has lead to the cockiness she composes herself with. Despite this, she's really smart, though has a very bad temper. She can be aggressive at times, which is why she tends to pick wielders who are more calm and composed so that they can balance out.
Fun fact: Her favorite food is bread.
Roaar:
Roaar is the kwami of exaltation (which i found out is 提高 in simplified chinese and sounds very similar to the french and english words for tiger) and presents female. She wears a dress from the Wei and Jin dynasties, and I mean- look at her. She's glorious. She only grants one power to the wielder of the tiger miraculous, Clout, which gives the user the ability to charge their fist with powerful energy that is basically the ultimate KO in a fight. She has this power herself, though significantly more powerfully which is often times too much and she has to limit her use of it.
I made Roaar very energized and excited. She's a mass extrovert by far. To describe her personality, she's a lot like All Might from mha/bnha. (her powers are very close to one for all too... coincidentally) She's a big fan of celebrations and parties, and fireworks are one of her most favorite things in life. They fit her explosive energy and excitement quite well I think.
Fun fact: She is the worst kwami at judging who will be fit to wield a miraculous, so the guardians often don't trust her to find one that won't go rogue.
Fluff:
Fluff is the kwami of time and presents female. She wears an outfit inspired by the Sui dynasty. She only grants one power to her wielder, which is the ability to open portals through time. This is the "burrow" which leads to a multitude of realities and times that only Fluff and the wielder of the rabbit miraculous can safely navigate. Fluff has these powers, and she considers herself omnipresent because of her abilities.
Fluff is very chaotic in the show so I really enhanced that for her. She's a spaz, constantly all over the place and speaks so fast that often it is hard to understand her. She's constantly talking, either to herself, or blabbing herr mouth off to anyone in earshot. She also has a bad habit of talking over people/not letting people speak. She's very superstitious, so topics like that are her favorite to talk about, even when they're ridiculous. She has... very big eyes so she always appears to be surprised or in awe with everything around her.
Fun fact: When she picks a wielder, they're always from any timeline but the present.
Longg:
Longg is the kwami of perfection and presents androgynously. (They use he/she/they pronouns). His attire comes from the Qing dynasty, and yes, it's a feminine outfit. However, her voice is very masculine. They only grant one power to their wielder, which technically sounds like three when described. The wielder can turn into three types of dragons, air, water, and lightning. The dragon varies from dragon designs across many eastern/asian cultures, but dominantly Chinese inspired. Longg has these powers himself, but much more powerfully and can even switch to dragons of other elements such as fire or ice.
Longg kinda has a noble dude vibe in the show and I completely obliterated that. Though she does have a very high esteem of her culture, particularly more ancient practices, she's much less noble and more of a trouble maker. Yes, despite being the kwami of perfection, they're often mischievous or punky. Like Tikki, Longg has very strict rules for picking the wielder of the dragon miraculous, though he tends to be biased about it and would rather pick a trans person over a cisgender person, for no other reason than he just wants someone with the same vibe as him. (She's not cisphobic... if that's a thing).
Fun fact: Longg can switch their body type ever so slightly to range from a more masc appearance to a more fem look whenever they please.
Sass:
Sass is the kwami of intuition and presents as male. He wears a hanfu from the Tang dynasty. He only grants one power to his wielder, Second Chance, which is the ability to go back to a "check point" in time within certain limits. This is good for fixing errors that may have occurred during a fight, but also may trap the wielder of the snake miraculous in a time loop if they keep having to use it. Sass has this ability of course, though he rarely ever uses it.
I kept his personality similar to what's canon in the show. He's very leaderly and big on maintaining order. He likes to have control over things, and he despises chaos. He has a resting bitch face, which makes him look incredibly irritable all the time. Though he's basically the leader of all the other kwamis, he doesn't speak that much and chooses his words carefully when he does.
Fun fact: He loves music and can play a wide variety of instruments.
Kaalki:
Kaalki is the kwami of teleportation and presents as female. She wears a mixed outfit that would have been worn by horsemen, but also performers throughout different generations in the Chinese regions. She only grants one power to the wielder of the horse miraculous, Voyage, which allows them to create a portal and open a gateway that leads to wherever they'd like. She has these powers herself, of course, though she can use it much more quickly and can travel further distances.
This version of Kaalki strays way further away from what's canon in the show. In canon, she's sort of snobby and "womanly", I'd say, with a high ego and stuff like that. However, in my rewrite, I wanted to make her feel more connected to a horse. If you've ever met people with horses, or own them yourselves, you know that most of us wouldn't act in such a feminine, "city girl" way. So here, Kaalki is a tom boy. She's stubborn and blunt but works really hard on tasks she is given. She is strong willed and it is hard to force an opinion on her. She will stand her ground, and she's not afraid to get messy, which is why I gave her choppy hair as to signify. Hahah character designs.
Fun fact: Kaalki is the only kwami who has vitiligo.
Xuppu:
Zuppu is the kwami of jubilation and presents as male. I don't know the name of the outfit I gave him because in my notes for the kwamis I wrote, and I quote, "p a n t s". So I guess I was really excited that I gave him pants or something so sorry, I don't remember the history tied to it. Whoops. He only grants one power, Uproar, which gives the wielder of the monkey miraculous the ability to disturb/malfunction/mess with/alter an opponents power/ability, basically screwing everything up for them. It's the ultimate uno reverse. Xuppu has these powers himself, and can even screw with the powers of other kwamis if he's feeling like it.
We're going to assume we know what Xuppu's personality was like in the show. I've made him a jokester. He likes to play pranks, even when they go to far. He's an absolute troll. He encourages risky, outrageous behavior of others, and laughs in the face of trouble and consequence. He's like that one kid in the class who will make inappropriate jokes again and again, even under the threat of being sent outside. He just doesn't care, everything is a joke to him. He likes entertaining people, and wants to be the center of attention at all times. He likes wielders who have a sense of humor, and absolutely despises seriousness.
Fun fact: Xuppu is arguably the most human looking kwami within the Chinese Box.
Ziggy:
Ziggy is the kwami of passion, and presents female. Her dress comes from the Song dynasty, and is very very colorful as she adores vibrant colors. She only grants one power, Genesis, which allows the wielder of the goat miraculous the ability to create whatever they want, so long they know enough about it to make it. (Unlike Ladybug's Lucky Charm which creates something useful for the situation at hand, the wielder of the goat has to think of something on their own without knowing whether it'll be the solution to the problem or not) Ziggy has these powers herself, though she rarely uses it for fear of looking selfish.
We know nothing about Ziggy from canon, I can't even remember if she was really a girl or not so you know what? We're just gonna go for it. Ziggy is somewhat timid and shy, but she's very smart and quick on her feet. She likes people who are in control of their lives, and know exactly what they want and how they're gonna get it. She's sort of like a Slytherin, thusly, the people she chooses to wear her miraculous are often cunning, ambitious, passionate, and usually creative. She's an artist, and has filled Master Fu's sanctuaries over the years with her artwork which he will later sell to keep the place functioning. She's happy to support, as she prides herself on her helpfulness.
Fun fact: Ziggy rarely ever picks a wielder because she fears people will only use the power for selfish and greedy reasons, such as generating a hoard of money.
Orikko:
Orikko is the kwami of pretension and presents as female. Her clothes derive from the Qin and Han dynasties (and yes, she has hands, her sleeves are just long and cover them). She only grants one power to the wielder of the Chicken miraculous, which I would argue is the most powerful of the miraculous honestly; sublimation, which gives the hero any power of their choosing within reason. (ex: invisibility, flight, teleportation, etc) She has these powers herself, but much more powerfully and with no limitations.
I can't remember ever seeing Orikko actually get a chance to have real screen time. Heck, even when Rooster Bold became a thing we didn't even see her interact with Marc or something so I'm making up my own personality for her. Orikko is very stern and serious, similar to Tikki. She is very noble and thinks highly of herself. She doesn't have time for "nonsense", and believes hardships bring fortune. Thus, when she picks someone to hold the rooster miraculous, it's often someone who has been dealt the bad cards in life and knows the meaning of struggle. In her mind, that is the only way to build someone with a truly kind heart fit to be a superhero.
Fun fact: Orikko once became a concubine to see what it was like. (she didn't like it)
Barkk:
Barkk is the kwami of adoration and presents as female. I don't think her clothes come from any one specific dynasty, but rather a mix of multiple and even a hint of Japanese influence in it as well. She only grants one power to the wielder of the dog miraculous, Fetch, which allows the user to summon any object they've previously touched. She has these powers of course, but is able to summon any object she wants even without having to have touched it.
Barkk is bipolar in the series istg cause at first she was cute and silly and then she became a bossy snappish character so you know what I also made my own version of her. Barkk is a sweet gal, very ladylike and proper. She's kind and gentle, loyalty is a fatal flaw for she loves her friends way too much. She has a dreamy sounding voice, very innocent and pure. Her kindness makes most who meet her fall to adore her in any and all ways.
Fun fact: Barkk tends to pick people to wield her miraculous if they own a Chinese Crested Dog, because "if anyone has the heart to love a creature so ugly, they are worthy of my miraculous".
Daizzi:
Daizzi is the kwami of desire and identifies as nonbinary. They wear old world chinese rice farming clothes because... idk I felt like it just fit. They grant only one wielder to the wielder of the pig miraculous; dream, which allows them to bring the dreamworld/desires into reality. (yes I changed it from the show, gift is stupid) So basically, they can pull dreams people have had and make them real momentarily, which implies they can make greatest desires come true. They have these powers too, though they can also physically enter a dream beind had at current as well as give other people dreams influence by them.
Daizzi........ idk what their personality was in the series so here's what I came up with. Daizzi is a sweet, kindhearted soul who only wishes the best for people. They want people to be happy at all times, and to preserve that happiness as long as they can. They're a definite giver when it comes to love language, and also will not refrain from giving physical attention to the ones they so easily cherish.
Fun fact: At one point in time, the kwamis all thought the pig miraculous to be lost forever. But in reality, Daizzi was just enjoying themself in the countryside harvesting rice for fun.
So what do you think? Who's your favorite? (Mine's Dusuu)
