Accidents just keep happening
It was the middle of the week and Adrien was barely making any headway with thawing the icey cold mood of Nino Lahiffe. Nothing could break this boy; he had an absolute hatred for Adrien without any reasoning Adrien could even think of. He couldn't remember saying a thing to upset him, and boiled it down to the conclusion that Nino disliked Adrien's friendship with Chloe Bourgeois. This brought down his spirits.
He'd begged his father to let him go to public school because he wanted to make new friends. But so far, the only friend he had was Chloe, who he'd known throughout his childhood. He wouldn't complain, of course. Or at least he shouldn't. Chloe was a wonderful friend to him. She was the only one there for him when his mother got really sick, and though she didn't have an experience like that she could relate to, she was excellent at listening to him and cheering him up.
When his mother died, Chloe was the only person in the world he could console in. And she was understanding of the times he needed space and the moments where he needed a shoulder to cry upon. She put up this upfront act to the school, which made a lot of people dislike her immensely. But Adrien knew the real her, the real Chloe. She was no monster.
Occasionally, Nino's walls would break and he'd engage happily with Adrien for a moment. Only for a moment. And then he remembered he was supposed to hate Adrien and go right back to being angry with him over nothing all over again. Whenever this happened he'd turn around and start talking to Alya in Spanish, giving Adrien the cold shoulder.
Marinette was being nice to him, however. His apology must have made her understand him a bit more, and she was more forgiving of his lack in social understanding. In fact, when she noticed Nino ignoring him, she'd talk to Adrien in their spare time. And he had hopes that maybe, just maybe he was making another friend for once in his life.
"Marinette, you will not believe this but I think I can uncover the identities of Ladybug and Chat Noir!" Alya said with great excitement. It was their economic period, in which they were doing nothing. They were supposed to be working on algorithms, but to no surprise, no one cared enough to even give it a try.
"I uh..." Marinette opened up her tablet, "We should be working."
"Don't you wanna hear my plan?!" Alya grinned.
"Sure...?"
"It'll be big for my youtube channel! It's only been a week but guess what?! I've got 987 subscribers!" Alya enthused, "Anyways, they both always disappear right after their fight, right? Almost immediately in fact. I can't even catch them to get a quick interview with! So what if I followed them? See where they go when they're not needed? Unless they're like- droids of course. They have to be real people though!"
"Ah... hah..."
"What's the name of your channel?" Adrien asked, turning around in his seat to face the girls.
"Oh," Alya grumbled something in Spanish as Marinette nudged her painfully with her elbow. "The Lady Blog."
"Cool, I'll subscribe then!" Adrien said, pulling out his phone.
"... Well on that note you should also follow my instagram... alya.ladyblogger ... and while you're at it, do you have Tumblr? Twitter?"
"You have... a lot of socials I take?" Adrien chuckled nervously.
"Guilty," Alya said bashfully.
"Well, I'll give you a follow on... all of them."
"Wait really?!" Alya beamed, "You're a celebrity?! Wait- MARINETTE!" She grabbed the collar of Marinette's jean jacket and started shaking the poor girl violently, "I COULD GET FAMOUS FROM THIS!"
"Relax," Nino said, now joining in the conversation. "It's not that big of a deal."
"What are you talking about Nino, or course it's a big deal ARE YOU CRAZY?!"
"Not really,"
"I could follow you too, if you want," Adrien said to Nino.
"... maybe that wouldn't be so bad...." Nino said shyly.
"Adrien, I wouldn't..." Chloe interjected from across the aisle.
"Chloe, stay out of it," Marinette snapped.
"Adrien, they're just using you!" Chloe pleaded, "They're suddenly being nice to you and it's weird!"
"You're mean to everyone all of the time!" Alya exclaimed.
"And you are being a bunch of assholes towards Adrien because he's some white rich model kid, and you just assume that makes him a dick! I'll have you know that Adrien is one of the nicest people I've ever met!" Chloe said intensely.
"Well maybe because of you we-"
"Enough!" The teacher interrupted their argument. "Alya and Chloe, go see Mr. Damocles. Now."
"What?!" Alya exclaimed. Chloe grumbled something under her breath.
"My dad will hear about this."
"Who are you, Draco Malfoy?" Alya sneered. Chloe glared at her.
"And who are you? You really think you can unmask those two superheroes? You're nothing, Cesaire. You barely have a following, you barely have any friends, you barely count as a human being! So why don't you just-"
"Chloe and Alya! NOW!" The teacher shouted again.
"Yeah, I'm going!" Chloe rolled her eyes, clicking her heels together and storming out the door. Alya reluctantly had to follow.
"What an asshole," Nino muttered.
"She's just... Trying to defend me. That's all," Adrien said, not bothering to even glance at Nino.

Chloe and Alya didn't return after that. Even throughout their next class, the two girls never came back. Were they being punished for a short, heated argument? Or perhaps it had escalated once they left the room...
Adrien was in language arts when the projector suddenly lit to life on the whiteboard. Ms. Bustier wasn't even near the control panel, no one had pushed the buttons. At first, one may have thought it was a little glitch. But then, the projector adjusted, and an image appeared. It was what looked to be a live video, a girl looking dead into the camera with vacant eyes of pure white. She looked an awful lot like Alya, it was uncanny.
"Good morning my fellow Parisians," she said, her lips curling into a smile. She wore a black superhero mask over her eyes, and a set of headphones over her ears which had a mic and short stubbed antenna attached. Her hair billowed out behind her like she was a comic book female heroine, perfect in every way. She wore a deep purple skin tight suit that was so dark it nearly looked black. And tracing her chest was a light blue wifi symbol.
Alya had been akumatized.
"I don't know where our dear, young new superheroes are this morning, so I'm broadcasting this to every screen to share my message," she brought the camera close to her face, "I'm the new hero of Paris. Ladybug and Chat Noir, come find me."
The video went black and the projector turned off. The class just sat there, confused and skeptical of what just happened. Hesitantly, Adrien raised his hand.
"Mrs. Bustier, can I go to the... bathroom..?"
"Really Adrien? Right now? I don't know if it's safe!" Mrs. Bustier exclaimed.
"I really, really, gotta go."
"Alright then, but make it quick!" Ms. Bustier said, frantically trying to figure out what she's supposed to do in a situation like that. Adrien could hear whispers of people, mumbling about how Alya had gone evil.
Adrien hurried off to the restrooms and locked himself in a stall. Plagg flew out of his satchel, which rested at his hip, looking absolutely irritated.
"I wouldn't have signed up for this if I had known there'd be so many supervillains." Plagg scowled.
"I'm afraid we don't have much of a choice Plagg," Adrien said, before saying the transformation words and becoming masked as the superhero known as Chat Noir.
Chat Noir leapt from rooftop to rooftop, eager to find Ladybug before he ran into the akuma victim. He didn't know her powers, it wouldn't be wise to take her down on his own. When he saw the girl in the red hanfu, he hurried over to her. She crouched at the brim of a low building, looking over the streets with great puzzlement.
"Do you know where she might be hiding?" Chat Noir asked as he reached her.
"No clue. You saw her message, right?"
"Yeah," Chat Noir nodded.
"She looked like she was in a bedroom," Ladybug remarked.
"Perhaps it was her bedroom?" Chat offered.
"Most definitely," Ladybug agreed. "I think I know her identity. It's Alya Cesaire, she goes to Le Collège Françoise Dupont."
"So... Do you know where she lives?" Chat asked hopefully.
"Sadly, no." Ladybug shook her head. She stood up next to him. "But maybe she has a friend who does."
"So... Do we go investigate her school?"
"That's a good idea, but who knows who she's friends with," Ladybug said, spinning her yoyo at her side, "but that's besides the point, come with me." She tossed the yoyo back in the direction Chat had just come from and flew off. Chat followed suit, and soon enough, he found himself back at his own school.
"Where do we start?" Chat asked as they gracefully landed in the center of the open roofed gymnasium.
"Check the senior classes," Ladybug said, heading to the upper floor.
"Alright then..." Chat shook his head in dismay, heading off to where he knew their homeroom class to be. Perhaps Ms. Bustier could help.
Something caught his eye, hidden just down the hall. It was the faintest glow of purple emitting from around the corner that neither flickered nor moved. He curiously made his way towards the purple glow, and peered around the corner to see his friend, Chloe Bourgeois. She was frozen in time, the purple glow emitting from her chest where a purple ring had formed. In the center of the ring was the pause symbol.
"Chl- Miss?" Chat waved his hand in front of her eyes which were dilated and unmoving. He snapped his fingers, and she didn't even blink. "Crap," he pulled out his baton to call Ladybug. When she picked up, she sounded excited.
"I have an idea of where she lives," Ladybug reported.
"Great, great. And I know what her powers are... it's not good."
"Pardon?"
"It looks like she attacked one of her classmates. She's been paused, like... like she was in a video."
"She's frozen?"
"I guess that's a better way of describing it," Chat said, looking over Chloe with worry.
"Alright... meet me on the roof," Ladybug said and hung up.
Chat did as he was told, and found her standing at the edge of the open gym rafter.
"She lives in an apartment building just a little ways that way," Ladybug said, pointing over the streets. "The Cesaire apartment. It shouldn't be too hard to find. Do you know anything else about her powers?"
"No. I don't know how she uses it either. Maybe don't let her touch you?"
"Great," Ladybug sighed, "Let's get going."
Ladybug was rather focused today, more worried about this it seemed than the akuma victims of the past. Chat couldn't help but notice that all the akumas–except for Stormy Weather–had been from his class. It gave him hope of finding Hawkmoth. Perhaps he was another kid who attended the school.
When they reached the apartment building Ladybug had mentioned, they were careful to not be seen through any windows. If Alya was in her bedroom, they had to find which room it was before she caught them. Eventually, Ladybug pointed to a set of super hero action figures lined up inside a windowsill, and suggested that it had to belong to her room. The two heroes carefully lowered themselves on either side of the window, pinning their backs against the brick wall of the apartment.
"Ready?" Ladybug asked. But before Chat could respond, a tough fist broke through the window from the inside, so fast he hadn't even noticed it until the glass was splintering down to the sidewalk below.
"Nice of you to join me," came a voice from inside. Chat glanced to the broken hole in the window, just as a phone was tossed out.
"What the-"
Just as the phone began to fall, Alya, as a supervillain, manifested in the air above it's camera, the phone now appearing in her hands. She had teleported.
She threw the phone again, this time at the wall above Ladybug and Chat Noir's heads and just as before, she teleported, now holding on to the top edge of the wall, with her phone in her free hand.
"Shit!" Chat cursed as Alya climbed up the wall, pinning her back to it. She wore a skin tight suit which had an opening where the skin of her thighs was shown, revealing light stretch marks that looked like they could have been painted on like elegant lightning strikes by the brush of a painter. Her boots and gloves hugged her body nicely, and she did in fact look quite like a superhero one might see from a comic... except that she had gone rogue.
"Who do you two think you are?" Alya sneered, "How did you even become superheroes? Radioactive bug?" She sneered, "You're pathetic really, you can only use your powers once before losing energy."
"You know nothing," Chat seethed.
"Chat, she knows more than you think," Ladybug whispered. She positioned herself and ran up the wall after Alya, who evaded her. The two girls made their way up to the roof, Chat following not too far behind.
"Alya you don't understand what's happen-"
"It's Lady Wifi," the akumatized girl growled, glaring at Ladybug with hatred. She held her phone in front of her and swiped across its screen with two of her fingers. A purple light shot out at Ladybug who barely dodged it in time.
"Chat Noir! Destroy her phone!"
"You think you can-"
"Cataclysm!" Chat hollered and lunged at her. Immediately, Lady Wifi vanished, teleporting across the roof where a phone lay. That's when Chat noticed the dozens of phones hidden about the roof. She'd lead them straight into her trap.
"Now that I think about it," Lady Wifi hummed, tapping her lip with her pointer finger, "I should broadcast this. I'm sure people would love to see the action live, especially when I reveal your identities to the world." She swiped across her phone screen, pointing it to the sky where purple light shot out, forming a ring with a camera symbol within it. Next to it, a video projected from nothing into the air, showing exactly what could be seen by the entirety of Paris.
"Why would she want-"
"She's a vlogger," Ladybug interrupted Chat, "She's been to every single one of our fights, it would be her dream to uncover our identities."
"Well crap," Chat said, just as Lady Wifi shot another purple light at him which he barely dodged. His cataclysm swirled around his fingertips, waiting to be unleashed. Ladybug stomped on one of the phones, cracking its screen.
"What do you think that's going to do?!" Lady Wifi cackled, disappearing and teleporting directly over the phone Ladybug had just stomped on. She looked menacing, truly pleased with herself. She shot a purple light down at Ladybug who tried to jump aside but it caught her foot. A pause button appeared, freezing up Ladybug's entire leg in place, immobilizing her.
Lady Wifi cackled in pleasure, stepping down onto the roof with slow, menacing steps. She approached Ladybug who was frantically squirming and trying to get her leg to move, all to no avail. Lady Wifi shot another light at her, catching her wrist and freezing up her arm.
"This is easier than I thought," Lady Wifi hummed.
"Not quite," Chat said, jumping at her, outstretching his cataclysmic hand. Lady Wifi disappeared and reappeared over another phone, a good distance between her and the blond boy.
"Ugh! Lucky Charm!" Chat Noir heard Ladybug shout as she used her free arm to toss her yoyo in the air. A microwave was summoned, falling to the ground with a hard thud. "Oh come on..." Ladybug reached for it, but it had landed just too far away from her.
"Gotchya," Lady Wifi smirked, shooting another beam of light at Ladybug, at the same time Chat lunged at her. A pause button formed over Ladybug's back, freezing her entire body in place. Before Chat could touch Lady Wifi, she vanished into thin air. He staggered, trying to stop himself before he went over the edge of the roof. In doing so, he tripped, his hand accidentally touching the rooftop. Instantly, cracks began to emerge, the whole roof beginning to tremble and quake. Chat attempted to stop it, though obviously, he could not undo what had already been done, and the roof crumbled out from beneath him, causing him, the phones, and Lady Wifi to free fall down the building which was now crumbling apart at the top.
He landed hard on the floor of an empty hall, the destruction slowly coming to a halt as it reached that floor. He looked up and found Ladybug was still paused in time, laying on her side with her hand stretched forward to where the microwave used to be, suspended in air by nothing.
The microwave in which she had summoned was lost. He looked around, finding it was nowhere to be seen. Many, but not all of the phones had been destroyed in the fall. Lady Wifi, however, remained just fine.
"Well, that wasn't what we wanted now, was it?" Lady Wifi said with a cruel smile. Chat barely scrambled to his feet as she tossed her phone up in the air, reappearing with it in her hand, and throwing it again just as she began to fall. She ended up grabbing onto Ladybug, climbing on top of her for some sort of stable ground.
"What is she... no..." Realization spread across his face. He grabbed his baton and extended it straight into the air. Lady Wifi had her hands on Ladybug's earrings, just about to take them off. "Get off her!" Chat shouted, spinning himself around his staff and striking Lady Wifi across the jaw. This caused her to fall, plummeting to the semi destroyed building below.
Chat stabled himself on his staff, clutching onto it for dear life. He looked at Ladybug, worried Lady Wifi had managed to snag an earring. But she was perfectly fine. In fact, the pause button on her back was gone, and she looked alive once more.
"You alright?" he asked her.
"A little shocked, but I'm good." She looked down. "Shit, Chat, did you do that?"
"It was an accident. But you can repair it, right?"
"Chat, there were people in there," Ladybug said with horror in her eyes. "People live here, this is an apartment building!"
"Oh fuck-" Chat said, feeling his heart do a flip. He looked down to the destruction below. And now he could hear the crying. Cries of pain and distress that his ears must have tuned out previously.
"Chat Noir! Look out!" Just as she said this, Chat lost the grounding beneath his staff and came toppling over. Lady Wifi was back on her feet, shooting a multitude of light beams at him. It was a miracle he was unscathed, but he was painfully aware of how little time he had left before his transformation would wear off.
He spotted the microwave in the corner of his eye. A wicked idea popped into his mind, and he wasn't sure if it would even work. He ran to one of the remaining phones one the ground, as Lady Wifi was transporting herself around him at an alarming rate. He quickly tossed the phone into the microwave and slammed the door shut, not knowing if his absurd idea would work.
"Chat Noir!" Lady Wifi sang. He could no longer see her, even as he spun in all directions. She was transporting around too fast. Suddenly, he heard her standing directly behind him, right where the microwave would be. And she let out a scream of pain.
Chat Noir jerked himself around to see her, shaking and screaming in absolute agony. He looked down to the microwave where her leg had clipped through as if she were a video game character glitching through a wall. And then she vanished, taking the microwave with her.
"Ladi Wi-"
She reappeared over one of the other phones, but the roof microwave was still clipped through her leg. Tears streamed down her face from her vacant eyes as she continued screaming to no end. Chat Noir felt frozen, watching helplessly as she frantically teleported from phone to phone, as if the microwave would somehow come off by doing so. At one point, she stopped, taking a breath, trembling. Blood oozed onto the top of the microwave, circling around where her leg had been caught. Noticing this, she wailed and screamed some more.
"Get it off!" She screamed. "Get it off!" She staggered around with her limp, falling directly onto her side and disappearing again. Chat had to take action.
"Hang on!" he hollered, rushing down the staircase covered in debris. He was barely able to hide himself as his transformation wore off.
"I'm guessing we're not done," Plagg said flatly.
"Sorry Plagg, do you have the energy?"
"Pfft, of course I do. But you owe me."
"Alright, thanks! Claws out!"Adrien transformed back into Chat Noir, now fully charged and ready for the battle. He didn't think his microwave stunt would do quite what it did–he expected it to make her fall, trip her perhaps. He didn't think she'd transport through it.
He raced back up the stairs and found Lady Wifi there, sobbing in pain. She had her hands around the bloody area of her leg, putting pressure on it as if it would do anything to alleviate the horrible feeling she experienced. He glanced up to the sky, scared Ladybug had transformed back, unable to move. But she was perfectly fine. She was still in costume, which was rather questionable to Chat Noir. How was that possible? It was likely an effect of the pause buttons placed on her.
Chat rushed to Lady Wifi, summoning his cataclysm. She moved away in fear, but he held her steady with his safe hand as he destroyed the microwave with the other. She let out another scream, tensing up like a stiff board.
"Wh-why w-would you-"
"Release Ladybug," Chat demanded, holding her wrist tightly.
"What?"
"Release her, and you will be healed."
"A-alright-" she said between heavy shaky breaths. She grabbed her phone with trembling hands, swiping across it to unpause the girl in the red hanfu. Ladybug immediately began to fall. She spun around, using her yoyo to swing onto the building safely.
"Chat, I don't have much time!" she said as soon as she landed on her feet. Chat stole the phone from Lady Wifi's hand, slamming it to the ground with as much force he could muster. The screen shattered and a little moth flew out. Knowing what to do, Ladybug threw her yoyo to capture it, quickly purifying it.
"Hurry, the miraculous ladybugs!" Chat said quickly.
Ladybug picked up what remained of her bloodied microwave and tossed the pieces into the air. Beams of light swarmed them, restoring everything to how it was. Chat looked down to Alya, hoping the injury had been fixed. Instead, he found she was unconscious, her leg still bleeding out, just as badly as intensely as it had been before.
"I'll take her to a hospital, you need to hide before you transform back," Chat said sternly.
"Right, hurry!" Ladybug said, running down the hallway which was now restored to how it had once been.
Restoration... How was it that Ladybug had two powers, and Chat Noir only one?
Destruction... there had to be something he was missing. Something Plagg hadn't told him yet.
A/n never thought I'd write microwave horror
