Chapter 12
When I park in the parking garage that was connected to Julian's office building, I take a deep breath to just calm myself down before getting out of my car. Whenever I'm here, people are constantly staring at me because they all know me as the boss's fiance so they were either scared of me or really wanted to talk to me. I've been stopped multiple times by the people that work for Home Our Community here and I would be perfectly fine if they talked about the non-profit, but they don't. They just talk about Julian or my personal life and that's not something I'm up for talking about with a stranger.
I make sure I look presentable before going up the elevator and into the lobby where there were people waiting. Julian was constantly hiring people along with Andrea, who still had her offices settled here. I feel like every time I come here there are about 20 people here that were waiting to be interviewed by Human Resources. Not that I minded because if it made Julian's businesses run smoother, then I was totally up for it.
I walk up to the receptionist desk where there was a man sitting there that I hadn't met before. He looked pretty confident where he is while he talked on the phone to someone. But as soon as he saw me walking up to his desk, that confidence vanished. He stuttered to whoever he was talking to about how he'll need to put them on hold before he sets the phone down to look at me. His face falters when he sees my bruised nose, but he immediately covers up his expression with a smile. "Hi, Mr. Brigg, how may I help you?"
I hold back my chuckle at the fact that everyone already knew my name here. "You can just call me Miles."
The man immediately nods his head. "Of course, Miles."
"Do you know if Julian is in his office? You don't need to tell him I'm here, I just need to know where he is," I ask him and he immediately gets to work to type away on his computer. I look around while he searches for where my fiance is. I notice that a group of people is pointing to me while talking in a circle, but as soon as I make eye contact with one of the women, she quickly says something to her coworkers and they all look away.
"Julian should be in his office. You don't want me to tell him that you're here?" He asks, looking a bit skeptical, so I give him a warm smile.
"Don't worry about it. I'll just go up to see him," I tell the receptionist before giving him a small wave and making my way to the escalator. Once I get to the top of the moving steps, I take my time to get into the elevator. When I step in, I immediately feel the stares of the other people as I make sure to not meet anyone's eyes as I lean against the wall, pulling out my phone to busy myself. With all the people that work here, it's almost impossible to get anywhere quickly. Every few floors, the elevator is stopped for people to either get on and get off. Luckily, I wasn't impatient at the moment since I was just trying to think of what to say when I saw Julian.
When I'm a few floors from the one I'm looking for, I pull out my key card to swipe it. Since I come here every now and then, Julian gave me a card that would make it so I could get up to the floor he's on without having to be escorted. I felt the stares get heavier as the buttons in the elevator go white since my card takes priority against the rest of them. Perks of being engaged to the man that owns the building.
When the elevator doors open on my floor, I step out without looking back at anyone. People continue to stare at me as I make my way through the hallways and cubicles where people were sitting and working. I know I stick out like a sore thumb in my light blue jeans along with my orange Adidas hoodie, but I didn't care at that moment. I make my way to Julian's office before knocking on the wooden door. I expect to hear him immediately tell me to come in, but when that doesn't happen, I knock again. When there still isn't a response, I creak the door open to see an empty desk, which makes me let out a groan.
This meant I actually had to talk to someone here to ask where he was. I close the office door before making my way through the hallways again. I had never been anywhere on this floor except for the hallways and the office, so I felt out of place when I step into one of the cubicle areas. I look around for a person that looks nice and when I spot a woman that was wearing a gray blazer along with a black skirt, I make my way towards her.
She notices me coming up to her, so she puts on a smile before standing up from her spot. I play with the string on my hoodie as I'm consumed with nervousness at meeting a stranger. "Hi, I'm so sorry to bother you. But do you know where Mr. Caldwell is?"
"Oh, don't worry about it," she tells me in a sweet voice that had a slight Australian accent before she looks down at her laptop to check the time. She nods her head before looking back up at me. "Mr. Caldwell is in a meeting. It's over in Conference Room C."
My palms become sweaty as I look around at all the closed doors. I notice a door that was labeled Conference Room B, which wasn't helpful at all. "Uh, would you mind taking me there?"
She smiles again and I can tell that it's genuine and it makes me feel better. "Of course, follow me."
She leads me through the office, definitely getting stares from her colleagues, but she completely ignores them. She motions to a door that was the exact place that I was looking for and before she knocked on it, I spoke up. "Did the meeting just start?"
"No, it should've been over 15 minutes ago, but sometimes they run over. He'll probably be thankful to get out of there since the board members can usually get pretty heated when it comes to making decisions," she tells me with a chuckle before knocking firmly on the door. I could hear the talking cease from inside before the familiar voice of my fiance calls for us to come in. The woman pushes open the door with a sweet smile. "so sorry to interrupt."
When Julian sees me standing there next to her, his face turns to one of confusion as he meets my eyes. "Uh, Mr. Caldwell, may I speak with you?"
I could tell he was hiding his smirk because of the innocent voice I was putting on for him. He clears his throat before gathering his papers in a folder, faking a cough to let out his chuckle. He looks at all the people sitting around the desk before standing from his seat. "We can continue this in next week's meeting. Katy, if you could forward the notes to Jonah, that would be great."
"Yes, sir," the girl he had addressed says before starting to type on her computer. Julian grabs his folder before coming over to the door where I stand with the woman that escorted me here. He looks to her with a look of gratitude as he comes over to set his hand on my waist.
"Thank you for showing him here, Poppy," he tells the woman, knowing that there was no way I would've found my way here without her. The woman nods her head before leaving to go back to her desk. Julian looks down at me with a soft smile before escorting me back towards his office. "did you really have to talk like that around all my board members?"
I give him another innocent smile as I shrug my shoulder. "I have no idea what you're talking about."
He chuckles before continuing our walk towards the room. He pushes open the office door before letting me walk in first. Once I get in there, I take a seat in one of the chairs across from his desk as he gets comfortable in his chair. "Now, what's going on?"
I instantly become nervous again at what we were supposed to talk about. I knew I should just come out with about what happened last night, but I felt like I needed to ease into it. I run a hand through my hair before looking up at him. "My mom's at the house with Ivy and Jonah."
"Ivy told her?" Julian asks, looking curious.
"No, I did, but Ivy needed her. Jonah and her both told me so and I knew it too, so I just called her over. She was a little upset that I didn't tell her, but she got over it when she saw me," I tell him, trying my best to not lower my voice into a whisper because I didn't want to look weak.
Julian's eyes flash with pain as he's reminded of who gave me the almost broken nose, but he covers up the expression by faking a cough and running a hand through his hair. "Uh, that's understandable. But it's good she's there for them. They definitely needed her to help them through this."
I don't know why but I felt the need to cry at the fact that he was skirting around the conversation that we both knew we needed to have. I let out a sigh before taking a second to gather myself before I spoke again. "Are we going to talk about it, Julian? Or are we just going to ignore it forever?"
"Miles," he immediately says, sounding upset and angry at the same time. He sits up in his chair to lean on the desk so he could be closer to me. "let's just take some time before we have this discussion."
And here come the waterworks again. I put my head in my hands as carefully as I could before letting out a shaky breath as a tear drips down my face. I heard Julian moving where he was sitting, but I knew he wouldn't come to comfort me, not now. I think he knew that I would probably lash out or something if he tried to touch me. I pick my head up to look at him and as soon as he sees my face, his face softens before he lets out a sigh. "Julian, we need to talk about this. I know you're angry or upset with me or whatever, but this is something-"
"What?" He interrupts me.
I give him a confused look as he continues to stare at me, looking perplexed. "I know you're angry or upset with me."
"I am not angry or upset with you, Miles. You did absolutely nothing wrong. I'm mad at my father and how he felt like he had the right to touch you," he said, his anger starting to shine through as he spills his feelings. "he hurt you and that's not something he's going to get away with. He deserves to rot in hell because not only did he hurt me when I came out, but he hurt you. He continues to find ways to hurt me."
My eyes soften as I look at him. He looks distraught as he runs his fingers through his hair before he sets his fists against the desk as he lets out calming breaths. "He's not going to get away with it, Julian. I'll press charges if you want me to."
"I want you to," he tells me and I instantly nod my head to silently agree with him. "but I need you to know that you did nothing wrong, Miles. Absolutely nothing."
I give him another confused look as I run my palms up-and-down my jeans. "But you said last night that-"
"Fuck what I said last night," Julian says forcefully before he shakes his head to rid himself of the anger. He takes a second to let out some shaky breaths and I let him, sitting back in my chair to watch him. When he recovers from his rage, he looks at me again with soft eyes boring into mine. "I regret every single thing I said last night. I wasn't angry at you, even though I acted that way. I was just mad at everything, I guess. I know it's not an excuse and I'm not excusing my words because I know they affected you. I know I hurt you and I'm so sorry, Miles. If I could redo the whole night, I would. I would've walked away so I didn't snap at you and I wish I would have."
I shake my head before looking at my hands in my lap. I wish we could redo the whole night again. I wish we could go back in time to where I was telling him what happened when I dropped Nora off. I wish we could just do all of this over again and that's exactly what I'm going to do. I look up at Julian to see him staring down at his hands as well, but when he feels me looking at him, he lifts his head to meet my eyes. "I met your dad."
He gives me a confused look before sitting up a bit. "I know that."
"You said you wanted to redo the night, so let's redo the night. I met your dad," I say to him, giving him another chance to respond how he wishes he would have the night previously. His face clears of all confusion before a small smile graces his lips as he continues to stare at me. He clears his throat, sitting up in his seat a bit more.
"Okay, what about my mom?" He asks, which surprises me because that was definitely not the question that I had been expecting. He notices me falter for a second, but doesn't say anything as I nod my head.
"Uh, well, I didn't technically meet your mom. She was with Nora the whole time and once we got there, I wasn't really allowed to be around her anymore. But your mom didn't seem... bad, I guess? She didn't look angry to see me like your dad did, she was just confused. She just hugged Nora and was there for her through everything," I tell him, hoping I hadn't said anything to struck a nerve.
"My mom's not bad," he whispers to me, running his fingers across the glossy surface of his desk. He opens his mouth to say something but closes it as he turns his head to the side while he squeezes his eyes shut. I wanted to get up to hold him, but I knew that if I did, he probably wouldn't tell me what he was going to say. "she's not bad. She just goes along with everything my father says because she's scared. She used to care a lot about their reputation since they were respected in their group of people, but I have a feeling that's different now if they adopted a daughter."
He didn't sound bitter when he said that like I had expected, but I knew he wasn't too happy about it. "Why would it be different if they adopted Nora?"
"My mom... she wanted a big family. She wanted to have tons of kids and she wanted to give me brothers and sisters, but my father... he didn't want that. He just wanted me, but obviously, once all that didn't seem to work out, she probably persuaded him to adopt a child with them. She probably finally got to call the shots on one thing," he tells me in a whisper, sounding very deflated.
"Julian, I think-" I start, but when a pained expression comes on his face, I immediately close my mouth. I change what I was going to say as I lean forward to grab his hand in mine to support him through this conversation. "when I was at the hospital, a police officer came to talk to me and told me that if I wanted to press charges for assault, I could. He's already being charged with battery against a police officer because I'm pretty sure he hit one of the cops that were there."
Julian nods his head, tightening his grip on my hand. "I want you to press charges, but if you don't feel comfortable, then you don't have to. But he did break your nose, Miles."
"It's not fully broken," I remind him, even though I was kinda wary of that because it definitely looked pretty bad and felt terrible. I had a feeling that the doctor that had taken care of me didn't look at it too well because even though I'm not a doctor, I'm pretty sure it's broken.
He gives me a flat look. "He still hurt you."
"I know he did, so I'm willing to do whatever you want. This is your father, so I'm letting you decide this one. I honestly don't care either way, so I'll press charges for you," I say, making sure to give him a smile to show him that it was alright.
"Okay," he whispers before placing a soft kiss to the back of my hand. "but I really am sorry about everything I said last night. I really should've walked away from the situation for a bit before continuing the conversation."
I stand from my chair before walking around the desk to stand in front of him. He gives me a smile before pulling me into his lap, wrapping his arms around my waist to hold me against his body. I run my hands through his hair as I look down at his serene face as he stares at me. "I know you're sorry about last night and I forgive you. We just have to get a bit better about communicating these things, right?"
"Right," he whispers to me before sliding his hand up my back until it lands on the back of my neck. I smile at him as he slowly pulls my lips to him into a soft kiss that brings butterflies to my stomach. I wrap my arms around his shoulders as our lips run together in feather-like kisses that are barely anything. I deepen the kiss, suddenly feeling this need to be as close to him as possible, but also knowing that we weren't done talking.
When I pull away from his lips, he lets out a groan, making me chuckle. "So we're good? Like we're still getting married?"
He gives me a perplexed look before separating from me a bit to look at my face. "Of course we're still getting married. You thought we weren't?"
I look down at my lap, suddenly feeling guilty at the fact that I somehow thought this entire relationship was over a fight. Yeah, it was bad, but it definitely didn't prompt for us to end all that we've created together. "I don't know. I just... I guess I did. I was scared and overthinking everything and maybe thought that you were so mad that you just didn't want to deal with me or anything."
"Oh, baby," he whispers with a sad look before pulling me into a tight hug. His hand goes up to run through my hair as he lightly rocks us back-and-forth in his chair. "I'm going to marry you and you're going to become my husband, even if it's the last thing I do. You're the love of my life and I'll be damned if anyone gets in the way of that."
I smile at him before connecting our lips again, but this time, I didn't pull away. I felt like we've talked enough and we could move on to do something else. I run my tongue against his bottom lip as his hand slides down my back until it rests firmly against my ass. Julian's tongue runs against mine as I slide my hand into his hair to lightly tug on the strands. I pull his head away from mine by pulling on his hair before settling my lips on his neck. I start to lightly suck on the skin next to his throat as he lets out a shaky breath.
I shift in his lap so I was straddling him, continuing to suck on his neck. One of my hands travels down to press against his groin that was starting to grow. Julian lets out a small moan as I start to palm his cock through his dress pants. I don't know why I was so eager, but right now, all I wanted was him. I move away from his neck to look at him and notice that he had his head back against his chair, just feeling me do what I wanted. "Do you have time?"
Julian lifts his head before checking his watch. "I have like 15 minutes before another meeting, but I can reschedule."
I shake my head, getting off of his lap as he lets out a whine before trying to pull me back. "No need, we can go quick."
His lips change from a pout to a smirk as he stands up to help me take my pants off. He places a kiss on my lips as he starts to unbutton his own pants to pull his dick out. I deepen the kiss again, running my tongue along his as he groans against me when I reach out to run my hand along his cock. I use my other feet to take off my shoes and pants before discarding them in a pile next to his desk. I lightly bite on Julian's lip and that immediately brings out the dominant side of him.
He separates from my lips before forcefully pushing me so he was facing my back. I let out a little squeal when he pushes my front against his desk. I giggle, covering my mouth with my hand as I hope that no one could hear us right now because that would be embarrassing. I hear a desk drawer opening before a bottle is being opened. I turn my head to see Julian pouring some lube onto his hands. "Was that already in here?"
"I'm pretty sure this isn't our first time having sex in my office," he says with a chuckle, reminding me of all the times we've gotten a little heavy in his office. We haven't actually had sex in here for a while just because we've never had much time, but even though we might need to rush now, I needed him more than anything.
"Well, hurry," I whine as he rubs the lube against my hole. I can hear him chuckle as he uses his other hand to push up the hoodie to expose my back. I let out another squeal when he places a firm slap to my ass, definitely leaving a handprint with how hard it was. I moan out, biting on the sleeve of my hoodie to suppress my noises.
"Ready?" Julian whispers, leaning down to press his front against my back so he could kiss my neck. I nod my head eagerly, already feeling him pressed up against my ass. His chuckle in my ear sends a shiver down my spine, but I freeze when he starts to push in. I let out a shaky breath, pressing my forehead against his desk as Julian continues to attack my neck with kisses.
"Are people going to hear us?" I squeak out, making him chuckle into my ear again. I whimper as he pushes in all the way, the pain still present in my body. His hand comes up to run over my sides to give me goosebumps and it helps the pleasure sneak into my body.
"Probably," he whispers into my ear, nipping at the lobe. "so be quiet, baby."
"But-" I go to say, but I'm cut off by him standing up fully before starting to move out of me before pounding in. I bite on my hoodie as hard as I could as a moan threatens to leave my lips. My body starts to rock back-and-forth on the desk as he thrusts forcefully into my body, definitely not holding back. The pain heightened a bit, but I didn't mind it one bit. What's a little pleasure without pain?
My dick was trapped between my stomach and my hoodie, but I was painfully hard already. It's been a while since Julian and I had been intimate that I was already leaking precum, threatening to let go at any moment. His hands were holding my hips, rocking me with his thrusts as best as he could. I could feel tears start to come to my eyes as I continue to bite the fabric that was trapped between my teeth.
I groan against the clothing when he brushes against my prostate, making spots come into my visions at the feeling. My hand reaches back blindly, shaking to get his attention. He instantly grabs it with one of his, intertwining our fingers as his thrusts pick up. He traps my arm against my back while I grip it tightly, still trying to not let any noise slip out. I moan again as he constantly brushes against my spot, bringing me pleasure with each thrust. I couldn't hold it in as my hips start to take control, moving back on his dick as best as I could with the tight grip he had on my hip.
He immediately lets go of my waist, letting me take control while he watches my hips move. I turn my head to the side, catching his eyes as he gives me a smirk. Tears continue to come to my eyes as the tip of his dick continues to massage my prostate. I freeze for a second when spots block my vision again and he takes that opportunity to start thrusting in-and-out again. I take my hand away from his as I desperately need to find something to hold onto.
Thankfully, his desk isn't too wide in length and I'm able to grab the edge of the table, gripping it tightly between my fingers. I could feel my teeth ripping the fabric that was trapped between my teeth still, but I didn't care because it would be much more embarrassing if his employees heard us fucking than having a tiny hole in my hoodie. The fabric traps the noise of my moan when he starts to pick up the pace on my body, letting himself break free.
With the pleasure of him brushing against my spot and my dick rubbing against my hoodie, I knew I wasn't going to last much longer and by the way Julian was acting, he wasn't either. One of his hands runs up my spine, making my back arch involuntarily underneath his touch. My knees were starting to shake with pleasure and they were threatening to buckle, but I held on to the desk to keep them up. Julian lets out a soft moan, also trying not to be too loud. "Fuck, Miles."
"Faster," I'm able to get out with the sleeve in my mouth and he's instantly impacted by my words as he starts to pound in-and-out of my ass. A tear travels down my face as more sounds were trying to leave my mouth at the pressure starting to build in my stomach. I let one of my hands leave the edge of the desk to reach behind me again, needing to hold his hand. He immediately grabs it, squeezing my fingers between his as he was getting closer to his release.
My eyes flutter close as I settle my cheek against the cool wood of the desk underneath me. My entire body was heating up as I rise up on my tiptoes, knowing that I was going to come at any moment. Just a few seconds later, my cock explodes between my bare stomach and the fabric of my hoodie and I scream against my sleeve. My grip on Julian's hand gets painfully tight, but I knew it didn't affect him by his release inside of me. That fire feeling travels from the bottom of my feet and up to my head, making my eyes roll to the back of my head as a moan leaves my lips.
"Julian, Julian," I whimper as I ride out my orgasm. My body was practically shaking in my spot against his desk and there was nothing I could do to help it. When I come down from my high, I let out a sigh as I feel completely sated and relaxed. Julian's hands were running up-and-down my back as he pants in his position behind me.
"Fuck, I love you," he gasps out, leaning down to place hot kisses to my skin. His lips travel up until they meet my lips in a soft kiss, putting me in an even more tranquil mood from all that just happened. I could feel him still pressed inside of me, not that I minded. I could stay this way forever and be completely relaxed the entire time. When I look up, Julian is giving me a curious look along with a smirk and I just chuckle back at him. "you okay?"
I nod my head eagerly against the desk. "Perfect."
He chuckles before standing up completely. I let out a sigh of sadness when he slowly pulls out, creating a small ache around my bottom, but I ignore it as Julian opens his desk drawer again. I don't know what he's doing until I feel a cold feeling against my bottom that must've been a baby wipe or something. My face heats up at that fact and I hide it by burying my face in my sleeve as he continues to clean me up. When he was done with that, he lightly taps my ass. "Turn over, let me clean your stomach."
He helps me stand up on shaky legs before he helps me up so I could sit against his desk. I help him pull up my stomach that was now covered in my white substance and I try to hold back from blushing even more. When he glances up at me, he lets out a chuckle and shakes his head. "Oh, now you're embarrassed?"
"Shut up!" I tell him with a small slap to his arm. He continues to chuckle as he cleans me up entirely before throwing the wipe into his trash can that was next to his desk. He grabs my pants before settling them onto my lap, fixing himself so everything was covered by his pants again. I jump off the desk to pull on my briefs and jeans before plopping onto his desk with a sigh. I lean back on my hands, settling my head back to look up at the ceiling as I try to calm my rapid breathing down.
"Need a minute?" He teases as he settles into his office chair before grabbing my shoes to put them on for me. I help him get my Vans on before looking up at him with a small smile and I could only imagine how red my face probably looked.
"Yeah," I whisper, starting to think about what it was going to be like when I get back home to Ivy, Jonah, and my mom. At that thought, I shoot up in my spot on his desk before rushing to tie my shoe since Julian was taking his time with the laces. "oh, shit!"
"What?" Julian asks in confusion as I shoot off his desk before grabbing my phone and keys that were sitting on the ground. I must've pushed them off the desk when we first started.
"I'm supposed to just be talking to you and then picking up food for Jonah and Ivy. Oh, shit!" I say, rushing to put my items in my pockets before going towards the office door. I'm stopped by Julian grabbing my arm and pulling me back so I hit his chest.
"Take a breath," he whispers to me, running his index finger over my brow. I nod my head before taking a deep breath into my lungs before letting it out. He gives me a smile before leaning down to place a feather-like kiss to my lips. "okay, now be careful. Drive slow because the last thing we need is for you crashing right now."
I nod my head, moving into his arms for a quick hug before opening up his office door. He catches my arm again, pulling me back to give me another peck on the lips before looking at me expectantly. I give him a confused look before he motions for me to say something and I chuckle. "I love you, Julian."
"I love you too, Mr. Brigg," he teases before letting my arm go. I feel stares on me since I was now standing in the hallway, in view of some cubicles that were on this floor. I give Julian one more kiss before making my way towards the elevator. When I'm a few feet away from him, I turn around to see him still staring at me with a cute smile on his face as he watches my retreat.
"I'll see you tonight?" I ask with an innocent smile.
"See you there," he tells me before giving me his signature wink. I chuckle as he slowly shuts his office door, waiting until I'm turned around completely to let it latch closed. I hurry towards the elevators, knowing I'll be in deep shit if I don't get back home with food as fast as possible.
