Chapter Twenty Five: Whaaa?

Now tell me: Who do you WANT her mate to be?

I woke up to something terrible.

A heavy weight was sitting on my chest, making it very difficult to breathe.

I opened my eyes to see nothing.

Something big was covering my eyes and chest.

Something named Aiden.

"Mmsgeffajsp!" I complained, squirming around. He was so HEAVY!

"Whaaa...?" He muttered groggily.

"MMSGEFFAJSP!" I shouted, kicking out with my legs.

His eyes burst opened and he fell off the bed by accident.

"Ow!" He said, climbing back up. "Not again! Why did you get under there?"

"Why did you get ontop of there!" I complained, happy to be able to breathe again. I pushed myself up with my elbows. "What's the plan for today?"

He shrugged. "Lie to my parents, not give them direct answers about our relationship, listen to Miles show off, the usual."

"Sounds good," I said, leaning onto my side and propping my head up with my arms.

I watched Aiden as he fumbled around with the drawers of his dresser, trying to force open a stuck one.

His silky brown hair was tousled from sleep, and he ran a hand through it in frustration, trying again to open the drawer.

Thankfully, he was wearing a shirt, but it was short sleeved, and it exposed all the raw muscle in his arms.

I wondered how many girlfriends he's had before. I'd guess a lot; he wasn't all that bad looking. Especially when he smiled.

"Aiden," I spoke.

He wrestled with his dresser some more. "Yeah?"

"I want to go home."

This made him stop.

His back tensed, and he let go of the drawer to turn to me with a conflictive face.

"I know. Hopefully you can soon," He said, scratching the back of his neck.

I nodded, and rolled back onto my back.

"Do you want to talk about something?" He asked, looking quite uncomfortable at the idea.

I smiled, but shook my head.

Since there was no phone in plain site, I'd have to investigate further on my own. I need him to leave.

Inky woke up with a soft meow, and Aiden jumped. "EEEEEE!"

"Calm down," I muttered, sliding off the bed to sit down with my cat.

Then I got an idea.

"Aiden," I called, "sit down."

He watched Inky wearily. "No."

"Come on, It's fine," I told him earnestly. "I'll be here in case of anything bad."

He continued watching Inky. "No."

"Please?"

"No."

"DO IT NOW."

"Ummmmm," He said, looking at both of us. "Ok."

He took a deep breath, and slowly eased himself down across from me, on the other side of Inky.

"Ok, now give me your hand," I said.

His face contorted. "What? No!"

I rolled my eyes, and reached for his arm.

He watched, unmoving, as I gently placed our hands on Inky.

He flinched, but my cat purred in response, and rubbed his cheek against our hands.

Aiden watched this in wonder, and when I removed my hand, he continued stroking her.

"Well, I guess this cat is ok," He admitted, the corners of his mouth tilting up in a tiny smile.

"Yep," I nodded. Then I stood. "I don't know about you, but I need some food."

"Story of my life," He said, standing with me.

We walked down to the kitchen, and a small smile stayed on his face until we reached it, where surprisingly, everyone already was.

Besides Mrs. Cassie and Mrs. Kenzie of course.

Everyone was sprawled out on the couches, and when we walked in they all turned towards us.

"Survived the night?" Adeline joked. "No casualties?"

"None," Aiden flashed her a grin that made me rethink my dislike for him.

"Darn," Cate muttered.

"So," I placed my hands in my hips, gaining everyone's attention. "Who's mate am I?"

They all stopped.

My question seemed to shake them quite a lot, and they just stared at me in shock.

"Uh-ah-what?" Garret choked out.

"Well, Aiden told me what a mate was last night, so who's mine?" I questioned, looking at them all. "I mean, it's not that hard to guess. Why else would you have kidnapped me?"

Their jaws dropped.

Wow, I didn't think my realization was that surprising.

I was growing impatient.

"So..." I demanded, "Which one of you is my mate?"

I stared them all down, until finally, someone cleared their throat.

They walked towards me, and took a deep breath.

"I am," said Miles.
