Chapter Five: The Escape Mission
So I have a best friend. She was there when I got in trouble for pretending to rob a store filming it all, and she was there for most of my other stories. Love her more than anything, she's the most wonderful, and wholly good person. Also, she keeps me from constantly getting arrested.
Anyway, she has a crazy family, the craziest being her grandpa. The other day, she got a call from her brother at the emergency room, telling her that they were going on a walk, and grandpa saw a wild mushroom and wondered if it was poisonous. So he ate it. It turned out to be poisonous and he had to go to the hospital, but good news! He's all better now:)
Our car pulled into a small Gas Station as I formulated my plan.
"Miles, Garret, come with me," The driver ordered. "Cole, stay with the girl."
The GIRL??
Cole puffed out his chest and saluted, while the stranger, or Miles I guess, climbed out with my kidnapper, Garret, and the guy from the shoe store.
Once the door was shut, I turned my attention to Cole.
He awkwardly scratched the back of his neck. "Soooo... Hey?"
I gave him a bland look. These kidnappers were idiots. They didn't take my teal watch off, or check my pockets.
After another minute of awkward silence, he shrugged and moved to the passenger seat, staring dully out the window.
I quietly brought my bound arms to the ground, and stepped over them so that my hands were tied up in front of me, and I reached into my pocket to grab my necklace.
It was a heart I had gotten for my birthday from Kai. As sad as it was, he had a matching one. Ah well, at least I can put it to good use.
Then, I raised my arms above my head, and jerked them down and apart with as much force as I could muster.
The tape split loudly, and Cole turned around with a startled, "Wha-?!"
I cut him off by lunging to his seat and tackling him.
"GET OFF!" He cried, thrashing around from under me. "YOU'RE CRAZY!"
"AT LEAST IM NOT AN IDOIT!" I shouted, wrapping the necklace around his neck and attempting to strangle him.
He spluttered, and while he was weak I slammed his head against the floor, and he went out like a light.
I sat back up, panting. What a rush!
And then I realized that I was straddling a very attractive and slightly unconscious man. I always wondered what it would be like to be in this position, just not under these conditions.
Hopping off Cole, I peeked out the front window.
All clear. They were probably robbing the convenience store or committing some other felony.
I quietly opened the right passenger door, climbed out, and shut it gently. Then, I tip toed over to the car next to us and slid around it to hide.
I took a couple deep breaths. If I can just get a phone...
I was about to make a run for the Seven Eleven, when a loud yell startled me.
Aw man hands.
"WHAT THE HECK?!" Someone screamed, sounding like a little girl. Probably Garret.
"COLE," Garret cried, "COME BACK TO ME!"
"He's not dead, idiot," The driver said.
"She's gone. You and Garret will check the store, she probably went for the phone. I'll check the parking lot," Miles, the red-haired stranger, commanded.
I heard footsteps slowly fade away. At least I was only facing one.
Maybe I could think my way out of this. Or I could karate chop my way out of this.
Miles walked closer. Well, he was going to find me any second, so I guess there's no hard in revealing myself.
I popped up from behind the car just in time to see him jump in fright.
"EEEEEK!" He shrieked, placing a hand over his heart. "You scared me!"
"Listen here, pal," I began. "Let me go now, or I'll make you wish you did."
He shrugged. "Or I could just kill you."
Huh. I didn't think of that one.
"Good point," I admitted. "But you've gotta get me first!"
He scoffed, "Fine."
I stepped away from the car and gestured to my body. "Oh, you wanna piece of this?"
He grinned, "Yes, please."
"I'm going to ignore that," I said. There was no way I was getting back in the car. He just admitted that he was going to kill me. Better to go down with a fight. "Come at me!"
He hesitated.
"What?" I taunted. "Scared to get your pretty tutu dirty? Well this ain't ballet class, my man. This is REAL LIFE."
I didn't have to tell him twice, he rushed at me full speed ahead, but at the last second, I held up my hand and said, "WAIT."
He skidded to a stop, slamming into my palm. Then he looked up and raised an eyebrow.
"What day is it?" I asked.
Miles paused. While he was distracted trying to recall the date, I socked him right in the face.
"OW!" He yelled.
Then I turned and ran.
Unfortunately, I didn't get very far because he recovered in a flash.
The guy tackled me to the ground, grabbing onto my waist and landing roughly on top of me. Before I could even blink, he had my arms pinned above my head, and was kneeling over me, his knees on either side of my legs.
"Take that!" I said, jerking up my knee and jamming it between his legs. He turned purple, and taking advantage of his state, I kicked him off of me.
I jumped up, but he was right behind me, and he grabbed my arm, pulled me close, and grabbed my neck in a choke hold.
My foot stomped hard on his, and he immediately let go, grabbing his foot and yelling profanities.
I went to turn again, but this time I slammed into The driver.
And it hurt.
"Ouch!" I complained, looking up at him. "What are you made of? Rocks?"
The driver raised an eyebrow at me, and then looked over to where the driver was hopping around on one foot.
I pointed at him,"It was his fault."
"Sure," Driver drawled.
"If you hadn't kidnapped me-"
"Oh, whatever!" He cut in, sending me the dirtiest look.
I narrowed my eyes at him, "Quite the vocabulary you've got there."
"Cut it out, both of you," Miles ordered, gingerly returning his door to the ground, and then wincing in pain. "Back in the van."
I signed, but complied, muttering, "Yeah, you better run. I'm it, I'm the rap master. Ain't nobody gonna kill my flow."
If I was going to be kidnapped, I needed to start acting like it. Sooner or later I'd anger Driver so much that he'd shoot me.
I was going to get out of this one way or another, and if staying silent meant my survival, then so be it.
