Seokjin || Minhee

Minhee called out to her dearest friend, Mei, her best friend since childhood to pretend to be her for the night.

Minhee was overally superficial when it came to Seokjin. How could he possibly react if he had found out the once flawless Minhee so flawed and jobless—this she feared most.

His reaction, his thoughts, his opinion.

That whole night she could see Seokjin have a good time with 'Minhee' while she just watched how everything was going in the distance. It hurt, but she didn't want to risk her pride with who she truly was.

Surely not the flawless little girl she used to be. The girl who wanted to be an idol, korea's most beloved, the same girl still exsisted but with a clear view of how life really was.

So Minhee cleared her head from that whole incident and thanked Mei for the act. Clearly Mei was uncomfortable with the situation, and was completely against it if it wouldn't had been Minhee asking. Mei would do anything for that girl.

Luckily Minhee got a chance working in a company for one of Korea's most viewed magazine. She was beyond static, and nothing was going to get in the way of her finally getting back on her feet.

Basically, Minhee was well liked by the interviewer, and was placed in with the top dogs as a secretary.

If anything Minhee worked hard and everyone liked her because of it. Even though she would come to work a complete mess from exhaustion, everyone appreciated her.

Except him,

Seokjin.

Who knew—that chubby little boy Minhee knew years back now a handsome man with such a high spot in employment.

He was definitely a guy only girls saw on those romance dramas. So handsome—anyone could agree upon this.

But if it was one thing Minhee didn't like about her new boss, Seokjin, was that he was very picky and blunt towards her.

Yes, Minhee knows she isn't the most emotionally stable, so accidents were frequent with her. Not like she did it on purpose though.

Seokjin just saw Minhee as nothing more but a secretary whom put the name, Minhee, to shame. Only because of the girl he thought he was seeing was really her, but in fact, it wasn't.

No matter how hard Minhee tried to keep her confidence around Seokjin at work she'd always fail under his strict stare.

It was a Sunday night and Minhee had just got off of her shift. She was drained and a complete mess, yet she still had the slightest bit of energy to make herself ramen before bed.

It was lonely, Mei was out of the house on a date with Seokjin. Obviously Minhee was still persistent on having Mei continue on with the act. She wanted to tell Seokjin some how, but her confidence was lacking. Every time she thought about it she just wanted to cry.

Minhee sat on the floor with her back against the foot of the couch; her ramen in a tight clutch while she blew to cool down on the hot noodles. It was then Minhee turned her head to the sound of the apartment door opening.

Mei dragged her heels into the foot of the house, and dropped her heavy purse on the floor before making way into the living room,"Minhee—I can't do this anymore."

Minhee, who was slurping on her noodles instantly choked,"What—?! What do you mean, what happened?"

Mei let out a tired sigh as she plunged her body on the floor besides Minhee. She wore an expression of guilt and sadness. Her hands held onto each other while her thumbs twiddled,"I'm not comfortable doing this anymore.."

"He tried to kiss me."

Minhee felt her chest tighten to Mei's sudden words. Seokjin was creating a bond with who he thought was 'Minhee'. He was being deceived in a way, and Minhee was so scared to even face him. He thought so low of her at work, and now he's thinking he's actually in love with the real Minhee.

Minhee just stared blankly down at her ramen. The whole room went silent and Mei felt terrible,"We didn't kiss..I pushed him away."

"It's okay-"

"It's not okay! How can you keep this up? He's practically flaunting over me and I'm not even the real Minhee. I feel so wrong when he calls me your name. I'm not you, so why do you beg me to keep this up? I'm worried for you." Mei clutched a hand-full of her own hair. She was overly stressed out about this.

"I'm sorry." Minhee shallowly replied. The tears in her eyes were evident due to her visible glossy eyes.

Mei wrapped her arms around Minhee's shoulders while she gave her a gently squeeze,"Please let him know the truth."

Minhee said nothing more, but just gave a small nod to her words. She felt terrible. Dragging her best friend into a situation that was hard to get out of. Minhee didn't even know what was to come if she told Seokjin the truth. Her real identity.

~

Today work had been hectic, especially since everyone was on edge trying to get their work handed in on the last minute. One of Minhee's coworkers had always been a top-notch employee. She was dedicated, confident, and had all the qualities of a leader. She was definitely someone Minhee looked up too. Except for today; her car had a gas leak which had been too dangerous for her to rush coming to work in that car, but she still did. She was too dedicated to miss out on today.

The coworker put down her keys on the desk to make a quick phone call for a repairmen, which she took outside her work area.

Meanwhile Minhee had just rushed in the office as everyone greeted her,"Good morning!" Minhee wore a smile even if her face showed distressed.

Today was the day. She was going to confess this big mess to her boss, her childhood friend, Seokjin.

"Minhee, you're here! Have you revised those reports I gave you?" One of her coworkers had given Minhee a report to look over for any grammar errors; yet Minhee had a big problem.

"I left it at home! I was in such a rush, I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" Minhee's face instantly grew red from the pressure. She was overwhelmed, and tired from work and her emotions. Everything was just weighing on her, and it was bound to crush her. She wanted to badly cry, but closed her eyes tightly to not let the tears fall in front of her employees.

"Ah, hurry and get it! There—take noona's keys, I'm sure she won't mind."

Minhee nodded her head quickly, she knew how urgent this report was to be handed in today, so it didn't take long for Minhee to quickly grab the keys laying on her unnie's desk.

And with that Minhee quickly got into the car, driving back home to get a reports she revised.

Moments later Seokjin walked in with a breve case clutched tightly in his hands. Everything was in a rush today, but one thing in particularly stock out to him the most,"Where's Minhee?" He peeked over by her desk to see an empty chair.

"She drove in noona's car home real quick to get the reports on the latest magazine story."

"What—?" Seokjin froze up for a second,"She took whose car?"

"Noona's."

"What the hell do you mean she took noona's car, her car has a gas leak!" Seokjin dropped his breve case and scanned around for the small, petite girl.

"When did she leave?!" Seokjin was already making his way out the door with a clear expression of fear.

"T-Ten minutes ago."

-

Headlights zoomed passed Seokjin's window as he speeded his way down the road; his hands clutch sweatily on his steering wheel with anxiety holding a knife up to his neck.

The image of Minhee terribly hurt masked over his imagination. It was an image much similar to his mothers death. The way he remembered seeing his mothers lifeless body dead in the passengers seat was enough to make him start trembling from nervousness.

He was scared for Minhee's safety.

No matter how clumsy and timid Minhee was, Seokjin couldn't help but feel like he knew her all too well. The things she'd do was much too similar with past memories buried in his childhood. He felt as ease seeing her everyday work to her best ability, even if he would scold her from minor mistakes; he'd watch her get back up in confidence with everything she had in her. Seokjin admired that.

The longer Minhee worked for him the more Seokjin came to realization the fascination he had for her. She fit the missing puzzle piece to the real friend he once had rather than the true Minhee he knew now; and this thought always stood in the back of his head.

Seokjin's mouth became dry as his car came to a stop. There was traffic, lots of it for just a simple road. The line was too long, and something told Seokjin deep down to get out. Find her. Run.

Without a second thought, Seokjin got out his car and ran until he could see the fait discoloration in the sky.

Smoke.

His heart beat accelerated and his post-traumatic stress started to take effect on him even more. Seokjin had never drove a car for days on when he finds out about car accidents. It scares him to the point where he'd make himself walk because of the fear of getting into a car again. But it was this moment that is what cause his eyes to become glossy and his limbs grow weak.

He was scared.

He truly felt fearful—fearful of one day walking into work to see Minhee's desk empty.

Seokjin laid his eyes on the sight of a car full of smoke with the front half of the car in flames. He fell short for a reaction. He imagined his mother in that same spot where her grave laid.

"W-Where is she—the girl—the girl driving that car—is she dead?!" Seokjin shouted desperately at a man with a golden badge presented professionally on his chest.

"She's alright—she got out of the car just in time before the fire could catch her." The officer then lifted his arm, and pointed at an ambulance truck with the back doors wide open.

There Minhee sat with a respirator over her mouth, as she took in deep breathes for fresh air. Her clothes had holes and burned marks while her face had ash debris smudges on her pale skin. Her lungs probably filled with dirtied air.

He ran to her, and fell to his knees once he was in her presence. The cold and sleek fingers clutched tightly onto the small and fair ones Minhee owned. His body trembled from anxiety,"Are you okay?! How can you be so clueless? You could've died! I don't want you making these kind of mistakes I was so scared!" He bellowed timidly with all his emotion pouring out.

"I'm not going anywhere, I-I'm here and well."

Those words.

That same exact line.

The memories of his childhood played back like a lost tape. Nothing ever made sense when he was with 'Minhee' but when he was with her everything just fit in, yet it didn't make any sense.

Seokjin remembered when he first lost his mom, how hopeless and lonely he was without her. Yet Minhee was there. He remembered how genuine she was to his sudden loss.

Flash back

"I miss my moms cooking." Seokjin pouted while laying his chubby cheek against the palm of his hand.

There sat 10 year old Minhee beside him while she ate her plate of food,"Me too, she was probably a better cook than my mom. But—maybe when I get older I can cook lots of yummy food for you—Like your mom!"

His face expression grew timid,"Will you be there—You're not ganna go away?"

Minhee shook her head with a small smile,"I'm not going anywhere, Im here and well, so I can cook you all the yummy food you want!"

End of flashback

Seokjin stumbled up on his knees as his hand reached out to cup her face,"Minhee—?"

She was taken back by his words. She knew this game of pretend had to be put to an end sooner or later, but she was always so fearful of his reaction. He recognized her. He knew it was her.

Minhee's eyes started to water up. The lump in her throat didn't allow words to come pouring out, so all she could do was nod guiltily to Seokjin's words.

Seokjin's face grew sincere. It seemed as if he found what he was finally looking for. What he had been searching for so long was always there in front of him since day one.

He removed the respirator off of Minhee's face as he brought her into a tight embrace. Seokjin wanted to feel her warmth—the true her.

Minhee held onto him closely with multiple tears streaming down her dirty cheeks.

"I missed you so much." Seokjin's words cut deeper than a knife. There was an actual tone of sadness in his voice that made Minhee pity him.

Seokjin turned his head against the hug to match up the level of her face before planting a soft kiss against Minhee's lips. The kiss symbolized longing, compassion, and love that he had been so desperately searching for.
