Chapter 7

The trio trudged into the small village, everywhere they looked were children running or men and women working.

Luke walked up to an elderly man sitting outside a hut. "Māpha karabēna janāba" he said haltingly.

"What did he say?" Reese whispered loudly to her sister.

"Ummmm I think he just said excuse me," Tawny replied uncertainly earning a brief nod from Lucas.

"Tōmarā ki paulēra bāṛitē āmākē nirdēśa ditē pārēna?" He continued. The elderly man responded in rapid Bengali motioning animatedly towards the north end of the village. "Dhan'yabāda" he said before directing the girls to follow him.

"What was that? What did you ask him?" Tawny questioned hurrying to keep up with Luke's longer strides.

"I asked him if he could tell me where I could find Paul. He spoke a bit quickly mind you, I'm not exactly fluent I know enough to get by, but I'm relatively certain my old pal will be down this street the third from the last house." Luke replied carelessly.

"You almost certain?!" Tawny squeaked clearly irritated at his careless tone. "We're being hunted and you're looking for your friend on 'almost certain'!?"

"Easy sweetheart I know what I'm doing." Luke replied grinning self assuredly.

"Ughhhh you're as bad as my father!" Tawny groaned.

"Considering who your father is I'll take that as a compliment." He replied with a wink.

Tawny rolled her eyes continuing to hurry beside him. "So who's Paul?"

"A buddy of mine."

"How is it you have so many 'buddies' just conveniently all over Bangladesh?" Reese asked sarcastically.

"We'll ya see that's the thing." He replied guiding both girls ahead of him down a side street. "When you're a foreigner in an unknown place you're sort of drawn to others like you. Somehow it's easy to find friends when they're scarce. Know what I mean?"

Both girls stared at him tawny smiling understandingly Reese clearly clueless. "Yeah." "no" they said speaking over each other.

Lucas simply smiled t them before knocking on the door in front of him. "Paul? Hey buddy it's Luke open up?"

"Luke?!" A deep voice shouted as he flung open the door. Standing on the other side of the door was a large redheaded man. A thick curly beard covered the majority of his face. "Hey mate what're you doing out here!?" He said clasping Luke's arms and laughing jovially.

"Hey buddy it's good to see you." look replied grinning. "Hey listen I need a favor I'm trying to get these two home to New York there's some thugs after them...you still got that chopper?"

Paul eyed the two girls standing with his friend questioningly. "Sure yeah it's out this way." He replied clearly curious.

Paul lead them out of the village to a large shed. "I'm assuming I'm not gonna get her back?" He questioned only half joking.

Lucas smiled sheepishly, "sorry buddy can't make any promises this time."

"Yeah that's what I figured," Paul eyed the girls, "just promise me one thing." He said to the elder girl.

"What?"

"Take care of my mate here?" He said thumping Lucas soundly on the back. "I'll miss the old girl but can't replace a friend like Lucas."

"I'll do my best," she said shaking his hand solemnly.

"That's all I can ask." With that Paul threw open the doors revealing an older army helicopter.

The girls sat in the shade of the shed while the men went over the chopper.

"So what's the story?" Paul questioned nodding his head backwards at the women while he and Luke tested the fuel.

"They got into some trouble snooping around. Someone in their relief group is stealing funds. Moses was helping them and got killed for it."

"Wow." Paul said shocked looking back towards the girls. "You wouldn't expect a relief group to have that kind of money?!"

"You'd be surprised," Luke replied grunting with effort as he tugged the fuel tank towards the chopper. "Anyway Moses sent the girls to me told them I'd get them home so that's what I'm doing."

"Well good luck pal." Paul replied releasing the tethers tide to the blades. "You're gonna need it I think."

Lucas nodding before turning to the girls. "Alright chop chop let's move!"

As they ascended the chopper blades beefing the air into submission Tawny looked off into the horizon. Hopefully they'd get home soon.

Tony landed in the first village he came to as the sun was setting. Villagers eyed him nervously, women pulling their children into their huts.

"Can I help you mate?" A man questioned stepping out from under a tree.

Tony eyed him thoughtfully, "who're you?"

"Name's Paul. I don't have to ask who you're everyone who knows anything about the free world knows Tony Stark." The redheaded man replied offering his hand.

Tony nodded wearily too tired for pleasantries. "I'm looking for my daughters, Tawny and Reese. I've been trailing them since Dhaka I need to get them home. Please tell me you know where they are?"

"I know where they were." He nodded. "Bout three hours ago they came through here with my buddy Luke, asked to use my chopper. They're gone now headed for India."

Tony groaned exhausted. "Always one step behind it seems."

"Listen why don't you stay here with me tonight." Paul suggested pointing towards his house.

"Can't gotta find my girls." Tony argued turning to leave.

"Come on pal you've clearly been up for days. You'll do those girls no good if you collapse in the jungle."

Tony glanced out towards the west aware his babies were out there somewhere. He sighed knowing he truly couldn't go on tonight. "Ok thanks man."
