Am I Worth It?
Mingi struggles with insecurities and believes he's no longer needed in the group. The rest of the boys help him believe otherwise.
'mingi is so useless, seonghwa could take his rapping place, he's not even participating in the groups schedule and seonghwa is doing so much better'
'mingi is such a bad rapper, hes also a bad dancer, why is he part of the main dancer line'
'yunho could have done a lot better he doesn't need a friend as weak as him'
'a man should not be cute, he should look like his image, mingi should reconstruct his face to be cuter if he wants to act like a child'
'am i really a bad rapper'
'does yunho actually want to be my friend?'
'maybe I should change my personality if atiny don't like it'
These were just a few of the regular thoughts mingi had recurring in his head. Ever since he took a break from schedules many atiny prefer the seven members more. He promised his members not to listen to the hate and comments but they got to him the more he got curious on what they were saying until he was second guessing his ability.
But with them not being there and him stuck at the dorm alone because of his emotions he didn't have the backing to help distract himself. He knows that seonghwa is getting very good at rapping he had watched every video, he was slightly jealous due to the fact he couldn't perform but his mother would scold him if she ever saw what he had become. The fear of missing out and the fear of being replaced grew deeper each passing day. He was always bored and the Dorm was always silent, the rest of the members usually being out really late into the night and coming back exhausted. He didn't know what they were doing more than what he could watch but he was starting to feel severely left out.
It kept getting worse the more he waited around days turned into months and the members started ignoring him and forgetting about him. He knew they at least remembered he needed to eat and so there was always a portion of food for him whenever they get take out or when seonghwa or Wooyoung cooks.
He thought that maybe he should stay somewhere else, feeling like a burden. With the thoughts and actions he didn't know whether anything he was seeing was true he just let his mind decide for him.
He bit his lip and got off his bed and started packing his clothes, grabbing a wallet and calling the manager who allowed him to stay with his parents.
He managed to fit everything in one bag as he was only taking clothes. He then got dressed in a decent outfit and left his bedroom heading to the Dorm door and exiting it, locking it behind him.
Once he was certain it was locked he walked down the halls and towards the buildings exit and heading to the bus stop wearing a mask and beret, his hair had faded to back to black so he wouldn't stand out too much.
He got on the bus and waited for his stop. He put in his airpods and listened to somecalmingmusic as he waited. It wasn't long before he was off the bus and walking home.
With his airpods in and his long legs he managed to arrived home quickly and knocked on the door not knowing if his manager had called his mom.
He waited three minutes before his mother opened the door with a suprised look on her face.
"mingi why are you here?" she asked and mingi pulled down his mask.
"I couldn't handle being on my own so I asked if I could stay with you guys until I go back to work." he said softly and his mother smiled.
"alright, im just making dinner are you hungry?" she asked and mingi grinned.
"very" he said and she giggled letting him in the warm house. He placed his bag by the door and took of his shoes and coat.
Once he did that he took of his shoes and put on his slippers and walked into the kitchen to watch his mother cook.
"is the restaurant closed today?" he asked and his mother nodded.
"yep there's a leak on the roof so I need it fixed before I can reopen it may take a day or two. The builders are there right now" his mother explained and he ahed in response.
"take a seat love foods almost done, your father should be in his study." his mother said and mingi nodded. Taking his favourite seat at the table and waiting for his mother to finish.
He got a plate of food withing minutes and his mother sat besides him.
While eating they chatted and caught up with each other. He explained why he wasn't performing with the others.
Food was finished and cleaned up and mingis father joined in. They all went to sleep with happy smiles on their faces.
Time skip 1 week
"mingi yunhos here" his mother yelled and he made his way out of his room and towards the door.
His mother had let the other in the house and he was wearing the slippers mingis mom bought for him. He was sat in the living room waiting for mingi.
"why are you here yunyun?" mingi said, the nickname escaped due to habit and it seemed to calm down yunho a bit as mingi saw him relax.
"manager refused to tell us where you went and we finally had enough so we planned to find out ourselves I just so happened to bethe only one who knows where you live so I came straight here. We have an off day today" yunho explained and mingi nodded.
"why did you leave the Dorm?" yunho asked and mingi sighed.
"the quiet was getting to me" mingi lied and yunho nodded.
"ah that's understandable sorry we never played with you or was noisy we wanted you to rest up and not have to worry about added stress" yunho confessed and mingi felt guilty. He sighed under his breath and sent a small smile to yunho.
"I was letting things get to me I'm sure you've seen the comments on your performances, I guess not having you guys around let me think you guys agreed." mingi relented and yunho was shocked but nodded.
"mingi, we love you, we really do, it's our fault as well that you feel this way as your friends we should have not left you on your own even if we were exhausted, next time tell us please, don't just run away." yunho replied.
"no no it's not your guys fault it's my own for letting me think that." mingi stressed making yunho chuckle and roll his eyes.
"let's go back OK" yunho said with a smile and mingi sighed. Looking in the direction of his kitchen only to see his mother smiling at the door with a tray of hot chocolate and biscuits.
She walked in once noticed and placed the tray on the coffee table.
"you should go back min, you've spent more than enough time with us. When your ready go back to work but stay with your group OK. You can vusut whenever you have a free day we don't mind baby" his mother said getting up and petting his head and giving him a kiss on the forehead and a hug.
He sighed and nodded getting up and going to his room. To grab all his things and to change heading back down once ready. Yunho was waiting at the door gulping down the hot chocolate and eating the biscuits. Mingi almost snorted at the display only to get a wink causing him to laugh slightly.
He grabbed his own drink and snagged a biscuit off of yunho downing it and eating before putting on his shoes.
His mother yelled good bye before entering with some flasks with more hot chocolate in and more biscuits instantly handing them to yunho with a chuckle.
Yunho thanked her dramatically and they left with a hug and goodbye. Mingi stayed besides yunho as they walked to the city centre and met up with the other members who engulfed mingi in a hug.
They entered their black van and chatted all the way back to the dorms.
"we can have a movie night together!" wooyoung yelled earning a smack on the back of his head by San.
"stop yelling!" San yelled to him.
"but your yelling too!" wooyoung yelled back and it went back and forth from there.
Mingi watched them with a smile and realised how badly he missed this. He ignored the arguing but felt complete again even if the little thoughts at the back of his head were telling him otherwise.
They got to the Dorm and all dogpiled onto the couches, no one refusing to move to turn on the TV. Mingi got up to do so but jongho shot up and did it instead. He chose a random movie they all kept in their list and cuddled up with his hyungs.
Mingi smiled happily as the warmth of his members shrouded the thoughts with happiness. Although his anxiety would never leave him he would gladly cope with it this way.
He was truly loved in this family and he was all for it.
