Pickaxes, or picks are like our coffee for Minecraft. Without a pick, you won't be able to survive. Picks mine stone, coal, iron, gold, diamonds, redstone, and obsidian. Picks are one of the weakest tools for combat, so I would just stick with swords or axes.

Golden pickaxes have 33 uses before they break

Iron pickaxes have 129 uses before they break

Stone pickaxes have 65 uses before they break

Wooden pickaxes have 33 uses until they break

Pick enchantments:

Efficiency: mines faster

Silk touch: drops normal stone not cobble stone

Unbreaking: usage will not decrease

Fortune: gives more items
