Part 1: Chapter 3- The Village
When I went into the village, a well dressed villager came to greet me. "Welcome to my village. My name is Andy and may I ask if you wish to stay here?"
I nodded as I felt very tired. "Where can I stay?" I asked, looking around.
"We have an empty house there," as he spoke he gestured to a medium sized house. "You may stay as long as you like. Also, feel free to trade with us."
"Thank you," I said politely, heading to the house. The bed was comfy as I began to fall asleep, or so I thought. Despite the fact that I feel very tired, I kept tossing and turning on my bed.
I felt that Andy and the other villagers are hiding something, but what? What could threaten the village so much that they are too scared to talk about it?
By the time I fell asleep, it was already midnight. My dreams are not peaceful, unfortunately. Those were confusing dreams, but they have one thing in common.
They seemed to signify an oncoming battle or something, but I don't believe that there will be a battle. Living in The City for so long made me feel that there are no massive threats.
Soon, I woke up. I grumbled as I did not have much sleep and I walked out of the house.
To my great surprise, it was empty. There was no sign of the villagers. I felt my heart began beating fast as I wildly thought of possible things.
"Don't worry," Andy's voice came from behind me. I turned around in surprise and I asked, "Where are the others?"
"I'm sorry," he sighed. "I should tell you earlier. The others are... paying respects to one of us, who died last night."
"How?" when I asked, I began to feel more bewildered and confused.
"Follow me inside," Andy instructed. "It is not safe outside."
When we are inside, I got myself comfortable and Andy began his tale. "Our village used to live in harmony. Many more used to live here, and trade with the other villages were well. But one day, trade was disrupted. Messengers went to investigate and we found out..." He closed his eyes as if it was too much to bear.
"...that they were destroyed. Every single one house, from a simple farmer's house to a bigger house. Burned to ashes. The blacksmith's shop was reduced to rubbles," Andy took a deep breath.
"Then, zombies began attacking our house. They broke down doors easily, killing any villagers in the house. There was nothing much I could do. Those zombies wore heavy and strong armour, capable of defending the owner from taking damage. It was getting worse... and last night, we were told that the next day will be our end. I'm terribly sorry, but you will have to go. I don't want you to get killed."
When Andy finished, I felt numb with shock. "How can I leave you here to your terrible fate?" I could not stop myself from saying. "I will fight."
He blinked, and said, "If you want to. Perhaps our fate is sealed."
"You can't give up," I urged. "You have a blacksmith, and even if the weapons do not work, at least you would go down knowing that you tired your best."
"Thank you for your confidence in us," Andy said, this time, his voice was more certain and determined. "We will fight tomorrow."
