Chapter 6
Five pieces of iron. That's all I got from this one vein. That's fine, I only needed three. Although, those extra two could be used to make a sword. I only need to smelt them-
I don't have a furnace. Nor cobble to make one.
"More mining it is." I mumble to myself, before once more hitting the wall with my pick. I gather about half a stack, before placing my crafting table down and creating a furnace.
In almost no time at all, I have smelted and crafted an iron sword and a bucket. I destroy and pocket the furnace and table, before heading back to the small cave opening. I can barely see the moon above the overhanging stone and trees.
For a moment, I just stand here, listening for any footsteps or sounds of the hunters voices. All that I can hear are the sounds of mobs, passive and hostile, as they wander through the night.
Despite having the time while the iron cooked, I allow myself to breathe. I fold my arms across my chest, and a small smile spreads on my face.
I don't know why I smile; with everything going on, there's no reason to. I need to continue on, to build myself a Nether portal and hopefully make it home.
I look up again, this time in search of a way out, when I hear footsteps behind me. I go to turn and face whatever mob it is, before I realise. Those footsteps are too slow to be a mob.
"You know I'm here," his voice echoes off the cave walls, as he talks slowly and without any emotion. "Face me, coward."
I do as he says, and as I meet his eyes, now glaring into my soul, I no longer see the Minecraft character.
No longer do I see Sapnap as he holds an iron sword in his grasp. No longer do I see Sapnap hunting me down. But Nick, my friend from Earth.
Staring at me like a heartless killer.
