Day 4 -- When it all went to Hell

Monday, 6/10/19

Today was the last day of the messed up schedule and as thus the last day of the LAN party. I went to computer games in block 1.2, the second block of the day and was one of the first ones there. Used John's computer again and got it fired up at our double table. John had to take the server down because it was all but destroyed on Friday, so it took him a while to get it up. I created and was exploring a singleplayer world in amplified and he saw it and thought it was cool so he changed the world type to amplified when rebooting the server. The people there today were me, John, Josh, Miles and two kids that I didn't know, both seventh graders, I think.

Once we logged on, we spawned into the middle of an ocean. There was a coral reef behind us and no land in sight. John turned on flight but I think I was the only one who realized (or he only turned it on for me), so I went and flew up and found an island just out of vision. I flew over and there was a kind of barrier keeping me from going more than like fifteen blocks into the island. John restarted the server try to figure out how to get rid of the server, but no avail.

The next thing that happened was that John opped me. I went and flew around to find more land in our little 1000x1000 block enclosure. I found a spruce island a little ways away from the other island (basically on the other side of enclosure), and there was a pretty big part within the barrier. I teleported everyone to me because it would have taken them too long to swim and we all immediately explored the island. One of the guys I didn't know and Josh kept on dying so I built a little spawn platform on the side of one of the cliffs over the water out of oak planks and acacia logs and set the world spawn there.

At this point, all of the island had been explored and we could see a lot more island that looked a lot more interesting (overhangs, cliffs, underwater ravines, etc.), so John went out of the world again to see if he could gain control of the barrier. I don't know if he was successful or he figured out he could manipulate it from inside the game, but when the server was up again. He went into the game and made our enclosure bigger.

The he learned he could make it slowly grow to a specified  area over a specified amount of time.

So, naturally, if he can grow it, he can shrink it.

The next  thing that happened was that he made the barrier slowly shrink to a 7x7 space around (0,0). It shrank faster than anyone could swim, so john said, repeatedly, "Everyone, get a boat quickly!" Because we all kept dying, however, none of us (except me and John) had any materials, so I was nice  and gave everyone a boat to get to (0,0). Once the cage had fully shrunk to a 7x7 space John changed the water we were swimming in to grass blocks, then it basically became a hunger games free-for-all. Due to backlash from everyone that was playing, John put the barrier back to how it was. We went and played for another ten or so minutes, then John decided to have more fun with commands, which resulted in what we call "The Valley of Explosive Treasure."

Yeah. Fun on servers.

Basically, John set the grass blocks of a large area of the map to have a 5:1 ratio of TNT to diamond blocks, hence "explosive" and "treasure." he then spawned a ton of Elder Guardians over the area.

Then Miles summoned the Wither. You can guess how that went. Long story short, the Valley of Explosive Treasure was short lived.

Doing this with my friends has been great, I'm sad that today was the last day. Over the summer, however, we're planning on building an actual server, because the one we're playing on is technically illegal.

Both of the above: The Valley of Explosive Treasure and I think that's Kailas in the back
