I woke up at breakfast. My eyes blinked open as I saw a jailgaurd throwing a raw chicken and a piece of bread into my cell.
"Hey!" I groaned, sitting up. "Hey, can I talk to Notch?"
The guard ignored me and began to walk away.
"Wait! Wait! I need to speak with Notch!" I called after him. He continued to act like he couldn't hear me.
I slumped against the wall, having no idea what to do. How was I supposed to find ben in this place?
For the first time in my life, I felt completely helpless. My team and Gregoe were out all alone, Rax was no where to be seen, and Ben was hidden somewhere deep in this fortress. The next time I'd see him would probably be at our execution in two days.
These thoughts in my heart, I began to slowly drift off to sleep.
...
Gregor was worried. How could he not be? Ender had gotten shot and captured by none other than Preston. The boy had helped fight against Herobrine with the HH (they'd rescued him from Herobrine's fortress) and he'd died alongside Gregor and Jane on the battlefield. Now Notch had brought him back too.
Gregor hoped this was the bad clone of Preston, the one who thought Notch made him powerful, like the other version of Gregor.
But this also meant something else of equal importance. Jane can come back, Gregor thought.
After Ender was taken, Gregor waited until morning to tell the team. For some reason, he just didn't want to talk about it just yet.
So when he did tell them, they were mad.
"We need to go after him!" The one named Maria pleaded. They were walking through the jungle to the Mountains of Moran.
Gregor shook his head. "Let's not get distracted. Anyways, we're heading in the right direction right now. I think we need to study that stubstance. The ones found in the Mountains of Moran. ML Exma."
Braden furrowed his brow. "Why?"
"The Warriors of Notch use it. And we haven't even met them, so it might be good to get a leg up."
Bradley nodded. "That makes sense. But how are we going to study this substance if we don't even have it?"
Gregor grinned. "That's where it gets fun. We're going to break into the Warriors of Notch's secret labs."
...
I was woken to someone jostling my shoulder.
"Wake up, you scum!" A distant sounding voice sneered.
Blinking my eyes open, I saw "Greg" leaning over me. Letting out a yelp of surprise, I stubled back and hit the wall.
Greg straightened up. "Finally, you've awoken." He glanced outside of my cell when a guard clad in gold armor stood (a Warrior of Notch, I guessed) and waved his arm. The guard nodded and silently shuffled away.
"Now that he's gone," Greg said, "I can tell you what I'm here for."
I sat up a little straighter.
"Notch has accepted your invitation to speak with him," Greg began.
"Really?" I exclaimed, leaping to my feet.
Greg held a hand up. "Not because he wan't to speak with you," he said adbruptly. "Because he wants to show you something."
I glared. "What could Notch, traitor to all Minecraftia want to show me?"
Greg moved forward and stared me dead in the eye. "Notch is a hero. He will destroy Herobrine and everyone will praise his name," he seethed.
He paused for a second and there was only silence. It's strange to have a face you recognize be so twisted for evil.
Regaining a profesional composure, Greg strode over to the door of my cell and opened it. "Follow me. I will lead you to Notch." Then, pausing, he added, "Why he would want to see filth like you, I do not know."
After that he promptly walked out of my cell and into the hallway.
Stretching my weary arms, I followed him.
Managing to not speak a word to me all the while (I guessed he was still mad about me dissing Notch or whatever), Greg lead me through a series of twists and turns, slowly going upward.
I couldn't help but wonder how big this fortress was.
After almost an hour of simply walking, Greg stopped at the beginning of a long hallway that ended in an ominous black door.
"I'm not permitted to travel the rest of the way with you," Greg told me, finally speaking.
"You mean the end of the hallway?" I asked.
Greg glared at me. "Don't joke around. Notch does not take things lightly, Including meeting with the leader of the Resistance."
He turned around and began back the way we came.
"Wait!" I called after him.
He turned around and looked at me, the usual scowl on his face. "What?"
"Where do I go when I'm done?"
Greg shrugged. "You'll know."
Walking away, he left me standing amidst that very long hallway.
Wen I pushed the door open, I swear I died.
I had found that the door lead to a large, massive chamber. At first it was hard to see because in the center of this said chamber, a man stood in the air, floating above the floor. Light and energy radiated from him into all directions, reminding me of the "budder" in movies by Skydoesminecraft that Motir and I used to watch.
And the light wasn't any light. It was blinding light, making it hard for me to see anything.
"Notch?" I asked, squinting my eyes.
The light began to die down until it was gone and I was soon able to actually make out the figure of the man.
He lowered himself to the floor and I got a good look at him. He had a grey beard and no hair.
"Ender," he said.
I didn't react. I just wanted to listen to his voice. It seemed to lull me in. It was soft and kind. How could I ever have thought badly of this gentle person?
"Sir?" I asked sleepily. I hardly seemed to notice the blue mist flowing around me and the tingling sensation flowing through my body.
Notch gave me a smile.
How could I ever have cared if this man destroyed the Resistance? This man was calm and content in every single way.
Greg said that Notch had made him strong. I wanted him to do that to me. I wanted to be powerful.
"I have something to show you," Notch told me.
I nodded eagerly.
Chuckling, he gestured for me to come to him at the center of the floor.
I walked forward briskly and joined him.
"Are you familiar with how I brought back Gregor and Preston?" Notch asked me.
Not knowing who this "Preston" was, I nodded. Notch had ought them back to stop Herobrine. I had thought once that it was a bad thing. But why? How could I ever disagree with something his man did?
"I would like you to watch me bring back someone else, do you understand?"
I nooded again. Who was he going to bring back from the dead? Was it going to be like Gregor, where there were two versions? One that served Notch and one that didn't?
"Sir, are there going to be two of this person?" I asked.
Notch's eyes grew dark. "We'll have to see, Ender."
For the next hour or so, Notch prepared potions and weapons, placing them in around the center of the room, where there was a light blue square.
The color reminded me of someone's eyes, but I couldn't think of who's.
Notch wouldn't tell me who he was bringing back, so I just sat and waited.
Finally, he finished placing items and turned to me. "It's time to begin," Notch said.
I grinned, excited to see him display his magic.
"Sir, do I get to know now who you're bringing back from the dead?" I asked.
Notch looked at me. "A warrior. A strong one."
I nodded. I liked warriors.
"She is very loyal, but blind about what side to fight alongside. It might be difficult to teach her where she stands."
"Who is it, sir?"
Notch grinned, but it was sad, as if he was on his way to a funeral.
"It's Ben's best friend, Jane."
