Chapter 15
Several things happened at once. Bradley yelled and weilded his sword, Braden and Maria loaded their bows, Art heathed her blade and raised it above her head, and I simply ran towards Herobrine.
"Ender!" Maria yelled after me.
I roared and brought my fist to Herobrine's jaw with a loud crack!
Theveil tyrant stumbled back and fell onto a clump of leaves.
I breathed heavily. I had just punched the leader of minecraft in the face. Your normal day, right?
For a few seconds, nothing happened. Then Herobrine hefted himself up, looking very, very angry.
He let out a yell and punched me in the gut. I fell to the ground and glanced at my stomach. That part of my chestplate had been incinerated; melted away.
I looked back at Herobrine's hand. It was red hot. The guy almost melted me.
I stumbled to my feet as fast as I could, pulling out my sword.
A sudden whistling noise peirced the air.
Braden had shot an arrow at Herobrine.
The arrow imbeded itself into the monster's shirt.
"That was for my family," Braden growled softly.
Herobrine looked at him, unaffected. "Do I know you?" He pulled the arrow out of his chest as cast it aside. "It's going to take a lot more than that to kill me."
Suddenly, Bradley yelled, "Attack position 5, go!"
We all instantly moved into our spots. This excersize was one of the few I knew, and it only took me a few seconds to realize that it wasn't going to work. This needed 6 people to surround the enemy. We only had 5.
Herobrine quickly found the weak link and burst into flames, causing us all to back away.
Then the fire died down and he glanced at me. "So you're the new leader of the Resistance eh?" I wondered if some of his soldiers from the battle told him that.
"You killed my family and Motir," I told him calmly.
"I did. And now I'm going to kill you. I can't let you help the Warriors of Notch."
"Who?" I asked stupidly.
"Ender, look out!" Maria suddenly yelped.
I stumbled and fell flat to the ground. I could vaguely make out a figure soaring through the air above me. They crashed into Herobrine and knocked him out.
Standing up, they pushed Herobrine's body aside with a look of malice.
Raising myself to my feet, I was able to get a clear look at the new guy. Probably a year older than me, he had soft brown hair and sky blue eyes. He was pretty fit and had only an iron sword hanging from his waist. But... who was he?
Bradley must have been thinking the same thing because he asked, "Not to be rude or anything, but who in Notch's name are you?"
The boy looked at my friends and me. "I'm Gregor. Now let's go save Ben from my stupid clone."
...
Ben walked along the quiet path, looking at the pine and spruce trees scattered aloong the infinite mountain range. Gregor had let him wander around the wilderness for a while, but said that if he tried to leave he'd regret it. Ben believed him.
So he tried to stay along the path and figure out what the heck had happened.
While leaving the battle, the Warriors of Notch must have knocked him out and captured him, which was a bit annoying (or a lot).
And this new Gregor was brainwashed. The real Gregor would never kidnap him. As for how he was alive? He'd said at one point that Notch had brought him back through a different server, whatever that meant. Ben hoped the news that people could come back from the dead didn't leak. Then Notch would be overun by people who wanted to bring others back.
Even more unsettling, Gregor'd said that he was going to get Preston and Jane; that he was going to make the as powerful as he was. Ben'd rather have them stay dead than turn into an egotistical moster like Gregor.
Hoping that he wasn't being watched, Ben began to punch a tree, ust in case he could escape with some supplies. He also made sure to hide it deep in his inventory, so no one could see it along the hot bar on his belt.
After hiding all of that away, Ben continued along his walk under the pale grey sky.
Ben couldn't help but notice how peaceful it was No one was there. It was just him and the empy mountains.
Of course, being a seasoned warrior, that made him suspisious. If the place where you're being held captive seems normal or even happy, then there's something wrong.
Taking action, Ben made a crafting table with his new wood so that he could make a sword.
Putting the workbench away, he hel out his weak sword. Even though it was woode, Ben appreciated it. In his life, you were grateful for what you got.
A russtling noice escaped a grove of trees ahead of him. Ben moved into defense position 5, good for protection in a rough terrain.
More russtling came, getting louder and louder until a wolf burst from the trees.
And it wasn't an ordinary wolf. It was gigantic; the size of a horse if not bigger.
For a second, Ben's eyes just widened "Bloody nether," he muttered. How could a wolf be that big? Ben didn't even attack it! Wolves don't aggrovate on their own!
Coming back to his senses, Ben launched himself at the giant wolf, ready for a fight.
The thing roared as Ben sliced his wooden sword across its flank.
"Take that, mutant!" Ben yelled, not caring if Gregor heard from the fortress of the Warriors of Notch.
The wold circled around Ben and quickly struck, ramming into Ben's back, throwing the teenage boy to the ground.
Ben scrambled back on his behind and stumbled to his feet, the wet snow sogging his body. He held his sword in a familier position; the one he used when he and Gregor chased after the assasins that captured Jane. That was 3 years ago. Now Gregor was back and things were way different.
The wolf roared at Ben, its blood red eyesglaring at him with a particular hate.
Ben began the X Defense; slicing your sword in an "X" pattern and advancing. It was both a defensive and offensive move. An appropriate choice, Ben thought.
The wold began to back up, whimpering. Ben almost felt bad. Killing innocent animals wasn't his forte. But this animal wasn't innocent. It had tried to kill him.
Leading him to a ledge, Ben continued to slice his sword. The wolf was completely under his control. Soon he would fall down the slopes of the mountains.
The wolf let out a low cry and Ben cracked. Dropping his sword, he fell to his knees and embraced the huge, furry animal. No one deserved such a cruel death.
The wolf shifted under him, accepting the hug.
"That's too bad, Ben," a voice said. "You failed the test."
...
"Excuse me?" I said.
Gregor nodded. "Notch brought me back from the dead, along with an evil version of me, who he recruited into his warriors. Those are the people Herobrine mentioned."
The team of the Resistance gaped at him.
Gregor rolled his eyes, looking annoyed with us. "The Warriors of Notch kidnapped BEn and took him to their home in the mountains of Moran. Why? I don't know. And that liquid, ML Exma, they use it. What for, I'm not sure."
No one replied. Gregor, the famed hero who fought Herobrine until his death, was alive? Notch brought him back? No one had heard from Notch in years.
Would you like to get rid of that body?" Gregor pointed to Motir, who's body was still hanging from the tree.
I nodded silently.
Gregor helped us bury Motir and we continued on our journey, he leading us to the mountains of Moran.
"So who are you guys?" He asked us.
"We're the Resistance," Bradley answered. "Part of it at least. Ender here is the leader." He pointed to me.
"Hey," I said casually.
Gregor laughed. "So Herobrine took over?" His expression darkened. "I hate that jerk." He paused and let the only sound be our feet as we walked through the jungle. "So why isn't Ben the leader?"
"Well," I began, "he was, but I, uh, got mad at him."
Gregor chuckled again. "What'd he do?"
"Well, for a while after you and Jane... died, he got really hard. So he kidnapped me and that guy back there and tried to force us into being in his mining unit. So I challenged him and won."
"Ender's humble," Bradley said. "He could've killed him, but didn't"
Gregor looked at me curiously, as if sizing me up. It was pretty uncomfortable to be assesed by another teenager.
"He's quite the archer," Maria added.
Gregor said, "Did Ben ever tell you that I once made an automatic-" he cut himself off and halted, drawing his sword.
Following his lead, the rest of us armed ourselves.
"Come on," he whispered.
