Chapter 46

Ben went in first, armed with the melee weapon and I went in after him, ready with the ranged attack.
We crept into the cave, darkness around us. It looked like a regular private mining spot, but we weren't so sure.
Soon we were going through a full on tunnel that lead us for a while until an abrupt ending. A small downward 1 block tube th a ladder attached to it waited in front of us.
"That's it," Ben said in an affirmative voice. He began down the ladder. I followed.
We went down the ladder for about 15 blocks until it dropped straight into a small chamber.
We slid to the ground and looked around. The room was seemingly otherwise empty except for a few sword and armor pieces on the ground ahead of us. They were made of gamma.
"Where is everyone?" Ben asked softly.
"Look over here, fool,"a low vice scorned.
The black figures emerged from the dark into the small, lit area that Ben and I stood in. They shoved a limp body, bound and gagged into the light. It was Jane. I gasped. One of the figures pushed 2 enchanted Ender chests into veiw.
"Why did you attack us?" I asked, loading my bow.
"For the same reason that everyone else has," one of them explained, "to get the Dark Blaze Rod."
"We don't have it," Ben said, his voice filled with anger.
"Of course you don't!" Another one laughed. "But you know who does."
"Are you working with Herobrine?" Ben asked. "Because if so, there is no way we would ever help you!" I felt nervous that Ben was provoking them. We were outnumbered and they had Jane and our chests. But I still added fuel to the fire. "And we wouldn't even if you weren't!" I yelled.
"That's why we're going to make you," the last one whispered.
An arrow shot from the left.
I ducked and shot one of my own. The other two wielded swords and advanced. I instantly knew that Ben and I were dead. There was no way we could live.
The two assassins attacking me stood back to back, doing formations I couldn't even imagine. One was armed with a bow. The other, a sword. I shot off a few arrows, but they were deflected by the swordsman easily.
Ben seemed to be holding his own well enough against the other swordsman who had now turned into an archer, but he was slowly being pushed against the wall.
I shot an arrow at the archer's feet. It hit him the ankle. Like Achilles.
"Ahh!!" He wailed, a gargling noise escaping his throat. He fell down and wimpered, holding his foot.
The warrior's comrade hardly seemed to care, continuing to advance while holding his sword above his head, now in a more solo position.
"Idiot," I thought. 'His chest is completely undefended."
I shot an arrow. Time seemed to go in slow motion. He could see a triumphant look in his enemy's eyes. The warrior sliced his sword downward, deflecting the arrow, and shooting it straight towards me.
I let out a yelp as it tore through my pathetic leather armor, pinning me to the wall. The assassin advanced until he was not a block away from me.
He swung his sword. I cried out in pain. I'd lost a whole three and a half hearts. The assassin swung again. I yelled out again, but Ben couldn't help. One more hit and I'd probably be dead.
For the second time that night, I was about to die.
Imagine the sound of fifty elephants trumpeting at once and stomping on the ground. That was the sound I heard. It ripped through my eardrums.
I looked up and was barely able to see the explosion tearing through stone above us. Then I blacked out.
