Part 1 :- Darkness Falls
Xian's POV
Everything goes silent and I open my eyes.
I see a faint blue glow emitting from a few feet away. It makes my heart race and fills me with happiness.
The glowing humanoid form turns and I see him... I see my Jun.
What are you doing here, Jun?
Did you follow me?
Did you miss me too?
I keep looking at him, ignoring everything happening around me. I can see him clearly, but it looks like he can't see me.
Why?
I am brought out of my thoughts when the speaker crackles once more and the sound of thunder fills the hall.
Qing screams once again digging her nails into my arms. And I am done with her trying to cling to me. I can't take it anymore. I free myself from her iron grip and move away.
I hear her calling my name frantically but I can't bring myself to care.
I can always blame it on the crowd and confusion if she chooses to confront me. But right now, Jun is here and I need to be closer to him.
I move through the crowd until I am right behind Jun.
The floor stops shaking.
"Are you ready to be punished?" I hear a menacing voice inquiry over the speaker just before the floor jerks, and starts moving forward.
I look ahead and find us entering another hall. It's as dark as the one we had just left and I feel something slither next to my feet, barely missing it.
Almost immediately, I hear most of girls and a few of the boys freak out and start screaming. Time slows down as I see the girl directly in front of Jun being pushed back and fall, while Jun just stands there.
Instinctively moving forward, my hands travel the remaining distance and wrap around Jun's middle, and I pull him towards myself.
His back collides with my chest and I stop breathing. With no one to break her fall, the unfortunate girl hits the floor, landing on her rear.
Jun realizes what has happened and tries to help her.
No.
My hands grip him tighter and I whisper in his ears, "Jun, don't."
He stops struggling and breathing, "Xian?" He asks hesitantly.
"What are you doing here, Jun?" I ask him, making sure to caress the shell of his ear, with my lips.
When he remains quiet and unmoving, I let go of him. He turns to face me, "Can you see me?" He asks, moving his hand over my arms and neck before coming to stop on the side of my face.
"Yes, I can see you." I answer confidently.
He cups my face, "Can you see others too?"
I nod.
"Do I look like others?"
"No. You are emitting a blue glow. It's very faint, but it's there." I answer truthfully. He gasps and his hand falls away from my face.
He takes a step back, "That's not possible." He snaps. He shakes his head vigorously before turning away from me.
"Jun" I call, trying to hold his hand... trying to stop him.
"Don't." He bites out swatting my hand away and pushes through the crowd of people with surprising speed.
I blink and he is gone.
What just happened!?
Why did he get upset?
Then it hits me, how was I able to see even in pitch darkness? I rake my mind and try to remember if I had ever seen Jun glow the way I had seen him do moments before.
The speaker crackles once more, but I tune it out. My mind a mess and my heart, cold as ice, I start feeling disoriented. And the next moment, everything goes dark.
"Xi...Xi..!" I hear Cheng's concerned voice. I open my eyes and find myself lying in what I looks to be a hospital bed.
"What happened?" I ask, sitting up and looking at first Cheng's and then Mia's face.
"You dumbass!" Mia hits my forearm with a force that almost pushes me off the bed.
"Ouch! ... Mia...is that the way to treat your best friend?" I smile, rubbing my arm.
Mia huffs and crosses her arms over her chest. I chuckle but before I can speak my mind, I feel a light tap on my shoulder.
"I was so worried." I hear Qing whisper before I feel her arms around my neck.
I hate it. I despise her touch. I am about to rudely tell her off, when I hear someone clear their throat.
Qing ignores it and keeps holding on to me shamelessly. "Qing, please," I say as politely as possible, trying to free myself from her grasp.
"Yes, how may I help you?" I hear the nurse chirp in a bright voice and the man replies, "Excuse me, I am here to pick up my charge, Zhan Xian."
Jun?
Qing let's go of me reluctantly, and I turn and catch Jun's eyes.
He eyes are cold. He is angry.
He walks over to me and touches my forehead, "I will take him home...now." He informs the nurse.
"Sir, he has a fever... " The nurse tries to interject, but is promptly cut off by Jun, "I am aware of his condition. I am taking him home, now." He says resolutely and I can feel the temperature in the room drop a few degrees.
He looks at Cheng and Mia, "Thank you for letting me know." He says curtly, before picking me up in his arms.
I don't feel embarrassed and I don't struggle. On the contrary, I throw my arms around him, and make myself comfortable in his arms.
I can feel Qing's angry gaze on Jun, but I ignore it, I ignore her.
"Sir, you need to sign.." The nurse tries to intercept, but is once again stopped by Jun's next words.
"Cheng, take care of it, please." Jun requests and without sparing a second glance at the nurse, my angel carries me out of the medical facility.
He carries me to the car in complete silence. I can feel us drawing surprised looks, but I don't care and neither does Jun.
Once in the car, he touches my forehead once again, "How are you feeling?" He asks, without making eye contact with me.
"I am fine." I shrug.
"Are you upset that I interrupted your intimate moment?" He asks, starting the car and pulling it out of the driveway.
"Are you upset that you walked in on me when I was having an intimate moment?" I retort back feeling a little irritated.
He purses his lips, "Yes, I am upset."
"Why?"
"Because you should have told me that you are seeing someone." He bites out, changing the gear with more force than necessary.
Are you jealous, Jun?
I realize that I am enjoying this...I am enjoying making Jun angry and jealous. His narrowed intense eyes and the way his lips are pressed in a hard line are making me feel a certain way.... and I like it.
"Sorry Jun. You are right, I should have told you." I wear a solemn expression on the outside, but on the inside, I am smirking.
Jun nods and the rest of the journey back home is uneventful.
When the car pulls in the driveway of our home, Jun finally looks at me, "Can you walk?"
"I think I am still a little dizzy..." I lie and look up through my lashes, "But you must be tired... "
Even before I can complete my sentence, Jun is out of the car. Walking over to my side, he swiftly undoes my seatbelt, "Out."
I look at him with what I believe to be a childlike innocence and open my arms, "Jun, help me." I request.
His eyes fall on my lips for a split second, as if by accident and he clears his throat, looking away.
He helps me out of the car and locks it.
I sway on the spot and a split second late, I am once again being carried in his strong arms.
He puts me on my bed, "Rest. " He orders and touches my forehead, "Are you hungry?"
Always.
I deliberately look at his lips, "Yes."
He looks away and crouches down next to the bed and before I can stop him, he rids me of my shoes and socks, "There is some leftover soup." He mumbles, putting my feet up on the bed and leaving the room.
I feel utterly confused as I lie down on the bed and stare at the ceiling. The thoughts of the night before, play in my mind. Something had changed between us. I feel like Jun is scared of me.
Why?
I hear footsteps approaching, and sit up looking at the door.
Jun enters with a try and sets it next to my bed.
I try to leave the bed, but he stops me, putting a firm hand on my shoulder, "No need, I will feed you." He insists, finally catching my eyes.
He hands me a moist napkin, "You will feel good." he gestures me to wipe my face, and I do as I am told. I feel better instantly.
I smile and he nods, taking the napkin away. He picks up the bowl and starts feeding me the soup I had made for us in the morning.
After I have emptied almost the entire bowl, he wipes my lips and sets the tray aside, "What happened?" he asks, his brows knitting.
I shake my head and tell him the truth, "I don't know... after you left, my head started spinning...I felt as if I had run a hundred miles...I felt like someone was suffocating me and then there was darkness."
His thumbs swipe over my cheeks and I realize that I am crying, "It's okay. You are okay." He reassures and pulls me in for a hug.
I feel wetness on my neck.
He is crying... Why?
Am I sick?
Am I going to die?
"Jun, what's wrong with me?" I ask hesitantly.
"Nothing." He answers and cups my face. "I am sorry I wasn't there for you, A Xian." He smiles and wipes his tears before bombarding me with questions, "So tell me about your girlfriend. She seems lovely. Is she in your class? How long have you been dating? Do you want me to call her over this evening."
I am left speechless. I am sure that what I had seen on Jun's face on the way back home was jealousy, and yet now...
"Xian, don't you want to tell me?" He enquires once again cupping my face, "It's okay, take your time. I will be here when you want to tell me, alright?" He reassures, getting off the bed and picking up the tray.
No, don't go!
"Jun, don't go!" I blurt out and hold his wrist.
{Note :- Hey guys, hope you liked the update.
Kinda long rant, please feel free to skip it :-
A few things I would like to get out there, first, I write what I love and I started writing for myself, to express my feelings for WangXian and later YiZhan.
If you have read my earlier stories, you already know how much I love my boys. So why am I saying this now?
I am not a writer by profession, I am human, I have a life outside of Wattpad and I make mistakes. I have good days and bad days like the rest of you. I can't speak for others, but I can't force myself to write. Thus, as much as I want to update regularly, I may not be able to do that on occasions. Also there is my eye problem that greatly hinders my work flow.
Of course, your votes and comments do help keep me going. Because everyone feels the need to be loved and accepted. But when that doesn't happen, I feel dejected and demotivated. For why write, when it's a piece of garbage that no one likes anyway...I am not saying others feel like this, but sometimes I do. I am very self critical and I already feel that I am not a good writer. I have been trying to better myself... but it doesn't seem to be happening.
So, a word or two of encouragement does help.
Yes, there are those of you who stand by me, motivate me and make me smile (you guys know who you are and I love you) but lately, I have begun to feel like maybe my writing is becoming worse than before. If you guys are feeling it too, please point it out (mildly 😢)
That's the end of this rant.
Please Vote to show your support for this update if you have enjoyed it.
Thank you for reading.
Have a nice day.}
