Chapter 39
I am ready to smash her with my fire when Wulfric's strained words fall on my ears.
"Don't come here, Vivi. The witch's crazy. Take Anya and run." So, this Vivi is Wulfric's sister and Anya's mother.
What a crazy family!
"No!" Vivi screams at Wulfric who looks embarrassed and in a lot of pain. "Brother," Vivi chastises Wulfric while snapping at me. She glares at me, her fangs extended as she debates her next course of action.
But I am so forgone in my bloodlust that I have her flunked far away from us in my rage. A wave of invisible fire pushes out of my palms, hitting her right in the chest. She smacks into the wall and then lands on a heap of dead flesh and bones. There is a gaping hole in her chest with the edges having burnt flesh hanging out.
It's a horrible sight.
I hear a crack as well but I don't bother to focus on Vivi anymore. I have Wulfric to deal with.
Anya screams in the background while running over to her mother, inspecting her dead limbs.
From the corner of my eyes, I watch Wulfric as he diffuses the fire on his small crotch and then lunges toward me. I am a split second late and he has me under him in no time.
"I got you under me, once again," he laughs at my face while nudging his hips into my stomach. My eyes widen in shock and fear when I feel his hardness.
But I burnt him.
"And I healed him!"
I drag my eyes away from Wulfric's smug face and manage to spot Alcina who's walked into the garden. Her entire body is covered in a robe, even her hair. Only her face is visible while her nails peek out from the arms of her robe.
She looks haunted and very angry. Like an angry ghost.
And her angry gaze is stuck on Wulfric whose eyes are on me, oblivious to the look of pure possession in Alcina's eyes.
What's this?
Where have I landed?
"What?"
I murmur the question softly, not sure what's really going on. Why do I sense possessiveness in Alcina's gaze? And what the hell is she doing in my mind, reading my thoughts?
The realization is delayed but when it settles, I am instantly pushing Wulfric off my body with a renewed force, making him stumble a bit.
Alcina's gaze flicks toward Wulfric for a moment before she focuses on me. And with a look of pure hatred, she blasts something like black fumes from the base of her palm.
And so, it begins!
My battle of survival begins!
I do not get enough time but then at the last moment, I pull up my arms and fire at her black fumes. An eerie haunted cry echoes into the air when my fire strikes with that of Alcina's black fumes.
It's like a connection is formed between our magical forces because I feel her black fumes pushing at my fire, urging me to push back or be consumed by her black magic.
Alcina screams at me while Wulfric watches in sick pleasure. It's like he's plotting something.
It scares me because it's them against me. They are both masters of their powers and I feel amateur compared to them.
My confidence stutters a little as I process this in my mind, allowing Alcina to corner me against the wall while blasting her black fumes at me. At some point during our battle, her black fumes split and a branch tries to corner me but the fume explodes midway, causing a very bad smell to erupt into the air around us.
The smell burns through my nostrils and I feel slightly dizzy.
Alcina's smirk is the only indication that it was her doing. I need to escape this stink. It's toxic. Closing my eyes for a minute, I quickly imagine the frozen river, Luna. The sweet smell of the water is what I need or I might lose my consciousness.
I would rather die than allow Alcina to play with my unconscious body.
"Why are you doing this?" I push back at her and sigh a little when my magic starts working, cleansing the air around me. I keep the air clean around me only, wanting to create an illusion for Alcina and Wulfric. They should think that they are weakening my strength.
This way it would give me an element of surprise when I at least burn one person with my fire. I am almost desperate to watch one of these evil people burn to death like how Xanthos did.
Alcina's eyes sparkle when she realizes that I am breathing normally, not at all affected by the fumes and their stink.
She glances at Wulfric for a moment and the intensity of her black fumes wanes a bit, making me go alert to their plot. They look at each other but Wulfric's attention seems to shift to me from time to time.
"She's grown," whispers Wulfric and my eyes narrow a bit. He's talking about me that's clear but from Alcina's thunderous expression, it is clear that she hates this information.
"She's grown! Fuck if she has," screams Alcina and the eerie scream makes me want to cover my ears but I resist showing any sort of reaction.
"It's true. You just need to accept it," shrugs Wulfric which enrages Alcina more. It is her blatant hatred that confuses me. I am not sure why she hates me so much?
Just as I think those words, she whirls around to face me. For a moment, I think that she can read my thoughts. I have a shield around my mind and still, if she can hear my thoughts, then that's a very concerning issue. It makes me look weak in front of my enemy if I can't even shield my mind from their onslaught.
"She stole everything from me," Alcina yells while pointing at me and then turning her neck to look back at Wulfric who has a very careless expression on his face.
Wulfric's careless attitude angers Alcina and she stomps her foot. She appears childish. A child with supernatural powers.
"I didn't steal anything," I whisper, quietly, not really wanting to speak to her but she's talking about me and at this point, I can't keep my mouth shut.
Alcina's eyes flash in rage as she focuses them on me. She starts marching towards me and tops only when she is right in front of my face.
I prepare myself, my fire right under my palms. I am so sure, this is the moment when she gives me a clear opportunity to strike by marching right in front of me in her anger.
Just as she puts her face right in front of mine, her cold breath hits me in the face but I don't cringe. Stealthily, I bring my palms up and around her, trapping her in my hold and squeezing her. My fire is unleashed on her as my hands make contact with her robe-covered body.
The fire burns through her and she screams when she realizes the burn. Her flesh burns and the smell of burnt flesh spread around us.
Just as I am able to get a hold of her body, making sure that I burn her completely, she disappears.
No!
"What!" I scream, my rage bursting through me as I grapple into thin air. Wulfric's evil laugh reaches me and I glare at him. His laughter dies down slowly and he looks around nervously.
Anya's busy crying over her mother's dead body. She is oblivious to the battle raging around her.
"You can't escape," I whisper, my lips pulling up in a huge smirk as he thinks of ways to escape. It appears that Wulfric was dependent on Alcina's evil magic.
It makes my work simple!
Wulfric grunts and then in a flash appears in front of me. His smug face startles me but I don't let it affect me. Pushing at him with my flaming hands, I watch in fascination as he burns and his cold body crackles when my fire touches it.
He yells loudly and then pounces on me, using my robe to diffuse the fire but I don't let him put off the fire.
When his groping hands wander towards my thighs, I push at them but I forget all about his other hand. I am trying very hard to push him off me, but he weighs a ton and my magic is all utilised in firing at him.
In no less than a minute, he has me trapped under him, with one hand holding my thighs apart and the other hand landing on my throat. He squeezes my throat, catching my attention and my bloodlust subsides a bit.
"What do we have here?" he laughs at me, while his hips move against my stomach. The movement makes me want to retch but I somehow maintain a cool expression. "You did a good job there, eliminating Alcina."
I am frowning at his words when his hand pushes at my thigh and starts moving upward. Shocked at his boldness, I try to push him once again but this time he grinds his erection against my stomach.
Dipping his head against my neck, I can feel his cold lips as I lie there, pretending to be submissive when on the inside, I am just allowing my magic to rejuvenate.
"I never really thought that I would have a mate," he laughs while his fangs graze against my neck. Just a few minutes more and I will be able to burn him.
I try very hard to focus on him and keep silent because I know that my curiosity would either make him go silent or make him go on a mad spree to hurt me. And I want neither.
"Alcina's such a bad little mate. She's so possessive about me," he says and then I feel his lips on my skin as if he's pouting. But that's not what shocks me. It's his words that shock me the most.
Alcina's his mate? How?
"Look at you! I know who you are. I was the one who killed you before. And I will be the one who will kill you now. Just a few more minutes and I will suck your blood," he sucks at my neck, making me wince when it hurts a bit. I am struggling hard to not relive those memories. "I am just waiting for the Vampire King to come and I'll begin my feast," he mutters over my skin where I feel those words being spoken.
Both his hands now start crawling upward and towards my panties. I try to close my legs but his weight has settled in between them, keeping me spread open under him.
Unable to bear with his riddles anymore, I push him, using my magic to lift him off my body. He roars in anger as he is pushed off and away from me.
"What do you mean by killing me before?" I ask, my voice melodic yet firm. I feel a little better that I am not showing my nervousness. It will boost his ego.
Wulfric laughs as he starts circling around me, coming closer but then backing off when I fire at him. I can't burn him. Not now. Not before he answers my questions.
"Curious little witch, aren't you?" he laughs and then twists his neck as if getting ready for something. I take a step back, alert to his advances.
"Your soul. You are an old soul," he chuckles and then flicks at his hair as if recalling something. "So gullible you were. A young maiden, believing in fairy tales, and then her prince charming sweeps her off her feet."
His words ring a bell in my mind. My head starts hammering as his words echo around us. They sound true and I can connect with his words. As if I have lived them. But how is it possible?
"You were so young and so pretty. I couldn't resist you and when I came to know that you are Dominic's mate, I just couldn't resist."
By this time, I am standing shock-still, listening to those foreign words yet picturing everything that he's saying. My head hammers with the pain and the images as they are running in front of me like a movie. Those images are new but they seem like a memory.
And then, I feel him. His hands, his touch, his body on mine and sleeping in his arms. I remember Dominic with me when I was not me. When I was not in this body but someone else.
What?
When was I with Dominic?
And I have never slept with him, then why do I remember him being inside me?
