Chapter 26
Landing inside the guest room, I rest myself against the wall and heave in a huge sigh.
The wall called to me. It communicated with me and showed me something. Ever since I saw that image in my mind, pushed by the wall; I cannot help but wonder about my fate.
Dominic is my true mate.
That's what the wall showed me and it shocked me to my core.
How is this possible?
Dominic told Fenris that he had a mate and that she died. He has made his life's mission to avenge her; then how can I be his mate?
All I know is that fated mates, soul mates, meet only once. How can I be his true mate when he already had a mate before?
All this information is revolving around my mind, giving me a headache and making me feel nauseous.
Unable to think of anything else, I walk upstairs to my bedroom, allowing my body to focus on the coordination between my eyes and legs and distract it from Dominic and the mate mess.
I open the door to my room and find Sascha sleeping on the bed but her sleep doesn't appear to be peaceful.
She's squirming on the bed as if a child, having a bad dream.
What do I do to soothe her?
Unable to think of anything, I send a soothing wave toward her sleeping form and watch as she stops frowning and a serene expression takes over her face. A few minutes pass by and I continue staring at her sleeping form, feeling envious of her sleep.
I also feel relieved that she can sleep so peacefully. She has not witnessed the demons of life. Mom was right in leaving her in the human town where she grew up like a normal person, without fearing for her life and virtue.
Sighing at the pitiful thoughts for myself, I close the door behind me and walk out of the room towards the Alpha's home. I know of the place and decide to land directly in front of the house by using my teleporting skills.
I am tired but I can still use my energy.
Landing right in front of the Alpha's house, I nearly scream when I see Alpha Connor sucking on Catrina's throat. Scared for Catrina's safety, I think of setting the Alpha on fire. The sight appeared grotesque at first but when I get a clear look at Catrina's pleasure-filled face, I relax.
Oh, Goddess! There's no pain around Catrina. She's happy, and I scent desire.
Embarrassed about the couple's open display of affection, I think of teleporting back to my guest room when Catrina's voice pulls me out of my thoughts.
"Hey, Nikita," she whispers huskily while pushing away Alpha Connor's face away from her mouth. She chuckles a bit at his frown and I am nearly suffocated because of the love that's pouring out of both of them.
Newly wedded or mated couples look like this, I suppose. It's good! The dormant wolf is happy, bubbling with excitement and pleasure which makes me feel good for her.
And a little envious.
Shaking my head at the wayward thought, I glance at Alpha Connor who has a neutral expression on his face as he pulls Catrina in front of his body and rests his chin on his mate's head, rubbing his beard over her hair. Catrina sighs in his arms and then allows Alpha Connor to put his arms around her waist.
He looks like a cloak draped over his mate. Well, if Catrina doesn't have a problem then who am I to comment about it?
"Good afternoon," I whisper while resisting the urge to fidget with my hands. I shouldn't show that I am nervous to speak with the Alpha. I am comfortable enough with Catrina but Alpha Connor's blatant suspicion of my nature makes me a little hesitant.
"Good noon, dear. You teleported here, am I right?" asks Catrina as she subtly shifts out of her mate's embrace and then waves her hand towards the couch placed on the porch.
I nod my head at her in agreement and then proceed to sit on the couch when she smiles at me in invitation.
Alpha Connor sits on the couch and then pulls his mate on his lap where Catrina proceeds to sit comfortably. "Please ignore Connor's behaviour. He is a naturally quiet person."
I sense the partial truth in her sentence but choose to ignore it. At least she makes the effort to bond with me despite her mate's judgemental nature.
"Thank you for speaking with me. I came to inform you both that Fenris and Sierra had to leave due to an emergency," I say but pause when Alpha Connor perks up at my statement and then frowns.
"Why didn't he inform before leaving?" he asks while looking at Catrina. Catrina nods her head and then shakes it a bit, her expression a little cloudy which tells me that they are communicating telepathically.
"Umm. I teleported them to Crimson Shadow on an emergency basis."
"Oh, wow. I would like to experience this teleporting thing once," gushes Catrina while Alpha Connor rolls his eyes playfully at his mate's excitement. I smile at Catrina and nod my head, accepting her request.
"I will speak with Fenris after some time. Thank you for informing me."
"I have come here to inform you that I will be leaving along with Sascha soon, as well," I whisper and wait for a few seconds when Alpha Connor communicates with his mate telepathically.
"You can stay a little longer Nikita," says Catrina and then gets up from her mate's lap to walk over to me. She squeezes my fingers after settling beside me and I take in the surge of energy when her hands touch mine.
"I am sorry, Catrina, but I have found Sascha now. She has a lot of questions and Fenris thinks it will be best to take her to Crimson Shadow," I whisper and watch as Catrina nods her head while glancing at her mate once.
"I understand. It's very good news that we found your lost sibling, Princess Nikita," speaks Alpha Connor while smiling at me for the very first time. His eyes soften a little when he smiles but it doesn't affect me the way when Dominic smiles at me.
"I will be asking if Cayden wants to leave with us," I whisper and watch as Catrina shakes her head.
"No, he doesn't. He visited this morning and informed me that Mila wants to return home. My brother said something to hurt her," she says and then face-palms herself. "Males, I tell you. They cannot control their possessive asses."
Alpha Connor's chest rumbles at his mate's antagonising words but Catrina just rolls her eyes at him and then shakes her head.
"I will ask Mila if she wants to return with me."
"Okay. She's at the packhouse with mom and Connor's mom. Don't ask Cayden. I want him to stay back so that I can drill some sense into him. He and mom will return after a day or two. Is that okay?" she asks me with a concerned expression.
"Yes. Okay. Thank you and Congratulations," I whisper and am surprised when Catrina embraces me warmly.
"It has been a pleasure to meet you, dear. I have two female cousins. My family just keeps growing and it's nothing more than a blessing by the Gods," Catrina's sweet words make me smile as I return her hug.
Our family is indeed growing!

Placing Selene in her crib in her room, I sigh in relief when the child doesn't wake up. I don't know where her mother is but Fenris had called Connor. I was requested by my older brother to bring Selene with me along with Sascha and Mila.
Apparently, Dominic's jet is no longer needed.
"Thank you for the teleport, Nikita. This experience was awesome."
Mila hugs me and then waves at Sascha before walking out of the nursery in Fenris's home.
Teleporting for the third time over such a long distance has taken its toll on me. I feel exhausted however, sleep eludes me. I do not feel sleepy. All I feel is bone-deep tiredness.
How do I rejuvenate myself? I have no answer to this question.
"What is this place?" asks Sascha while turning around in the room and having a look at the nursery decorated with posters of nature. The wall is white in colour but the posters on it with different animals and their cubs are mesmerising.
It doesn't look artificial.
"This is baby Selene's room. Our cousins Cayden and Calum have designed this nursery," I answer while covering baby Selene with her favourite blankie. That's what Selene calls her blanket. A blankie.
"Wow! It's amazing. And that baby's so cute," she whispers and then quickly walks over to me and bends into the crib while kissing Selene's cheeks.
She should see the baby when she's wielding her scary magic.
I smile at her antics while keeping my thoughts to myself and then motion for her to walk out of the room and let the baby sleep.
"Where have we teleported?" she asks while following me and continuing to look around us.
"The place where I found you, what's it called?" I ask instead.
"Autumn Valley. The Wolf's den is run by grandma's son. The day when you came, I had already told grandma that I might be leaving soon. I just had this feeling that I might not see her again," she whispers and then fidgets with her hands, insecure about her words.
She thinks that I might judge her but little does she know that I am the last person on this planet to ever judge her.
Having gone through numerous unfortunate incidents, I have stopped judging people, the handful that I have met.
"It's okay, you are home now," I whisper and squeeze her hands. She smiles at me, her eyes uncertain yet hope shining clear in her eyes. "Let's walk toward the infirmary. That's where Fenris and Sierra. Sierra has hit her head."
"Oh, that's sad. The girl seems to be hyperactive," she whispers conspiratorially, making me glance at her.
"Why do you think that?" I ask, remembering her harsh words to Sierra that day. Sascha shakes her head and then sighs.
"I don't know. I cannot deal with people who are sweet. I always doubt any person who is very accepting of me. I had a very bad experience during my childhood," she whispers and my heart skips a beat. What happened to her?
"There were these sisters who befriended me, became good friends of mine, only to realize that they wanted free meals at Wolf's Den. They were jealous thinking that I had access to those expensive dishes served there," says Sascha, while rolling her eyes.
I sigh in relief when she describes the event. It sounds petty, immature really but I am glad that she has such minor problems and not major ones that I have.
"So how was your childhood?" I ask and wait to hear her answer. Continuing to walk the path toward the infirmary, I watch as the pack members look at us weirdly. They do not recognise her but they can sense her wolf. The wolf is curious but also very eager to meet all these people.
Sascha is a true wolf princess. Unlike me, she is a real werewolf; deserving the title of Princess and sister to the King. I, on the other hand, do not belong here. I might be the Princess, daughter of Alpha Lucian and sister to the King, however, I will always be the witch-sister. Different from them.
Pushing away those thoughts, I focus on Sascha's words as she enthusiastically tells me about her childhood shenanigans and how she was raised by her adoptive father as if she was his blood-daughter. Her life story pleases me and I am sure that if mom were here today, she would have been pleased to hear about Sascha's happy experience of life.
Soon we reach the infirmary and I lead Sascha into the room where Sierra's being kept. The sight of the she-wolf sleeping on the cot with her head bandaged makes me panic.
"Hey," whispers Fenris and only now do I see him inside the room, sitting beside Sierra's cot while holding onto her hand. He has dark circles around his eyes and a flood of guilt flowing through him.
"What did you do?" I ask, not really bothering to hide the accusatory tone out of my voice. I watch as my older brother's shoulder slumps and he buries his head in his hand while squeezing Sierra's hand with the other. It confirms my suspicion.
"I don't know what happened. One moment Sierra was holding me from attacking Dominic and the next moment, I was being flung over by Dominic. Only when the red haze of anger had disappeared, did I notice that Sierra was lying unconscious on the cavern floor with blood dripping down her temple. I know I did that to her."
Sascha keeps quiet behind me while I take my time to process my older brother's words. How can he even think of hurting his mate? He was the one who explained to me about mates and their importance. Has he no respect or love towards his mate?
"Don't bother feeling guilty. Be a little more considerate of her feelings from now on," I whisper, recalling all the moments when he hurt Sierra with his words. She really doesn't deserve this, especially when she has been silently trying to cope with Fenris's multiple roles in this phase of life.
He is her mate. He is the King of Wolves. He is the Alpha of his pack. He is the mediator between other species and the werewolf species. He has multiple roles to play. But she has to make sure that none of their family or pack members feels neglected when Fenris is busy making his place as the King.
Fenris nods at my words while looking at me with wide eyes. He then looks behind me at Sascha who's standing there, awkwardness flowing from her in abundance.
"Hey, Sascha. Come on in. Please sit on the couch," he invites Sascha inside and we watch as she smiles at him and then takes a seat on the couch. A voice from the cot, specifically Sierra's moan makes me look back.
Sierra's eyes open slowly and then she blinks a couple of times before looking around. Wincing a bit in pain, her eyes move from Fenris to me and then to Sascha before settling back on Fenris.
"Is this the infirmary?" she asks while freeing her hand from Fenris's hold. Fenris nods at her question, alert enough to catch any signs of distress on his mate's face.
"Where's Selene?" she asks and then goes to sit up, holding onto her head. Waves of pain and nausea waft from her but she controls herself somehow.
"Selene is sleeping in her room. I have asked Mila to keep a watch," I whisper and watch as Sierra sighs in relief and then looks once at Fenris from the corner of my eyes.
"I should go to her. It's been a long time since I fed her," speaks Sierra and then looks at Fenris. Fenris's eyes go wide and I assume that she has spoken with him telepathically. Watching the couple for a minute, I look at Sascha once who's watching Sierra with a concerned expression. She catches me staring at her and then raises her brows once as if asking me about Sierra.
I smile at her and nod my head, silently informing her that she's fine. Sascha nods and I see relief pouring from her. I sigh in relief thinking that all is well. At least for now.
"I will go get Selene. You should lie down," offers Fenris and then bends down to drop a kiss on Sierra's head. She doesn't wince but I sense her fear when he presses his lips on her forehead.
A few minutes pass by in tense silence. Not knowing what to do, I stare at Sierra and give her a soft smile. The Queen smirks as pain swirls in her eyes. She knows I am bad at small talk.
"Nikita, please sit. It was amazing. You can teleport long distances!" Sierra exclaims and then winces when her own voice raises.
"You should be quiet and rest," snaps Sascha and then gasps. Raising a hand over her mouth, she scrunches her face when Sierra stares at Sascha in a shocked stupor. A few minutes pass by and Sierra's eyes narrow at Sascha.
"I am sorry. I didn't mean to sound rude. What I mean is please don't speak, your head is still tender," Sascha explains and I watch as Sierra's face goes back to her normal smile and then she shakes her head.
"It's fine," whispers Sierra and then rests her head against the pillow, closing her eyes shut.
I sense both the females' wolves close to the surface, taking in each other's dominance. They assess each other. A few minutes pass by and I watch as both the wolves mutually back away.
The dominance was the same. Only Sierra's wolf looked calmer, mature and more collected as compared to Sascha's flustered newness.
