Chapter one: A glance once again
Chelsea married him during her third year in Sunshine Island. He moved in during her second year, after she had rose Volcano Island. He was at the same age as her. When she first asked him his name he would laugh and say his name which would cause her to get flabbergasted by a mouth full of words.
He was different from anyone who ever stepped in this island. His hair was a tad longer than the others, shaggy and the perfect shade of blonde she had ever seen. His eyes were slant, and blue. He was a true gentleman, coming from a wealthy family who expect him to have that noble behavior. He would talk about the gems he would dig up at the mines, how he wanted to have a simple life and how he had envied Chelsea for her to take care of such a large farm. It may be so but he would find determination on his new found inspiration and tried his best to help out with his uncle and cousin.
Chelsea gave him the simplest things she could forge near the ocean and its shore; he would blush and say something heartwarming about how thoughtful and generous she was about how much this was his favorite things. It continued. Their dancing and flirtation. Then she boldly presented him a ring and he flushed so red and accepted, but he proposed to her, a blue feather under her nose and she accepted. They married a week later, him in a white over all suit and she in a princess dress with a veil.
They were happy, but Chelsea realized it was short lived. He was always busy. He would reason that work always held him back and he couldn't help with the chores. He thought the animals were cute, but he didn't help. Chelsea always believed that marriage was a partnership between two lovers, but Will very rarely did anything. But she loved him. And loved his flaws regardless.
When they first made love, he was so experienced and taught her so many things. She was surprise of course, how could such a prince like man be this controlling. He was the first man to touch her, see her so intimately. Yet sex with Will was short, pleasurable, but short. It always left her wanting more, but Will was always busy, always making up excuses to continue. Some nights he didn't want to at all. Sometimes it made Chelsea feel ugly and unattractive. She stopped wearing dresses, stopped making herself cute and beautiful. She wore her overalls and kept her bandana on her head. It wasn't like Will cared anyways.
Then - then he looked her way.
Mark always saw her. Chelsea thought that he didn't see her, but Mark saw her the first day he came to this island and he would lecture her about how she takes care of her plants. She was pretty, but then again there wasn't a lot of people to compare her to in the island, but even when more eligible women came into town Chelsea was still prettier than all of them. Her long brown hair that she often cut and style, but Mark thought she was prettier with any cut and any style. He tried to woo her, but he was horrible at flirting and would always end up her thinking that he was just too friendly. Maybe it was his fault, he would always show how cheerful and open he always was but that didn't turn out well, not at all. Maybe nice guys do finish last.
Then he came into the picture. Waltz right in and took her away from him. With his smooth words, his wisdom, and Mark felt so inadequate compared to that wealthy man who traveled around the world. All Mark ever been to was his childhood city he grew up in and some farms he found interesting. Chelsea escaped his grasp before she was even in it. He attended their wedding and all Mark could think about was how she could've been his.
She was happy and Mark thought it was for the best for him to look away. He cursed himself for not even trying hard enough to make her look at him in a different way. Then suddenly she wasn't happy. Her hair grew, but Julia commented how she never came into their home anymore for a haircut. Lanna grumbled how she didn't asked any of her clothes anymore. That's when Mark look her way again and he saw her wilting. Chelsea who was always blossoming and blossoming, yet now she was wilting. She didn't looked happy and when he decided to take a walk around her farm for a visit, he saw her nudging at her soil and sighed softly before plopping on her ground and staring up at the setting sky with shiny eyes.
It was then did Mark decide that if Will couldn't keep her happy then he could.
