Everly's POV
I ran through the woods hearing howling wolves.I pushed myself to run faster seeing the edge of our territory.I shrieked as a rogue tackled me down.Since I wasn't with old enough to shift all's I could do was scream for help.
HELP HELP I screamed trying to kick the rogue but I wasn't strong enough.I cried thinking this was it I was going to die and I heard a loud snarl and the rouge was pushed off me.
Everly honey are you okay my mom whispered helping me up.I couldn't tear my eyes away from the group chasing after the rouges.I held onto her arm and she led me to our house.I was shaking and she held me close.
"Your safe honey your safe"I only nodded and my brother Nathan knocked and came in my room.
"Hey are you okay"
I'm fine I whispered.
"We caught them okay your safe"
Okay I whispered and my mom kissed my temple.

Alpha Jax I whispered as he was in my bedroom doorway.
"Hello Everly are you feeling okay"
"Yes I'm fine thank you for coming and checking on me"
"Your welcome Everly..it's my job to keep everyone safe.But I'd very much prefer you to not go outside the territory until after your 18 understood"
"Yes Alpha Jax"
"Good"He left my room and I seen him talking to my mom and brother.
"She needs to be safe I will not lose her understand"
"Yes Alpha"
"Her scent will be starting to form soon since her birthday is almost upon us"My mom nodded and then faltered.She looked scared at the thought of my birthday.I made myself known and they all went silent Alpha Jax leaving without another word.
"Would you like something to eat honey"
"No I'm fine"
"Okay honey"
"I should get going Tally is waiting for me"He kissed my mom's cheek and my forehead squeezing my shoulder.
"Stay out of trouble okay"
"Yes I will"He nodded and left to go back to be with his mate.He was third in command to Alpha Jax and my mom couldn't be prouder since he took over my father's position when he lost his life in battle.Nathan was just like him though protective and did everything he needed to do to keep the people he loves safe.
"Honey it's dinner time I made your favorite"
"I'll be right down mom"I walked downstairs to see chicken alfredo in two bowls on the table set up with silverware and everything already.We ate in silence and Jax's words kept playing in my mind.Why did I need to be safe would I eventually play an important part in this pack like my brother.I took a quick shower and laid in bed quietly.
Jax's POV
I walked into the prison cell my wolf growling and pacing his cage as the thought of earlier came to mind.I nodded to the guard and he unlocked the cell.The prisoners were chained to the the wall by silver cuffs.
Let us go they growled and I snarled.
Not on your lives I snapped.
The girl was tormenting us the one growled.
She was doing nothing wrong I growled and the one smirked.
"Hm someone has a soft spot for that little angel I mean who wouldn't though her hot little body in those tight shorts and her sports bra made we want to mount her right there"My wolf tried to gain control and I denied it.If I snapped now I would kill them both.
You will not speak of her like that I growled and he laughed.
What why not she didn't have a mark or obviously a mate that keeps an eye on her he snorted and I walked over to him grabbing his throat tightly in my hand.
She is someone's mate I growled.I released him and he was panting.I slammed the cell and stalked across the yard to see Everly in her window reading.My heart started racing and I fought the urge to run up to her room and kiss her.She couldn't know yet she wasn't ready.Her sapphire blue eyes scanned the area and I hid behind a tree not risking be caught mate or not.I seen her light flick out and I walked to the main pack house and upstairs to my room.My room was directly across from hers.I had caught her staring multiple times as I buttoned my shirts or pulled them over my head.She never knew I caught her though.I always made sure to give her a glimpse even if I knew she wasn't looking.I climbed into bed and patted her side.
Soon flower you will be all mine I whispered and I dozed off to dreams of Everly.

Everly's POV
I woke up in a cold sweat crying as my body shook.
Sh it's okay it's okay I whispered hugging my pillow and I rocked myself.
Your safe your home I whispered hugging my pillow tighter as I laid flat on my back.My heartbeat raced and I reached for the glass of water on my nightstand taking slow sips.I debated on climbing in my mom's bed.I hated sleeping alone especially once I lost my dad.He always used to lay with me when I had nightmares.I touched the frame gently it was a framed photo of me and my dad.I hugged it closely and I got out of bed and sat down in my window seat.I wrapped my favorite throw blanket around me and sang my lullaby.I climbed back into bed keeping the picture close.I laid my head on his shirt and I closed my eyes as the tears fell.
Jax's POV
I woke up to my wolf whining.I seen Everly in her chair her lips moving gently as she covered herself up.She had tears going down her cheeks as her shoulders started to shake.
Sh flower sh im here your safe I whispered and she rubbed her eyes tiredly.It must of been a bad nightmare because usually I wasn't effected by them.I watched her climb back in bed and I did the same watching the minutes tick by.When I didn't see her up again I dozed back off.
