[20] LIVE IN YOUR OWN SKIN
hey everyone!
this is going to be a bit of a serious conversation, so if you're not interested, please don't feel forced to read this (:
anyways, let's get to the story part.
I was watching a video, and I noticed one common thing throughout it:
All the girls had perfect skin. There was no scars, no acne, and they were all perfectly tan.
And the first thought that comes to my mind is "Wow, I wish my skin was perfect. "
It took me a few minutes to fully comprehend what I had just said.
I have struggled with low self -esteem for a very, very long time. I refuse to take any pictures of myself and sometimes I break down because I can't do something right.
and so the though came back to me.
Did I really wish to have perfect skin?
And my answer came faster than I expected.
No.
I have scars from mosquito bites, injuries and other things. My skin is naturally discolored and I'm very very pale. I get the occasional pimple.
But that's okay.
Because, to me, my skin is the most important thing about myself.
Because if you don't like what skin you live in, how are you going to like yourself?
I'm okay with all these scars.
I'm okay being pale.
I'm okay not looking like a supermodel.
Because that makes me, me.
I know I'm not the only one who struggles with self esteem issues. Mine is probably not even the worst.
So I wanted to post this.
It's okay if your skin isn't tanned to perfection.
It's okay if you have a pimple or pimples.
It's okay if you have scars.
It's okay if you have an ugly birthmark.
You know why?
Because that makes you, you.
Without these little things, chances are, you would be a different person .
Your skin?
If it's pale, it just means you prefer to do other things.
Your face?
So what if you have a pimple? It will go away. Don't panic. you don't change because of one bump of skin. You don't change if you have millions of bumps of skin.
Your birthmarks?
They're like stars, each one eventually connecting to create a constellation.
Your scars?
They don't define you. They show people that you've fought battles that some people could never think of doing.
Don't be afraid to show skin.
Don't cover up.
Show everyone the beauty that is you.
I know this came out of the blue, and I normally don't do stuff like this because it makes me vulnerable and I know I won't do this again for a very long time.
But this is so important to me.
And I hope it's just as important to you.
so love your skin.
live in your skin.
