Prologue
Present Time
A disaster has just ended upon us. The world is safe. I am made new. A new force has brought forth to me. The world is now in a new age of reconstruction. The world won't be one Apocalypse can rule. He will not destroy our home for his sole survival. We did it. The X-Men did. We beat a god. I looked at the sky, it was pure, not a cloud in the sky. I just stopped a god. I felt great power come out of me. I didn't know what it was, but I knew it was gone. It was there only for a moment before in a blink of an eye it disappeared. I looked at everyone before landing back to earth. My feet touched the ground before I felt my chest burn. I fell down. Gravity pulled me to the soil where a few minutes ago, was a war zone. I heard his voice.
"Charles." I said touching my chest before Hank brought him to me.
"Blaire. Blaire are you alright?" He said hugging me and putting his palm on my cheek.
I only put my head on his shoulder before I felt a stinging sensation in my chest.
"What's wrong?" Charles said looking at with worry and probing me with that one question.
I mumbled, "Jean."
I was out of breath. I groaned. Somethings happening. I got up before Charles pulled me back down. My knees wobbled. What's happening to me?
"Blaire! Hank can help you. " Charles said worried keeping me close.
The truth was, Hank couldn't help me. No one could. Jean gripped her head before getting on her knees. I closed my eyes shut. My powers were enhanced and I can feel myself on the verge of power. Such power yearns for a change. The phoenix. This powerful cosmic force yearns for a new host. And I think that host is me. I can feel it. When I mimicked Jean's powers, I felt it. I felt the energy and I felt running through my veins. It disappeared but somehow its calling me. Jean had let it go for a split second but she couldn't control it so I used her powers as a median. I shouldn't have done so, but it was the only way. Jean groaned as she sent a physic blast towards us. Charles protected me getting in the way. He closed his eyes but didn't feel the pulse. I stopped the blast from hitting anyone of us.
"Jean control the power!" yelled Charles.
"Erik help me up." I say, but Charles wouldn't let me leave. He wouldn't let me go.
"Charles, let me see if I can help her. Like you've done to me." I said in a caring, sweet tone.
Charles let me go, releasing my wrist before Erik helped me make my way to Jean. I touched her forehead before saying telekinetically, "Jean? Jean?"
Then I saw it. A red fiery bird heading towards me before Jean sent another blast at me. The bird seemed to be pure energy, like the sun. It was a flame. I couldn't quite see Jean in her mind. All I saw was the bird. That bird knew I was there and she went towards me. Jean pushed me out of her head, sending me a physic blast at me. This time I was hit sending me back where I came from. I couldn't protect myself. I landed closer to Charles than to Jean. Erik didn't hit the ground since he was hovering over the ground. Charles held my head before looking at me. His crystal blue eyes full of worry and they were slightly afraid of what was going to happen now.
Charles put his finger on his temple before saying telekinetically, "Jean! Jean, you must control your powers! You can kill everyone if you don't. Remember what I taught you. Control it Jean."
"It's leaving me Professor. I can feel it disconnecting. Its separating from me. Its letting me go. It wants someone else now. Professor, help her. Get her out of here. " Jean replied in agony. "It's coming for her Professor, run!"
Charles looked at me before saying, "Blaire run. "
"But why me?" I ask before getting up and looking at Erik.
Erik got in front of me before saying, "Charles is right. You need to leave. We will keep Jean and that thing as long as we can."
I was confused. I don't have anything to offer this thing. It wants me. Why? I didn't do anything to make it angry. I looked at Raven who nodded at me. I looked at Jean and the other way. Should I run or should I help Jean? I got up and took one step before Jean started talking.
"Blaire, the force, it knows. Your power. The phoenix is the embodiment of life and she sees it in you. " Jean says still struggling.
"Why Jean? I can't offer it anything." I said halting myself, turning my attention to her response.
"Because you are different, Blaire. The force seeks a change. And you are the key for a new phoenix era. You will change everything. She knows it and she wants a new host. One that can control the power and one that is like you. Kind hearted. You're powers were amplified which is why the Phoenix now wants you as a host. You are its future." Jean says before her eyes glow red.
I shook my head no, "Jean stop it. Please. Fight it."
I pleaded but she didn't listen since her eyes glowed red. It was like she was looking at me for the first time. She examined me before acting. She rose her hands up before the bird I saw in her mind appeared before us. It was great in size. A ball of pure fire and energy, the Phoenix. I looked at the bird alarmed. She was now using Jean's eyes to see and using her body to make sure it me she wants. I stood there frozen before Jean directed her attention to me. Erik stood in front of me.
"Erik! What are you doing?" I said alarmed.
Erik said, "I'm doing what is right. Blaire stay behind me and run. Don't look back."
I double blinked before saying, "What about you guys? Charles, Raven, Hank. ..I can't leave them."
It was too late. Jean separated me from Charles and Erik pushing them in separate directions, leaving me there right in its path. The bird took over Jean's body and actions. This Phoenix wasn't a laughing matter.
Jean spoke for the bird, "I am the Phoenix. I am fire! I am the child of the universe. You are the chosen one. You will bring balance to the universe itself. Come to me child. Embrace your power and your destiny."
I felt myself hover over the ground. She held out her hand. Was she trying to introduce herself? I watched as Jean said, "No!"
She tried containing it but the bird knew she was only trying to protect me. So she didn't fight with her host, she let her go. Jean fell to the ground while the bird stood in front of me. She was at least a few meter away. That was it. Suddenly the bird came towards me. The living embodiment of fire was coming for me and nothing would stand in its way.
