6. Lashell

Cole is still standing against the wall, shaking. I have to break this silence, and show what I really am. Luckily, I see something hang on a wall, it looks like a gun. Score! I grab it from the wall. 'Where do you guys use this for?' I ask, inspecting the gun extensive. Cole looks at me with big eyes. 'F-For when... When someone is too sick to... To complete the... S... Simulation...' He says, stuttering. I inspect the gun. 'Well. Then you wouldn't mind if I use it on one of your sick minds.' I say, and shoot Cole. Now I shouldn't think about shooting people or not. These people have to die. 'COLE!' Jenna yells. She craws over to Cole's body, what is laying lifeless on the floor. 'Well, Jenna. If you want to live, you should listen to me.' I say, and point the gun at her. She stands up, and gives me a mad stare. 'I am not scared of you.' She says. 'Come on, do it! I am ready to sacrifice myself! I mean, who the hell wants me though.' I still point the gun at her, but walk over to her and grab her by her shoulder. 'Come with me. Let's see what Rachel thinks of you being here.' I say, and bring her to the cells.

While walking, I keep my gun to her head. I stop at cell number 42, Rachel's cell. She is sitting in the corner, still shaking from her simulation.

Jenna stares at Rachel. 'Please! Please don't take me!' She yells while still not looking. But when she looks up, she gasps. 'J-Jenna?' She asks stuttering. 'Hello, Rachel.' She says, annoyed. 'Why... What is going on?' She asks. 'I think Jenna here has to explain a lot.' I say, while still pointing the gun at Jenna's head. Rachel looks from me to Jenna. 'I think this conversation would be better if you took it in the cell.' I say, and open the cell door. 'Here. Use this if she wants to kill you.' I say and hand Rachel my gun. Rachel grabs the gun, shaking. I close the door behind me and go sit on the floor.

'Well, tell her Jenna. What do you have to explain?' I force her. 'Nothing! I am not going to tell her!' Jenna says and crosses her arms. I laugh. 'Then it would be better if I'd tell.' I say. Rachel looks confused at me. 'What?' She asks. 'She has to explain that she is indeed a big traitor. That she indeed killed your parents. And that she made up the simulations.' I say. Rachel looks shocked at Jenna, but Jenna looks away. 'Ah, shut up!' She says. 'Who are you to get in this family drama!' I laugh. 'If it comes to me, I can fix a lot of family drama.' I say. 'Well, now it's not about you.' Jenna says arrogant. I laugh. Jenna gets up and walks out of the cell. Rachel and I are left behind.

'What did you mean with that?' Rachel asks. She looks at me while laying the gun down. 'Well... I know your parents died. So are mine. But, my sister didn't kill her.' I say. She stares at me. 'How come are they dead?' She asks. 'Oh... Just a stupid explosion... Made by the city.' I say. While thinking of it, I really wanted to cry. But now, there are more things to think about. 'Are you serious, how awful!' Rachel says. I shake my head. 'Well, it's not as terrible as your story.' I say. 'Yes! Yes it is! I mean, an explosion made by the city themselves, what were you thinking?!' Rachel says. I sigh. 'I think you better might go to sleep, Rachel. It's late though.' I say. She nods and I stand up. 'Goodnight, Rachel.' I say, and walk to the cell on the other side. I had to sleep somewhere.

'Okay, Lashell. Now it's your turn!' Maysley says, and I laugh. 'No way!' I yell laughing. 'Just do it! Come on, it's not that worse!' Rye says. I laugh. 'Okay, okay. But just be sure mom and dad won't find out. I mean, they will get freaking mad at us.' I say. Maysley nods and hands me the spoon with cinnamon. 'Gosh, I'm nervous.' I laugh. Maysley, Rye and Clary all laugh. 'You can do it!' Clary says. 'Okay then...' I say and put the cinnamon in my mouth.

Clouds of cinnamon get out my mouth and the others laugh their asses off. 'Gosh, I can't breathe!' Maysley laughs too hard. I almost fall on the floor from laughing and I cough. Trace doesn't trust it at all. 'Guys, are you sure she won't suffocate?' He asks and grabs me by my arm. Indeed, I feel like suffocating. I cough harder, but this time not from laughing. 'Lashell, are you okay?!' He asks. I slowly nod. 'I told you guys, this isn't a good idea.' Trace says. Maysley laughs even harder. 'Okay, okay...' She says. I slowly get up.

I wake up, at midnight. I hear noises coming from the laboratory. I get up and listen.

'This girl is stronger than we thought. She nearly killed me.' I hear Jenna's voice say. 'That can't be true, Jenna. No Mind Sister is like that. You were just weak.' I hear Sheila's voice say. 'Weak?! I've had years of training. And still she was stronger than me. I know something is different about that girl.' Jenna says. 'I mean don't you believe than she is just as bad as the other Mind Sisters? All Mind Sisters and Brothers could do an act like that. And if you thought just for a second that she is just like the others, you are lying to yourself. Cause I know she is not. I've seen her screen. 99 percent.' I head back and do if I am asleep when Jenna walks out of the door. She stops at my cell. 'Wake up, rebel.' She says. I 'wake up' and stand up. 'Sheila wants to talk to you.' She says and pulls me out of the cell. I don't know why, but I didn't feel as strong as the day before. I just let myself getting pulled away by this arrogant face.

Sheila is standing in front of a screen. My screen.

'Lashell Lavanchy.' She says. Jenna throws me on a chair and puts a rope around my arms and the armrests. I stare at her with an angry look. '99 percent... It's still hard to believe...' Sheila says. I sigh. 'What is the point of this?' I ask. Sheila laughs. 'The point of this is that 99 percent is not fully Mind Sister, in your case.' She says. 'But what is that one percent then?' Jenna laughs from the corner of the room. 'Maybe that one percent is her being a stupid mindless rebel.' She says and goes sit on an office chair. 'Why should she be a rebel?' Sheila asks Jenna. 'Because I saw her. She ran away with her Mind Sister, Maysley Lavanchy.' Jenna says and grins. 'Maysley Lavanchy, right?' She says and opens Maysley's page. I say nothing. I can hardly breathe. Maybe it's because it's too warm in here, or it's just the reason that they'll soon find out. 'Maysley Lavanchy. 99,5 percent.' Sheila says. 'Wow, didn't expect that to happen since history.' Jenna says. 'They ran away. Maysley and her other friends.' Sheila says. 'Wait, who?' I ask when I can finally breathe again. 'Maysley Lavanchy, Rye Underwood and Clary Obsin.' Sheila says. I sigh. 'Jenna. Go find Aaron. Together you have to kill them all.' Sheila says. I try to get up, but it won't work. 'Leave them alone!' I yell with tears in my eyes, but Jenna slaps me in my face. 'You stay here.' She says and one of the soldiers in the corner points his gun at me. I won't move. I just wish to be free. What have I gotten myself into?
