29. Maysley
I knock three times on the door of my quarters. Drew is the one to open the door, and smiles. Then he sees our panicked faces and shoves us inside. 'Spill.' He tells us, as we stand in the living room. The others are silent as we arrive. They are resting on the couch, watching us. I look at Clary and she looks away. I guess I'll have to tell them. 'Guys, whatever happens, please don't be mad.' I shakily say. Rye stands up and takes both of my hands in his. 'I won't.' He whispers. I mentally wince.
'Well, Clary and I didn't go to the flower garden...' I start. Rye raises an eyebrow and Drew folds his arms. Clary plays with the hem of her shirt, while I continue. 'We went to the training center.' Rye smiles. 'But that isn't bad! You could've just told us, Mays.' I sigh deeply. Trace stand up too. 'What happened?' As he touches the purple wound on my neck. I wince and pull away from him and Rye. Rye finally spots it and grows worried. 'What happened?' If it were that easy... I mentally say to myself. 'Yesterday after Carissa gave you that piece of paper, She dared me for a run battle, and the winner got you.' I quickly continue before Rye can interrupt. 'I won the battle, and she started to say things about Lashell. I said something back that threw her off the edge, and she slapped me. I punched back and she shoved me onto the ground, choking me. It ended up with me punching her, and being banned from the training center.' I take a deep breath and close my eyes. 'And now you won't ever forgive me for what I did.' I add. The only thing I hear are the deep breaths around the room. It's way too quiet...
A few seconds later Rye answers. 'You're right.' I open my eyes, confused. 'I can't forgive you.' He adds. I narrow my eyes. 'What do you me-' But he interrupts me. 'Why the hell did you have a battle with her, about me and not telling me?' He raises his voice. I shrug. 'Rye, it really is not that bad...' He slams his fist against the wall. 'OFCOURSE IT IS!' He shouts. I back away from him. I never had seen him this mad... Not even close. 'She was just an innocent girl, who seeked attention! Don't just take that away from someone!' He frowns. A tears slips out of my eye. How can he say this? Trace lays a hand on Rye's shoulder. 'Calm down man.' He says to him. Rye shrugs off his hand, and backs up. 'I can't believe you.' He points his finger at me. At least he calmed down... 'You should've told me.' After those last words, he walks out of the door, making sure to slam it hard. Leaving me breaking down to the ground, and Clary throwing her arms around me.
An hour later, I have calmed down a little bit. Clary has placed me onto the couch, with her on my right, and Trace on my left. 'You alright?' He asks. I shake my head. 'N-no.' I answer him, shakily. Drew is pacing through the room, looking rather angry. 'Drew?' I ask. He speaks up. 'I can't believe my brother did that to you! You are the innocent one here!' A couple of tears break out of my eyes and I stand up. Drew stops pacing and turns to me. I throw my arms around him, to calm him down. 'Don't worry about it. It'll come out good.' Drew sighs. 'How do you know that? My brother is so stubborn.' He says. I chuckle through my tears. I pull away from the hug. 'Because I know him.'
After I had dried my tears, a disturbing tune came out of the walls. 'Please, will every citizen of the OSRB attend the canteen to have supper? Thank you for your attention, and have a great night.' I can't get this sinking feeling off of my chest. Something is up. Only I don't know what. 'Come guys, let's hope Rye will be there.' Trace says, and we follow him out of the door.
We are all sitting at our table, but Rye is nowhere to be seen. Neither one of us has spotted Rye yet. While the others went to grab some food, Trace stayed with me. To make sure I was okay. I had told him I was. But deep down I was sinking. Sinking into this deep ocean, with no way out. It all grew worse when Trace gasped. 'What is it?' I ask him. Suddenly I wished I had never asked. I hear loud laughing being heard a few tables further. I turn around and gasp.
Rye is sitting at a table, along a few other guys and girls, and has his arm around Carissa. He is laughing, like there is no problem. Carissa spots me, and grins. She turns to Rye and pushes her lips onto his. He gladly obliges and lays a hand on her cheek, the other holding her middle. I watch as they have a huge make out in the middle of the canteen. There are loud cheers being spread around the room. And they loudly clap for them. They part and both turn red. I stand up from our table, and am ready to storm out of the room, when Trace stops me.
'Don't.' he pleads. I shake my head, tears spilling out of my eyes. How can he betray me like this? How can Rye do this to me? 'I'm sorry.' I answer. I run away from the scene, and run till my feet are bringing me onto the ground...
