I looked up.It was the girl I met earlier.

"Hey.What are you doing here?"

"I was just visiting. Then I saw you here. I realised I did not talk to you properly when I asked you directions. So I came up to you. I hope I am not intruding."

"No.Of course not.I am Aria."

"I am Aurora.You can call me Aura.Wait a minute.Are you the princess?"

"Uhh.Yeah."I felt uncomfortable talking about my royal status.She genuinely smiled at me.

"Whoa. This is cool. I never thought I would meet you on my first day here. And that you would be so friendly."

What was that supposed to mean?

"Why are you here?I mean the Testing Area?"

"Oh that.I am kind of,like an exchange student."

"Exchange student?"

"That means you would not know that I am not a projector."

"What?"

"Yeah.I am here to work as a Mediator for you and Non Projectors.Thats why I am training. I think I am the third person here. This program is real slow."

"I am sure, you would like here. What is Mediator?"

"Mediators, well mediate. I mean we form a link between projectors and Non Projectors. Earlier projectors worked as Mediators but now Non Projectors are also included. Its, actually good.I love this place."

She seemed really nice.I would have trouble adjusting if I went to a new place. I found it really hard to think I did not anything about Mediators.

"So where are you staying?"

"At the guest quarters.I actually went there and checked in. Then I thought to see all buildings. And here I am."

"How did you decide to become a Mediator?"

"Well.I was actually, kind of, recruited.Its a really complicated story.Anyway tell me about your studies and projection. I haven't seen any projector in action."

I never told anyone about my rare ability. But something told I could trust Aura. She gave a friendly vibe, and I felt I could tell her.

"I am a Mind Shifter. I have different kind of magic. I try not to use my abilities, though."

"Whoa.I read about Mind Shifters.You guys could plant anything in anyone's head, right?Cool."

"It's not that glamorous.The most I could do is read someone's emotions.And that gives me a huge headache and drains my energy."I shook my head.

"It is really cool. At least I think so."

It was nice she thought that way.

"What do you study?"

"I was about to graduate in 2 years.Then I started training for "Mediator" and could not complete that."

She seemed so far away.

"When we're you recruited?"

"About three months ago.I got selected in an interview. And now, I have to study all about your world here."

I did not know what to say. So I stayed quiet. It was my perfect move.

"At present there are no recruits other than me. I really hope more people would show up.I mean some of the others who were interviewed did not make it. I am really sceptical about my training here."

"I am sure it would be fine. Did you know who interviewed you?Maybe that person would train you."

"I do not know his name. He seemed really serious during the interview. He was maybe 1 or 2 years older than me. Thats why I was surprised to see him there."

"It's not uncommon for projectors to work like that when they graduate. And, I think they thought it was easy for a young person to interrogate you. It would help then to know how serious you were about being a Mediator."

"Yeah.That might be true."

"There you go."

"Where is the cafeteria?I totally forgot about that."

"I'll show you.Let's go."

I picked up the book making sure I had the paper then got up. I pointed all of the landmarks to Aura, so she would find it easy if she got lost. She was excited about everything. The garden, the fountain, the art room, everything.

We finally reached the cafeteria, and I found something really bad.The corner table was occupied by Lucas and Lexie. And they seemed to be in a heated argument judging by their faces.

I heard what Lexie was saying.

"There are 1,000 kinds of stupid in the world.You would be in top ten.You could maybe top the list."

This was bad.Really bad.What had happened now?

"Yeah and you are so cruel, movie villains would take lessons from you."

Lucas had snapped at her, and it only meant a full blowout was due any minute.

"Uh, guys?"

"What?"They turned towards us.

They both had identical angry look on their faces.

"This is Aura."

"Hi!"

They seemed to cool down when they saw her.

"Let's sit here."

We sat and I introduced my friends.

"This is Lexie.And Lucas.My close friends, who keep fighting all the time."

"Nice to meet you too."

"I am so sorry about this, Aura.I will catch up with you later. I have a class now."

She left.It's understandable.And she did have a class, but 15 minutes later.

"What were you arguing?"I couldn't help but ask.

"This and that.She is so bitter and holds a grudge for very long time."

"You do annoy her."

"She can't be like you or Chris.You don't fight with me every moment."

"I really don't feel good about that."

He nodded and turned towards Aura.

"Hey there!I haven't seen you before?"

"I am kind of new here."

"I guess Aria has been showing you around.Sorry you had to see that. So
what's your specialization?"

"Um..."

She looked kind of uncomfortable.
I decided to interrupt.

"Don't you have any class now?"

He got up.

"Catch you guys later."

I turned towards her.

"I did not want to be different.All of you are projectors and have cool magic. And I don't have any friends here. I did not want to jeopardise that."

I understood where that came from.But honestly my friends were not that
shallow. They respected everyone.

"You don't have to worry about that.We would never do that."

She smiled.

"Thanks Aria."

We brought sandwiches.Aura was people watching.

"Who is that?"

She was pointing towards Carl.

"That's my instructor, Carl.Why?"I said nonchalantly.

"He was the one who interviewed me."
