How to handle bullies
Lorelei's POV
When Lorelei arrived home, she
saw Elizabeth pacing up and down. When she saw Lorelei, she sighed with relief. "I'm glad you're back. It started rain so I sent Charles to get you", she said, gripping Lorelei's shoulders. Lorelei pursed her lips and tried wriggling out of Elizabeth's grip. "I'm fine", she said. "You're soaked", said Elizabeth, wearing a concerned expression on her face. "Come on. I already prepared a bath for you", Elizabeth pulled Lorelei's hand. When they reached the bathroom, Elizabeth took Lorelei's bag. The bath tub was filled with bubbles. "Thought you might like it", Elizabeth smiled ear to ear before leaving Lorelei in the bathroom. Lorelei wondered why she was so kind. Is it because she thought of Lorelei like her own daughter? And the way she was always jumpy. It was strange. Something is definitely wrong. Lorelei took off her wet clothes and dropped them on the floor. She got in the bubble bath and relaxed. The bubbles helped her release some tension. She stayed in there for 5 minutes then she heard a knock on the door. "How you fine in there?", Elizabeth asked through the door. "Yeah", Lorelei responded. Then she relaxed again for a few more seconds then she heard another knock. "I said I'm fine", Lorelei shouted, annoyed. "Aren't you the lovely tweetie", she heard Kyle say sarcastically. Lorelei sighed them got out of the bath. She wrapped the bathrobe around her and picked up her clothes. She tried to dry them up so we won't make a mess. She opened the door and saw Kyle going to his room, which was across her room. "Creep", Lorelei muttered. She walked downstairs looking for Elizabeth. "Already done", she asked. Lorelei nodded. "Where do I put these?", she asked, looking around. "Oh, just hand them over to me. You go get warm and comfortable", she took the wet uniform from Lorelei and walked away. Lorelei ran upstairs heading to her room. She placed her hand on the door knob. Just as she was about to turn it, she heard Kyle's voice. It sounded as of he was fighting with someone. Lorelei couldn't help but listen. She tiptoed to his door and listened. "Yeah yeah. I know. I told you I'll get it ready by Friday for him. He should calm his tits", Kyle scolded the person he was talking to. Lorelei guessed he was talking to someone over the phone because she only heard a one sided conversation. "I don't know yet but I'll make it work. The Snow will be delivered", he said. Snow? What is that?, Lorelei thought. Then it went quiet for a while. Before Lorelei could turn away, the door opened. Kyle scrunched his face. "Can I help you?", he asked. "I wanted to asked about the other bathroom you were talking about earlier", Lorelei lied. Kyle looked behind her then at her again. "So you waited for me? Outside my bedroom to ask me that?", he asked. "Couldn't you ask mom or something?". "She's busy", Lorelei answered. Kyle sighed. "I'll give you the little tour later. I'm also busy", he closed the door. "I'm also busy", Lorelei mocked him. "I heard that", Kyle yelled. "You were supposed to", Lorelei teased then went to her room.
Lorelei wore black leggings, a purple hoodie and a pair of socks. Elizabeth bought up some hot cocoa for here. "I don't want you to be getting a flu now", Elizabeth smiled. "Thank you", Lorelei said. Elizabeth kissed her forehead. "Anytime", then she left. Lorelei thought Elizabeth was getting a little too comfortable with the whole mother daughter thing. She sat by the window. It was still raining. She loved then rain. It bought life. It made things live again. Be happy. She drank her cocoa. It tasted a bit sweet nut she drank it anyway. Then she thought about Krystal. She looked lonely. Had no friends besides her mom who works in the school library. Krystal was lucky to have her mom near her. Lorelei finished drinking her cocoa and looked out the windows for a while. She had homework but it was due next week so she didn't bother starting it. She took her mug to the kitchen. Lorelei looked at the time. 20:00. She looked for Mr Cohen. No sign of him. Lorelei carried on with her way to the kitchen. She saw Elizabeth there with takeaways. "Harold is not coming back home tonight so I thought of spoiling ourselves", she beamed. Lorelei forced a smile. "And Kyle?", Lorelei asked. Elizabeth shrugged. "Won't get out of his room. He's been isolating himself lately", said Elizabeth. This house had a lot of secrets. "So I got Chinese food. I didn't know if you'd love it", she said, unsure if she made the right choice by ordering Chinese. "It's fine", Lorelei reassured her. Elizabeth got out the plates and got everything ready. "Kyle!", Elizabeth called out. There was silence. "Kyle!", she repeated. "This boy will be the death of me", she said, running her hands through her hair. "I can take the food up to him", Lorelei offered. Elizabeth smiled weakly. "Thank you", she gave Lorelei a plate with sticky dumplings. "It's his favourite", Elizabeth said. Lorelei made her way up the stairs. She knocked on Kyle's door. He opened the door with so much force. He rolled hid eyes. "You're getting annoying", he said. "I'm just doing this for your mother, dingus", Lorelei shoved the plate in Kyle's hands. "Feisty aren't we", he sassed. She rolled her eyes. "Thanks or whatever", he said. "You're welcome or whatever", Lorelei joked. Kyle smirked then closed the door. She went to join Elizabeth downstairs.
Lorelei had another peaceful night of sleep. This time she set the alarm so Elizabeth didn't need to sneak up on her. She got out of bed and made it. Then she took a quick shower. Her uniform was washed and ironed. They smelt like lavender. She got dressed and went downstairs. "There you are", Elizabeth said. Lorelei waved at her. "Breakfast is on the table", she pointed towards the kitchen. "Going somewhere?", Lorelei asked. "Why yes. Can't tell you as of yet. It'll be a surprise", she smiled. He lips were the colour of blood. She tied her hair in a ballerina bun. She wore black high heels that matched her grey pantsuit. Lorelei grabbed two pancakes and waved at Elizabeth. She got in the car and it drove off.
Lorelei felt like a normal teenager. Going to school, complaining about homework and how the teachers are awful at their job. Lorelei was making her wah into the entrance then she wails of pain. She didn't want to get involved but curiosity got the best of her. She followed the noise to something that resembled a dark alleyway. Three girls were beating up another girl. Another one was standing, watching everything unravel with a smug on her face. "Stop", Smug girl ordered. Her minions did as they were told. I tried looking at the girl on the floor. She looked familiar with her grey hair. Lorelei's hand covered her mouth. The girl groaned, trying to stand up but it hurt. She couldn't raise an arm much less stand up. "That'll teach you", Smug girl snickers then walked away. Lorelei hid behind a dumpster. When they were out of sight, Lorelei ran to the girl. "Krystal, are you okay?", Lorelei asked. Krystal nodded. "What happened?", she asked. "Nothing", Krystal answered. "But-", "I'm fine, okay? Let's leave it at that", Krystal protested. Lorelei nodded. She couldn't believe it. She didn't think she could worry about someone else's wellbeing other than hers. "Can I at least take you to the infirmary?", Lorelei pleaded. Krystal nodded.
Krystal's POV
Krystal stayed in the infirmary almost the whole day. Meaning she missed out on all the school work and what was taught. She wished her parents didn't bring her here of all places. She was walking, minding her own business when she saw something she wasn't supposed to see. When she got caught, they chased her. Krystal couldn't run for too long because she had a breathing problem so she thought if she hid by the alleyway, the won't find her. She thought wrong. "What exactly did you see?", Stellar asked, squeezing Krystal's face with her hand. Her nails digging in her cheeks. "N-nothing", she shivered. "Ha! Girls, you hear that? She saw nothing. So you miraculously was standing there", she said sarcastically. Her friends started laughing. Tears started running down Krystal's cheeks. "Can I go? I-I'll be l-late for my f-first lesson", she pleaded. But the girls found that amusing. "No need. We'll teach you a lesson right now. Lesson number 1, don't ever lie to me", she slapped Krystal hard across the face, which made her yelp. "Second lesson, you don't tell anyone, or else. Girls, show her what we do best", she then backed away. The girls came closer, cracking their knuckles. "P-please. I won't tell anyone", she pleaded once more. Stellar snickered. "Of course you won't", she said. Then they started beating her up. She cried for help but no one could hear her. That went on for about what felt like 10 minutes. "Stop", Stellar ordered and they listened to her. She tried standing up but she felt as if she got some of her ribs broken. She cried in pain. She couldn't take it. Then she dropped to the ground again. "That'll teach you", Stellar snickered and sashayed away. A few seconds later, Lorelei came to her aid. She wanted to tell what she saw, what happened but she couldn't. So she blocked off all her answers. She looked worried. She thought of Lorelei as her new friend. So she agreed to going to the infirmary.
Lorelei's POV
Before Lorelei left the school, she stopped by the toilets. When she was in there, she saw a familiar face. It was smug girl. She was washing her hands. Lorelei's blood boiled when she saw her. How could she beat up an innocent girl like that and be happy with her life. Lorelei stepped closer to her. Smug girl looked at her with disgust. "Eww. Who are you?", she asked. "It's not important", she replied. "Oohh. You're that drop out. What's your name again? Lory? Lorraine?", she asked. "Lorelei", Lorelei corrected her. "Yeah, don't care", she started making her out of the bathroom but Lorelei stood in her way. "But you're about to", Lorelei said. As quick as lighting, Lorelei dislocated Smug girl's shoulder. She screamed in pain but Lorelei covered her mouth. "Sshh", she said. She took out the plastic wrap Elizabeth uses to wrap her sandwiches and tape. She wrapped the plastic wrap around her head then taped it she dragged Smug girl into one of the stalls. Smug girl was crying. Her face was starting to sweat. Lorelei added more tape. "That'll teach you", Lorelei said. "Don't ever mention this to anyone or else. And don't you ever touch Krystal again", she added. She closed the door and opened all the taps, so no one could hear her muffled screams. She took her bag and and closed the bathroom door. She took her hair pin and locked the door. She'd had practice when Malcom locked her out the house. But before Lorelei could leave, she stopped by to check on Krystal. Her mother was going to transfer her to a hospital. She thanked Lorelei for helping Krystal. Lorelei said that she just hopes Krystal is okay. When Lorelei left the school, she walked proudly, head help up high. What she did felt good. Incredible. She saw Charles was waiting for her. She got in the SUV. "Sorry to keep you waiting, Charles. I had to deal with something", she told him. "No problem ma'am", Charles replied. Then they drove away.
