August's POV

December 19th. Saturday. Nothing's fucking happened. I mean, it's not unexpected I guess, but I'd convinced myself something was going to happen. I really thought even if it wasn't a big thing, I'd have to fight. I'd have to do something. I want to do something. Because now I know tomorrow will be bigger. Tomorrow I'm going to fight with my whole fucking heart. I'm going to need to care about staying alive and fighting so I can be free. I will be free.

The world doesn't revolve around me, I know that. I know that there is a captain in Space fighting aliens who want to kill other aliens. I know there's a team up there too, fighting for peace intergalactically. I know that there were World Wars with average people going in, ready to die... and dying. And that there was somebody willing to be experimented on so the proclaimed good guys would win. And they did, and he thought he died, and then he didn't.

I know that little girls were tortured and forced to become identical weapons wielded by men who shouldn't have power. I know that one of them got out and gave herself a new name. And thought she destroyed that place, and didn't. And so she did it again, and she made sure that it was finally over. I know that there are neglected children who become something, abused either mentally or physically... or both. I know that I'm not the center of the universe EVEN IF I feel like everybody should see me right now. See what I'm fighting for. See something. I want that captain from Space to come back down and save me tomorrow.
