XXII.
Lalisa felt someone nudging on her shoulder as she opened her eyes, feeling the burning light of the sun lay across her pallid face.
"Huh?" Lisa breathed out, rubbing her eyes as she yawned and blinked to get the sleep out of her gaze.
"We're here," Jungkook smiled as Lisa turned her sleep-ridden eyes onto him.
She nodded, grabbing her purse and making sure everything was there. Once she was sure, she unstrapped her seatbelt and opened the door of the car, feeling the warm air tickle her senses as she breathed in the fresh atmosphere.
"Ready to go?" Jungkook wrapped his arms around Lisa's waist, a smile on his face. Lalisa decided not to ruin the mood and bit back a snarky comment, leaning into him slightly.
Both of them walked over to the front of the house, knocking on the door and awaiting the response from inside.
Truth be told, Lisa felt quite stupid when she saw the look of stupor on Bambam's face. He looked absolutely stumped, his eyes repeatedly glancing between Jungkook's arm around Lisa's waist and Jungkook's face.
"Uh..." Bambam blinked, "hi?"
Lalisa turned her head to glance at her partner, whose nervous face morphed into a smile, nodding at Bambam.
"Hello," Jungkook said cheerfully, and Lisa found it difficult to believe this was the same man she had dated for the past three years. "I'm sorry I've been unable to visit whenever Lisa has, I've been busy."
Bambam glanced at Lisa and mouthed in Thai, "He's still as handsome as I remember him to be," before clearing his throat and smiling.
"Jungkook-ssi, please come in, it's been some time," and with those words, Bambam ushered the two in, discreetly attempting to break apart their hold on each other.
Despite Bambam's annoying nature, Lalisa knew he sometimes grew overprotective of her, and she mentally thanked the gods as the two entered the home, knowing that if she told anything of what Jungkook did to her to him, Jungkook would probably be obliterated by now.
Once the two were inside the comforts of the warm home, Bambam clasped his hands together and cleared his throat again, something he did often when he was excited.
"Mina is going to love this," Bambam murmured, before sending the two a mischievous grin and scampered off to find his girlfriend.
It was silent for a couple of moments between them, before Jungkook playfully nudged Lisa with his elbow, startling the brunette out of her thoughts, unknowingly casting him a glare.
Jungkook's features softened into a smile of reminiscence. "I miss when you used to look at me like that."
Lalisa raised her eyebrow and opened her mouth to retort back, but Mina had rushed in, a gleaming look in her eyes.
"Jungkook, Lisa!" Mina clapped her hands with a smile that could break if widened anymore.
"Mina-ssi," Jungkook matched her energy and bowed for a quick moment — out of respect — before getting up.
The day quickly blurred by with the four eating lunch together, and then sitting at the living room to joke around. It wasn't long before Bambam reached for Lalisa, for their talk about his proposal to Mina under the disguise of family business.
Jungkook cast them a knowing look as the two walked out of them and discussed.
"No, Bambam, that's a stupid idea."
"C'mon, please — "
"It's as if you want Mina to reject you," Lisa replied with a straight face and remained to manage intact as she repressed giggles at the look on Bambam's face.
"Oh come off of it," her cousin rolled his eyes and waved off her statement with sass, and soon the two were done with their small advising session.
When they exited the room and went near the doorway of the living room, the pair of cousins overheard snippets of Mina and Jungkook's hushed conversation.
"You need to tell Lisa — "
"I can't, Mina, I can't. It would break whatever we have left."
A sigh was emitted from the female. "Jungkook, you know things like this never end well. You need to tell her, it's not fair to her to be kept out of the dark."
"I know but... I want to at least save whatever we have left before taking such a huge risk telling her."
Bambam sent a curious glance to Lisa, and she could feel her thoughts brimming at the top of her mind. She pushed them down her mind and smiled at Bambam, reassuringly whispering, "It's probably a small topic. C'mon, let's go."
Bambam nodded uncertainly, and soon Lisa and Jungkook were preparing to leave. Mina hugged Lisa and told her to visit them again, and to also bring along her partner that had been gone for some time. Lalisa agreed, and the two set off for home.
In the car, Lisa crossed her arms and turned her body away from Jungkook, frustrated tears beginning to rise up in her eyes. She furiously blinked them away, refusing to give away a state of weakness.
Jungkook must've noticed her cold presence and glares, because in the midst of driving, he quietly spoke, "Is something wrong?"
Lalisa ignored his question.
He wanted to salvage whatever they had left, huh? Well, if he loved her as much as he said he did, then surely he would have no problem with her being cold? After all, he should redeem himself rather than getting forgiveness handed to him.
She scoffed lightly to herself, shifting on her side.
Reason #22: He hides things from me that he's supposed to tell me.
