XVII.
Their "adventure," as Jungkook had persisted, had started at the ice cream parlor. The couple's next destination was a garden where Jungkook had been to many times during his childhood, which Lalisa had not heard much about. When confronted about his past, he didn't speak much on it.
"I used to go here with my late sister," Jungkook broke the comforting silence with a revelation he had hidden from her.
Lisa looked at him shocked, her eyes round as she processed the information she had never knew.
"You had a sister?"
Jungkook lightly chuckled. "Yeah. She was my younger sister by two years. We did almost everything together, along with Hyung, of course."
"What happened to her?"
"She passed away from cancer," Jungkook's voice lightly cracked. "She was only nine."
Lisa grimaced, her hand finding it's way to his.
"She's in a better place now. I'm sure she was a great person."
Jungkook smiled, blinking his tears away.
"You're right, Lili."
Soon, the pair had reached an area where they could watch the stars in the sky.
Jungkook took out a blanket, which he had found in the trunk of his car, and laid it down for the two of them to lie down and stargaze.
For a couple minutes, the two were quiet. Instead of moving due to the discomfort of her dress, Lisa just steadily watched the stars. But her favorite stars would always remain the ones that twinkled in Jungkook's eyes.
Lisa wondered what three years had done to their relationship. Maybe it was time to let go. Maybe he wasn't the right one.
But whenever she glanced over him, she felt that was difficult to believe.
Maybe he didn't only change. Maybe she changed as well. But she couldn't recall what she might've changed for him to suddenly dislike her.
Lalisa heaved a small sigh, barely audible, flattening her dress. Her next reason was annoyingly vague, but she couldn't figure out how else to word it.
Reason #17: We changed.
