XVI.

Lisa felt a bit out of place at the ice cream parlor with her fancy attire. She was seated, gazing around the shop while she waited for Jungkook to come back with their ice cream orders.

When he walked back, Lisa was handed her cup of chocolate chip cookie dough, which she gladly accepted with a small smile. Jungkook got simple chocolate ice cream, to which Lisa noted had absolutely nothing to do with this situation.

Nodding at him awkwardly to sit down in front of her so they could speak, Lisa didn't know why her behavior was like a teenager on her first date.

Jungkook sitting down and trying to eat his ice cream while avoiding her gaze made the clear tension between them even thicker.

Seeing some residue on his top lip made Lisa giggle and Jungkook glance at her with an amused expression.

"What?"

Lisa pointed to his lip. "You have some... uh, ice cream on your lip."

Jungkook tried looking down at his lip, which almost caused Lisa to face-palm at his stupidity.

Lisa grabbed a tissue and quickly wiped it off, sitting back and admiring his now clean face.

Jungkook gave her a cutely confused look. "Why are you staring at me like that?"

Lalisa immediately looked away, her eyes focused on her ice cream and her cheeks a slight shade of pink.

There was a small moment of awkward silence between them, before Jungkook spoke.

"So... you heard what my eomma said," he raised an eyebrow.

"Yes?" Lalisa replied, confused at what he was implying.

"What are your thoughts on it?"

"Your mom said a lot of things. I need you to specify."

Lisa almost burst out laughing at the twitch in his jaw and his face set in a slightly angry face.

"Kidding, kidding. My thoughts on it? I don't really care."

Lisa was lying; she did have an opinion but was too afraid of expressing it, in fear of receiving disapproval from her partner.

Lalisa eyed him amidst tapping her hand against her thigh in anxiety as he watched her, both of them just looking at each other with narrowed eyes and suspicious gazes.

"You sure?"

Jungkook sure knew how to read her, but she didn't speak a word against it as she nodded.

Jungkook's face finally morphed into a smiling expression.

"You idiot, I can see through your lies. Just tell me your honest thoughts."

Lalisa felt attacked, but she swiftly responded with, "I would like to have children, but not now."

Jungkook grinned. "Seems like we're on the same boat."

Don't you want to have children with Sana? Lalisa wondered. Aren't you falling out of love with me? Stop bringing my hopes up and crushing them, you dork.

"Hm?"

"Huh?" Lalisa was startled out of her reverie, her view averting to Jungkook with a raised eyebrow.

"You said something...?"

"Did I...?"

Jungkook heaved a sigh, bending over to whisper. "You said something about Sana."

Oh shoot, I spoke out loud.

Lalisa cringed at her idiocy and slowly spoke to him as if he was a baby to bare with her embarrassment, Jungkook nodding along to each individual word.

"Well... I just... uhm, you know? I was just, you know... I was... I- well, actually... I'm very—"

"You apparently don't know how to speak properly," Jungkook grumbled, leaning over the table in a wasted effort to hear her words more clearly.

Lalisa playfully rolled her eyes.

"I didn't say anything. Let's go home?"

Jungkook's eyes shined. Closer the proximity, the more you could see the individual stars in his eyes that shined brighter and prettier than anything in the world.

"Let's go out!"

"Koo, it's literally 7 PM... we should get home."

"Please?" Jungkook pouted.

Lalisa grumbled but she couldn't refuse. She already knew the next reason on her Reasons to Let Go list, due to annoyance.

Reason #16: He will never take no for an answer.
