IV.
Lisa was sitting on a bench at a park near her home shared with Jungkook, on a phone call with her beloved parents.
"Yes, Mom, I have ate," Lisa chuckled, but her insides churned when she said that, as she had been so busy with her studies that she had been barely able to eat as much. Of course she wanted to eat, but she wanted to talk to her parents first.
"How are you, sweetheart? Has Jungkook been treating you well? It's been some time since I've heard from that boy."
Lalisa's smile dropped at the mention of her boyfriend.
"Yes, Mom, he's doing just fine! He's a little busy, otherwise I would've let him talk to you guys. And yes, he's been treating me well. He always makes sure I eat, I take care of myself, and that I study but I don't overwork. I don't know what I would do without him."
Tears sprung out of her eyes, but Lisa kept her voice steady as she talked about the Jungkook she fell in love with.
Lying to her mother was hard, but she didn't want her family to worry about her. They had enough on their plate with her stepfather.
"How's Daddy?"
"He's getting better, slowly but surely. The doctor says that he has a good chance of survival."
Lisa sighed out a breathe of relief, adjusting the phone as she bid her mother goodbye.
"Mom, I have to go now. It's getting late here and I'm not home. I'll talk to you later?"
"Okay, Lalisa. Goodnight, I love you."
"I love you too, Mom."
With that, Lisa cut the call and brought her coat closer to her as she snuggled in it.
The sun had already sunk behind the hills, which left a dark blue hue in the sky.
Lisa was scared, but she walked home as quickly as she could. As she was, however, she noticed a couple of masculine shadows behind her.
She noticed a man in front of her who had his eyes glued to his screen, and Lisa, obviously scared, ran up to him and grabbed him by the arm, acting like they were dating, just in case those men caught up to her.
To her surprise, it was Jungkook.
When she clutched onto his arm, he was surprised, but when he saw it was Lisa, he looked plain confused.
"Lili...? What are you doing here?"
"Jungkook, uh, what a surprise?" She gave him a estranged look, as if she didn't know what to say, and Jungkook motioned for her to continue, sensing that Lisa had more to say.
"Those men were following me and I guess I got scared. I don't know if they're good or not, but just in case, I thought I would go near a man so they know I'm not alone, you know? Like those serial killer documentar—"
Before she could proceed with her rambling, Jungkook raised an eyebrow. "Any man?"
"Yeah, of course any man. I mean, I don't want to die currently. Why?"
There was something dark in Jungkook's eyes that Lisa couldn't pinpoint.
"You have a boyfriend, you know. You're lucky I was here. What if you had to act all couple-y with another man?"
"Well, I would do it. Because my safety comes first."
Jungkook rolled his eyes but didn't say anything, knowing that Lisa was right. Usually, he would lash out, but he didn't have an argument against safety.
"Alright, I'm glad that you're safe," Jungkook spoke, holding her close using his arm.
Lali didn't like it when Jungkook was angry, as he usually lashed out on her, so she quietly treasured the moment where they walked together to their house.
When they got to their home and went inside, Lisa wrote yet another reason in her Reasons to Let Go list.
Reason #4: He gets angry too easily and lashes out on me.
