So this is a poem based off of an AU I have planned. A little different, I know, considering I haven't written a proper poem in forever, but I hope you can see where I'm getting at

He was life

I was death

He could smile

I could not

He was so happy

I was so sad

He was so free

I was so trapped

In a life in which

death is right

His world is a world

always in my sight

A world for love

A world for hate

A world he and I

can never escape

A world where life

can never love death

A world where death

can never love life

But I came to him

And he came to me

And after all the struggle

He and I became 'we'

As the days passed

it felt so right

For death to finally

reach out to the light

Until life begged

with a lighthearted plea

"My time is ending

you must kill me, please"

I was so torn

So very confused

There was a moment

I didn't know what I should do

I couldn't touch him

I didn't dare

One touch; he'd be gone

Like he was never there

Until he took my hand

and gripped it tight

Trapped in an embrace

to end his life

And as I clutched him against me

I couldn't not weep

for the life I had loved
