4am

The Scarborough's are fast asleep and have been since around 9:30pm the previous night.

Last night, Joe, Mika, Elijah, Madi Jo and Griffin did their usual picking out a movie and eating Mini Melts before bedtime. Last night's movie was 'Beauty And The Beast' which Elijah and Madi Jo were scared at the beast at first but then loved the movie at the end.

Also last night, Daylight Saving Time ended meaning the clocks went back an hour, giving everyone an extra hour to sleep. Most people enjoy the extra hour of sleep but no one likes it getting dark right around 5pm everyday.

It is now 4am, which means it is still pitched dark outside. The sun doesn't rise until almost 7am.

Mika and Joe are snuggling in bed with Mika's head snuggled into Joe's chest with Joe's arms wrapped around her. Mika always feels safest in Joe's arms so he loves to do it for her when they are in bed asleep, making sure she gets a decent amount of sleep. 

Griffin is in his crib which is near Mika's side of the bed. With the other two kids, they slept in their cribs in their nurseries by the time they were a few months old. But since Griffin is the baby of the family, he has been staying in Joe and Mika's bedroom longer.

Right now, Madi Jo and Elijah are both out of their bedrooms and are in the hallway, talking to each other and also really confused as to why it is still dark outside.

*Elijah, Madi Jo and Griffin's pajamas*

"Wijah! Wet's go!" Madi Jo squeals, hugging Elijah happily.

"Okay! Wet's find Mama and Daddy! They are in their room sweeping!" Elijah says, dancing around and wide awake with Madi Jo dances too.

"It down there!" Madi Jo says, jumping up and down with a cheeky grin.

"Yeah! Let's goooooo!" Elijah says with lots of excitement.

Madi Jo and Elijah both run down the hallway, giggling at each other down to their parent's bedroom and they both push the bedroom door open.

Mika and Joe always kept their bedroom easily accessible just in case Madi Jo and Elijah needed them during the night or if the pets wanted to go in and out of the bedroom through out the night.

Griffin is now standing up in his crib, trying to get Joe or Mika's attention but has been unsuccessful thus far since the couple is still very much fast asleep.

Elijah and Madi Jo both climb onto the king size bed and begin to wake up Joe and Mika by patting their heads.

Joe groans in annoyance loudly while Mika sighs, realizing the time change happened last night and that's why the kids are up earlier than usual.

"Mama! Daddy! It's time to get up! It's time to get up!" Elijah says with glee, smiling at his parents.

"No, it is too early to get up. It is the weekend so that means Daddy and Mama don't work on the show." Mika says as she covers hers eyes with her arm.

Joe manages to open one of his eyes to look at his Apple Watch and sees the time, 4:06am.

"It is 4am, you two. And if you look out the window, the sun isn't out so that means it is still sleeping. Which also means we all should still be sleeping. It is Sunday as well. Like Mama just said, Daddy and Mama don't work on the show on Saturdays and Sundays, so we sleep in a little later then through out the week." Joe tries to explain to Elijah and Madi Jo but the duo are too little to understand days of the week just yet.

"Well, when you and Mama wake up or work on the show the sun isn't out either, Daddy!" Elijah says with some sass, sounding just like Joe.

"That is very right, Elijah. The sun isn't usually up when we get up for the show and sometime when we are on the show." Mika says proudly that Elijah has realized that fact at just four years old.

"Up up, Daddy! Up up, Mama!" Madi Jo says as she giggles and claps her hands.

"Aaaaaa! Ma ma! Da da! Baaaaaa!" Griffin squeals from his crib, jumping up and down.

"Grif is up too, baby." Joe says as he giggles out of tiredness and Mika sighs once again now knowing all three of their kids are up way too early for the weekend.

Mika then quickly gets out of the bed to pick up Griffin because she is afraid he'll jump too high or somehow climb out of the crib but he is only nine months old.

Mika then somehow manages to change Griffin's diaper in the dark so the bright lights don't hurt any of their eyes.

"Oh! Well my bwrain said it was time to get up so I did!" Elijah explains to Joe and Mika.

"Me too!" Madi Jo says, just copying her big brother.

"That is because Daylight Savings Time is over and the clocks moved back one hour. We all can get one extra hour of sleep but because of that the sunrise is later in the day and the sunset is earlier in the day." Joe says causing the duo to be confused and that makes Mika laugh.

"Joe, they are four and one, they don't understand those kinds of things." Mika says as she laughs again.

"Ba ba ba ba ba!" Griffin babbles to Joe and Mika.

"See, Griffin understands, Meek." Joe says as he pats Griffin's head, causing the baby to giggle.

"I doubt it." Mika says doing a sassy smirk at Joe and he blows her a kiss.

Elijah and Madi Jo begin to jump up and down, jumping and squealing happily. 

"No no no no. We don't jump on the bed. Especially not at 4am. Sit down, please." Joe says sternly to Elijah and Madi Jo before he yawns.

Elijah and Madi Jo stop jumping and sit down, pouting since Joe told them to stop.

"Well then. Let's watch something on TV then since you three are wide awake now." Joe says to Elijah and Madi Jo, causing them to cheer

"YAY!" Elijah and Madi Jo scream with Mika quickly stopping it.

"Inside voices." Mika says softly to the kids.

"Yay!" Elijah and Madi Jo say somewhat in a whisper causing Joe to laugh since it was like a whisper scream.

"Aaaaaaa!" Griffin squeals loudly.

"Inside voiceeeeeeeee Griffinnnnnn." Elijah says with sass, sounding like Mika now.

"Is Wachel! Is Wachel!" Madi Jo says, wanting to watch Ms. Rachel, her favorite thing right now.

"You wanna watch Ms. Rachel, baby girl?" Joe asks Madi Jo and she happily nods.

"Ya!" Madi Jo cheers with a big grin.

"What about you, Elijah? Do you wanna watch Ms. Rachel?" Joe asks Elijah as he yawns as he pulls up YouTube Kids.

"Yesssss! I wuv Ms. Rachel!" Elijah says as he claps his hands.

"Ms. Rachel it is. Find something that is gonna make them s-l-e-e-p Joe." Mika says to Joe, spelling out the word sleep so the kids don't say anything about it.

"Will do!" Joe says, winking at Mika causing Mika to smirk.

After an episode and a half of Ms. Rachel, Elijah and Madi Jo fell back asleep but in bed with Joe and Mika and Griffin fell asleep on Mika's chest.

"I guess we can't move them, huh?" Mika asks Joe in a soft whisper.

"I don't think so, Meek. It's 5:45 so maybe we can sleep until 7:45?" Joe says playfully, causing Mika to giggle.

"We could try." Mika says with a grin before she and Joe kiss a few times.

Joe fell asleep pretty quickly after the kids while Madi Jo cuddles next to him. Meanwhile, Elijah is spread out like a starfish between Joe, Madi Jo, Mika and Griffin and is slightly snoring.

Then Mika managed to fall asleep with Griffin lying next to her now instead of on top of her chest. Griffin's head is lying on her chest and his little arm wrapped around her.

Mika, Joe, Elijah, Madi Jo and Griffin all wake up once again at 8am and begin their Sunday!

For the rest of the day, Mika, Joe, Elijah, Madi Jo and Griffin all spend time together as a family! :)

mikabrzezinski One tired mom and dad this morning! Our little trio decided to wake us up at 4am on a Sunday (a day we usually sleep in until 6:30-8am, 8 if we are really really lucky!!) Gotta love the time change! ☀️😅

joescarborough Every parent in America understands our struggle! We have been up since 4am on a Sunday which is usually our day to sleep in until 6-7am. But these three happy kids had other plans. Thankfully after an episode of Ms. Rachel we got them back to sleep until 7.
