Late November 2015

It has been a regular but busy Friday for Joe and Mika!

Joe and Mika both filmed today's episode of Morning Joe, with Willie, watched many 2016 election coverage reports and worked on some other work projects before heading home for the weekend.

At home on New Canaan, Connecticut, Joe kissed his two younger kids Kate and Jack goodbye because they are going on a weekend trip with their mom Susan.

Meanwhile, in Bronxville, New York, Mika had lunch with her three best friends Tia, Jennifer and Laura who were in town for the holiday.

Mika also really needed some advice about her first date with Joe. It has been over twenty years since Mika has been on a first date and she is pretty rusty about the dating world.

But Tia, Jennifer and Laura all knew Mika had strong romantic feelings for Joe and are all happy that she finally told him.

As for Joe, he hasn't dated since 1999 when he met Susan after his divorce from Joey and Andrew's mother, Melanie.

Right now, Mika is sitting on her vanity that she has in her bathroom, getting ready for her first ever date with Joe. Mika has been excited about this date ever since she woke up this morning.

Emilie is home from college while Carlie is a senior in high school. They are usually home with Mika but this weekend, they decided to be with their dad, Jim. Both of the girls are still struggling with Mika and Jim's divorce and Mika misses them when they aren't home with her.

Mika is finishing up putting her makeup on and her iPhone dings loudly, meaning she has a new text message.

Mika quickly grabs her iPhone to check the text to see who it is, thinking it is Carlie or Emilie. However, the text is from Joe.

Joe: "I'm about fifteen minutes away from your house, I'm getting gas right now. I can't wait to see you ❤️"

Mika blushes and smiles as she reads the text message from Joe, closing her eyes, daydreaming about their possible future together.

Even a simple text message from him makes her day and everything he does is perfect. Mika hasn't felt this happy and special in a long time from a partner. She is falling in love with Joe more every single day.

Mika quickly stops daydreaming about Joe and quickly texts him back, before finishing up her makeup and finishes getting ready.

Mika: "Okay! Take your time! I am just finishing up getting ready. And I can't wait to see you too ☺️"

After Mika texts Joe, she does the finishing touches with her date outfit and makeup before going downstairs.

Mika's dog Cajun happily greets her at the steps, causing Mika to smile ear to ear.

"Hi, Cajun! Let me make you some food! Are you hungry?" Mika says and Cajun happily barks.

Mika makes Cajun's dinner while Cajun watches on, wagging his tail.

"Here you go, bud. Enjoy!" Mika says putting Cajun's food bowl on the floor and he begins to eat.

Mika texts the group chat with her best friends talking about how excited for her date she is and all of her friends find Mika to be very adorable.

Ten minutes later, Joe honks the horn of his car telling Mika he is here.

"Be a good boy, Cajun. I'll see you later, buddy." Mika says as she pets Cajun's head before she leaves her house for the date.

Mika locks up her front door before walking to her driveway, where Joe is standing right by his car holding a bouquet of flowers.

Mika giggles and blushes as her face lights up with a humungous smile.

"Hey, beautiful. These flowers are for you." Joe says, handing the bouquet of flowers to Mika.

"Hey! And aww, Joe! Thank you! I love them!" Mika says as she smells the flowers.

"You are very welcome." Joe says as he smiles at Mika.

"They smell really fresh too! Thank you so much." Mika says as she tightly hugs Joe and Joe tightly hugs her back.

"And you look really nice tonight. Very handsome." Mika says as she rubs Joe's chest, causing Joe to slightly blush.

"So do you, Mika. You look absolutely stunning." Joe says as Mika giggles again.

Joe absolutely loves to hear Mika's laugh, especially her little giggle she has.

"You are so sweet, Joe. Thank you." Mika says as she smiles at Joe before smelling her bouquet of flowers again.

Joe and Mika then look up into each other's eyes and they begin to softly kiss each other.

Mika has her arm wrapped around Joe's neck while Joe has his arm around Mika's back.

After a few kisses, Mika and Joe smile up at each other.

"Are you ready to go? It's pretty chilly out here. I got the car nice and warm for us." Joe asks Mika softly.

"Yes, I am ready! Let's go!" Mika says with a big smile at Joe as he opens the passenger door for her.

"Thank you, Joe." Mika says happily as she gets into Joe's toasty warm car.

Joe then gets into the drivers seat and he and Mika put their seatbelts on.

"Can I put my flowers back here so I don't step on them? I don't want to mess them up." Mika asks Joe.

"Sure, go ahead! Just ignore the junk in the back, it's from the kids." Joe says with a chuckle.

"Joe, you don't have to have a perfect car. It's called having kids. It is totally fine." Mika says as she places her bouquet of flowers in the back while Joe puts the restaurant's address on his iPhone.

"Ready?" Joe asks Mika softly with a smile and Mika blushes at him.

"I'm ready!" Mika says with a cheeky smile as she continues to blush.

Joe begins to drive the twenty five minute drive to one of Mika's favorite restaurants for their first date.

Joe and Mika talk about different things during the drive, including some work talk even though they didn't want to talk about work but that's what happens when you work together.

Joe looks at Mika's hands, that are sitting in her lap and blushes a little as he looks at the road again.

"Hey Mika?" Joe says, while he continues to drive.

"Hmm?" Mika asks Joe softly as she watches him drive and finds him looking very hot this evening.

"Can I ask you something?" Joe asks Mika softly, sounding really nervous.

"Sure! You know you can ask me anything, Joe. What's up?" Mika says with a smile at Joe, calming Joe's nerves a little.

"Can I hold your hand?" Joe asks Mika softly and in a slightly nervous tone, causing Mika to smile and blush at him.

"Of course! You don't have to ask." Mika says with a cheeky grin as she holds Joe's hand.

Joe and Mika hold each other's hands and place them on Mika's knee as Joe continues to drive with one hand.

"I didn't want to make you uncomfortable or anything." Joe says to Mika softly.

"You aren't making me uncomfortable. I would tell you if I was and you know that. You are making me so happy, Joe. The happiest I've been in years." Mika says with a cheeky grin.

"And you are making me the happiest I've been in years too." Joe says as he kisses Mika's hand, causing Mika to blush.

"So, where are Jack and Kate going with their Mom?" Mika asks Joe as she rubs his thumb.

"To visit Susan's family in Florida. They haven't seen them in a while. This was a last minute trip but it was fine with me since I've taken them on a few trips this year. Susan needed a trip with them." Joe explains to Mika.

"Aw, that sounds fun. I'm glad you and Susan have a better relationship now. I know it was rough for a while there." Mika says and Joe nods.

"Yeah, it is a lot better thank goodness. We just want Kate and Jack to be happy and they are. That's all that matters to both of us. And it's better because of everything you told me to do." Joe says to Mika.

"Aw, stop it." Mika says as she blushes again, even though what Joe said was true.

Mika helped Joe a lot during his split and divorce with Susan. No divorce is easy, but Joe's divorce with Susan was harder than his divorce with Andrew and Joey's mom Melanie.

Joe and Susan couldn't really talk without arguing with each other. However, Mika helped Joe on how to act without getting angry and how to be civil with Susan. Now, almost three years on, Joe and Susan are good friends and great co-parents to Jack and Kate.

"It's true, though. You have taught me a lot on how to act better and I thank you for that." Joe says to Mika as he smiles at her during the red light.

"You're welcome! You know I'm here for you and here to help. We are great friends." Mika says with a small grin.

"Same to your, beautiful. Where are your girls at tonight? I noticed your car was the only one in the driveway." Joe says to Mika as he drives once the light goes green.

"My girls are with their dad this weekend." Mika says with a slight frown.

"How are they doing with everything?" Joe asks Mika softly, kissing her hand again.

"They are doing okay. They both seem really mad at me still. I don't know why they are mad at me, Jim and I both wanted the divorce after talking it over for months and months. The girls don't know about us yet and I'm afraid they will think we had an affair or something, which clearly isn't true." Mika says to Joe with a sigh.

"Kate and Jack felt mad with me for a little bit too. They were mad that Susan and I argued and couldn't be adults and they were mad that we all couldn't live in the same house. That's why we lived in the same house after we divorced for a while. I think it is a common thing. Joey and Andrew were more sad than mad though." Joe says to Mika.

"Emilie and Carlie are both emotions right now. It has been really hard. I just hope it gets better." Mika says with a sigh again.

"I'm sorry, I wish I can fix it for you. But it will get better with time, I promise." Joe says to Mika and Mika nods, holding Joe's hand tighter.

Once at the restaurant, Joe helps Mika out of the car and smiles at her.

"You ready to go in?" Joe says to Mika and Mika blushes and smiles.

"I'm ready!" Mika says as she blushes and smiles up at Joe.

Joe wraps his arm around Mika's waist as they walk into the restaurant together.

Joe and Mika are seated in the back of the restaurant and have candles on the table.

"This is really romantic and cute, Joe. I love it." Mika says happily to Joe and Joe smiles back at Mika.

"Everything for you." Joe says, causing Mika to blush.

"Oh stop it!" Mika says as she and Joe both giggle.

"Have you been here before?" Mika asks Joe as the waitress brings over their drinks they ordered a few minutes prior.

"No, I haven't but the menu online made all of the food look really good and plus you said it was good. I'm trusting in you for it to be good." Joe says playfully and Mika smiles.

"This is one of my favorite places and everything is really good here." Mika says as she sips on her wine while Joe enjoys his sweet tea.

"Wow, they actually make the sweet tea just like they do in the south." Joe says happily.

"I knew you would like the sweet tea." Mika says as she holds Joe's hand.

"You look absolutely beautiful tonight, Mika." Joe says, admiring Mika causing her to smile.

"Thank you! I just got this dress the other day. And I see you found a new sweater to wear besides the one you wear at work all of the time." Mika says as she and Joe both giggle at each other.

"Kate and Jack helped me pick it out. I told them I was seeing someone beautiful and very special and that I needed to look nice." Joe says as Mika awes.

"Well, they did a great job." Mika says as she rubs Joe's hand.

Mika and Joe continue to talk about many things while they eat their dinners and desserts.

After two hours at the restaurant, Joe and Mika leave to head back home after an amazing dinner and dessert.

Joe begins the drive back to Mika's house, holding Mika's hand while they talk.

"Joe, I would have paid for my meal and my drinks! That was a lot of money for you to pay." Mika says to Joe, causing him to giggle.

"No no, Mika. I told you I was paying tonight. It's my treat. Let me spoil you some." Joe says with a smirk, causing Mika to blush.

"I just feel bad. I don't want you spending all of your money on me." Mika says softly to Joe.

"Don't feel bad. You shouldn't feel bad at all. I got it, don't worry. Let me spoil you like you deserve to be spoiled, Mika." Joe says as he kisses Mika's cheek while they sit at the red light.

"I love being spoiled. And I'll definitely spoil you too." Mika says as she smirks at Joe and Joe smirks back.

"Oooo, I like that." Joe says with a chuckle and Mika blushes.

"Everyone at work is going to be really shocked when they find out about us." Mika says as she laughs.

"Mika, I'm sure they all know. Everyone says we have a lot chemistry on set. Now we have a lot of chemistry off set too." Joe says as Mika giggles loudly.

"Oh gosh, Joe! And have you talked to Willie about us?" Mika asks curiously since Willie and Joe talk a lot outside work about sports and other things.

"I told him I was taking you out tonight but I didn't tell him it was a date." Joe says to Mika.

"Joe, he is going to think it's a date!" Mika says as she laughs loudly.

"Why?" Joe asks Mika playfully, giggling at her.

"Because! You don't just take me out places like this!" Mika says playfully to Joe and Joe laughs loudly.

"What do you mean? We have been to a lot of places as just friends before!" Joe says with a little sass causing Mika to laugh loudly.

"Joe! Willie wasn't born under a rock, he probably already figured it out!" Mika says with some playful sass.

"Well, do you want to tell him Monday?" Joe asks Mika playfully as he and Mika both giggle.

"No, let's see how long it takes for him to ask us." Mika says as she and Joe both smile at each other.

Joe then pulls into Mika's driveway and parks the car, looking over at her and smiling big.

Mika then smiles at Joe, blushing and giggling.

"I had a really amazing night with you, Joe." Mika says with a cheeky grin before she tenderly kisses Joe's cheek.

"I did too, beautiful. I had an incredible night with you." Joe says happily as he kisses Mika's cheek back and Mika giggles.

"Please be careful driving back home, okay? And will you call me when you get back home?" Mika asks Joe, rubbing his chest.

"I will be careful and I will call you as soon as I get in my house. I promise." Joe says softly as he smiles at Mika.

"Okay, good. I'll see you Monday at work." Mika says as she grabs her flowers from the back seat and Joe smiles at her.

"I'll see you then, beautiful. Oh, can I ask you something before you go in?" Joe asks Mika and Mika smiles.

"Sure! What's up?" Mika asks Joe with a big grin.

"Mika Emilie Leonia Brzezinski, will you be my girlfriend?" Joe asks Mika softly as Mika giggles and blushes at Joe.

"I thought I already was, silly!" Mika says as she and Joe both laugh and smile at each other.

"I wanted to ask and verify that we are actually dating. I didn't want to think we were dating and we weren't." Joe says as Mika giggles and smiles.

"You are so cute. And of course I'll be your girlfriend, Joe." Mika says as she kisses Joe twice.

Joe smiles at Mika and kisses her one more time before she gets out of the car and walks over to her house.

"See you Monday!" Joe says with a cheeky grin at Mika.

"See you then!" Mika says with a big cheeky grin.

Joe makes sure she gets in her house just fine before leaving to head back home.

Joe and Mika had a fantastic first date and can't wait for many more. :)
