*Baby Elijah has his first ever cold. Joe and Mika do their best to make him feel better and happy again. Thank you so much to joebidenloving for helping me write this! Enjoy 💙

January 12th, 2021

Joe just finished filming Morning Joe around a half an hour ago and he has been mostly cleaning the house since there is a sick baby in the house.

Joe then feeds the cats their breakfast and he them empties the dishwasher that Mika loaded last night right before bed.

Mika and Elijah are both fast asleep on the couch, taking a nap since they have been up since 3am. Elijah is laying on Mika's chest while Mika is laying on her back.

Mika brought Elijah downstairs around 5am so Joe could film Morning Joe without a fussy and crying baby in the background.

Joe quietly walks into the living room to check on his two favorite people and cover them up with a blanket.

Just before Joe grabs his blanket to cover Mika and Elijah up, Elijah wakes up in Mika's arms, looking up at Joe with a happy but sleepy look on his face.

"Hi, buddy! Hi! Did you take a nice nap with Mama? You look better! You are still a little stuffy but that's okay." Joe says in a whisper as he carefully picks up Elijah from Mika's grip so Mika can finish her nap.

Elijah sniffles as he breathes, clearly still stuffy but he can breathe better then he did last night.

"Hi, big boy. Hiiii!" Joe says in a babyfied voice at Elijah.

Elijah then sneezes a few times, causing Joe to giggle at Elijah since baby sneezes are very funny to watch.

"Oh my goodness! Bless you! Bless you!" Joe says in a babyfied voice, grabbing a tissue out of the tissue box and he wipes Elijah's nose with it, causing Elijah to giggle.

"You need to learn how to sneeze safely just like Dr. Fauci tells us to do on TV. We are in a pandemic you know." Joe says, demonstrating how to sneeze in his arm to Elijah even though the almost five month old doesn't understand or care.

Joe continues to hold Elijah in his arms and Elijah tries to play with Joe's glasses.

"No, bud. I need these to see what's going on." Joe says as Elijah happily babbles at him.

Joe and Elijah then walk over to the front window to look at the birds that are in the bird house that Mika painted a few weeks ago.

A few seconds later, Mika wakes up from her nap, noticing that Elijah isn't laying on her chest anymore.

Mika slightly panics and thinks Elijah fell off of her and onto the hardwood floor but then she hears Joe talking to Elijah and Elijah babbling back to him, relieving her fears instantly.

"Look, Eli! Look at the Blue Jay bird that is at our bird house! Wow!" Joe says in a babyfied voice as Elijah babbles happily at Joe.

"Joe?" Mika says softly, looking for her husband and her baby boy.

Joe and Elijah both smile at each other and they walk over to Mika, who is now sitting up on the couch.

"Hi, beautiful. How was your nap?" Joe says with a grin at Mika and Mika smiles up at her boys.

"It was really nice even though it's going to mess up my sleep schedule tonight. Also, did you sneeze Joe or was I just dreaming that?" Mika says as Joe giggles.

"No, it was Eli. He is getting some of that snot out. I think the humidifier and the saline is helping." Joe says and Mika nods.

"He looks better too. Hi, bubby! Hi! Did you take a good nap too? We both fell asleep, huh?" Mika says in a babyfied voice at Elijah and Elijah babbles some at Mika.

"Are you hungry, bud? You haven't eaten yet today." Joe says as Elijah rubs his eyes and yawns.

"Sleepy head! As soon as we came down here he instantly fell asleep and I fell asleep around 6:30." Mika says to Joe as Joe smiles and softly kisses Elijah's cheek.

Mika to smile ear to ear at her boys happily bonding together.

"You didn't have to come down here, honey. I can't hear anything in our filming studio anyway." Joe says to Mika as he rocks Elijah in his arms.

"I know, I know, but I figured a change a scenery might help Elijah and it did help him go to sleep some. And I'm really sorry I fell asleep during the show. I was going to watch it." Mika says to Joe and Joe smiles.

"Meek, it's fine. You were up most of the night with Elijah and needed some much deserved rest. I did the show with Willie and it was great. By the way, Willie says hello and he hopes Elijah feels better soon." Joe says as he smiles at Mika.

"You are so kind, honey. And I'll have to text Willie thank you." Mika says, smiling back at Joe.

"I'm not kind, baby. I just really love you. You are the love of my life you know." Joe says to Mika as Mika smiles and blushes.

"I love you too." Mika says, puckering her lips and really wanting a kiss from Joe.

Joe smirks at Mika before kissing her twice and then Mika kisses Elijah's cheek.

"My sweet boy. I'm sorry you got a cold, baby. I'm so sorry." Mika says in a babyfied voice at Elijah as Elijah coughs a little.

Joe gently pats Elijah's back to help him cough some of the phlegm out of his chest.

"Good boy, bud. I know coughing hurts but that's good to get the nasty stuff out. Yeah." Joe says to Elijah as he suctions some of the phlegm out of Elijah's mouth, which is hates.

Joe sits down on the couch next to Mika so she can comfort Elijah as well.

"You are such a good boy, bubby. Yes, you are." Mika says to Elijah and Elijah looks over at her.

Joe kisses Elijah's cheek again and continues to rub Elijah's back while Elijah plays with Joe's shirt before babbling some.

"Is Daddy's shirt a fun toy? It is, isn't it?" Mika says as she giggles at Elijah and Elijah smiles at Mika, playing with the zipper on Joe's shirt.

Elijah babbles some, causing Mika and Joe to both smile at each other and at him.

"You sound happier, bud. Yeah!" Joe says to Elijah in a babyfied voice.

"Remind me later that I have to call Rocelis to tell her that we can't come over. We can't go around Bamba with Elijah sick." Mika says as she plays with Elijah's hair.

"It's just a cold, honey. He got tested for Covid yesterday and he is completely negative." Joe says as Elijah sits on his lap.

"I know, I know, but you know how easily Bamba can get sick and babies don't know how to keep germs to themselves. Is that right, bubby? You don't know how!" Mika says to Joe and then to Elijah in a babyfied voice.

"You are right, honey. We can't have Bamba getting sick. Your idea sounds like a good one. Always a good idea." Joe says and kisses Mika on the forehead.

Mika begins to smell a familiar smell as she picks up Elijah and smells his bottom. Elijah went number two in his diaper.

"Somebody is stinky! Pee yew! Pee yew!" Mika says playfully and Elijah giggles at his Mama.

"I'll take Elijah to change his diaper and give him a bath. Maybe that will help him feel even better." Joe says and smiles at Mika.

"Thank you, honey. And that sounds good. A nice bath would help clear him up." Mika says and kisses Elijah before Joe takes him to the upstairs bathroom to change his diaper and to give him a nice and warm bath.

The steam from the warm water from the bath will help Elijah open up his airway and help him get more snot and phlegm out.

Mika happily walks upstairs to the bathroom where Joe and Elijah are and she hears Elijah splashing around as he plays in the bathtub.

"Rubber duckie you're the one! You make bath time lots of fun! Rubber duckie I'm awfully fond of you!" Joe sings to Elijah and Elijah giggles loudly.

I'm so lucky, Mika thinks to herself as she listens to Joe and Elijah together some more before going to the master bedroom.

After bath time, Joe and Elijah walk into the master bedroom, where Mika is laying on the bed. Mika looks up and smiles at Joe and Elijah.

"Look who we have! A happy and clean baby boy! He got a nice and warm bath! I think he feels a little better too!" Joe says as Elijah babbles in his little robe that is a monkey!

Mika smiles as she puts her arms up, wanting to hold Elijah.

"Hi, bubby! Hi! Do you like your monkey robe? Yes, you do!" Mika says in babyfied voiced to Elijah.

"He really liked his new rubber ducky toy too!" Joe says and he lays Elijah down next to Mika on the bed.

"Aw, just like your big sisters did! So so sweet!" Mika says as she kisses Elijah's cheeks and he giggles.

Joe sits down next to Mika and Elijah on the bed enjoying this family time.

"You are such a cutie pie, yes you are!" Mika says as she kisses Elijah's cheeks some more and Elijah smiles up at his Mama.

"Ba ba ba." Elijah says as he plays with Mika's hair.

"No no no. Don't pull on Mama's hair." Joe says as he and Mika both laugh.

"Do you think he is hungry, Joe? He hasn't eaten much today." Mika asks Joe softly.

"I can try to give him a bottle if you like. Or do you want to feed him?" Joe says and caresses Mika's cheek causing her to smile.

"You can feed him if you like, honey. I have to get up and try to start my day." Mika says and sits up to kiss Joe.

Joe smiles as he kisses Mika again before he picks up Elijah to take him to his nursery to get him dressed!

Joe lays Elijah down on the changing table and he puts a fresh diaper on him and puts on a new pair of pajamas on!

"Let's go show Mama your new pajamas! These are nice and soft!" Joe says as Elijah babbles.

*Elijah's pajamas*

"Do you like these pajamas, Meek?" Joe asks Mika as he holds a much happier Elijah in his arms.

"Aww! Those are so cute! Let me take a picture for Emilie! She bought this onesie for Elijah." Mika says grabbing her iPhone to take a picture.

Mika has probably taken ten thousand picture of Elijah since he was born almost five months ago and Joe finds it very adorable.

Joe holds Elijah and Elijah looks at his Mama, ready to take pictures.

"Say cheese to sissy!" Mika says in a babyfied voice and Elijah smiles!

After taking a few pictures and going through the best ones, she sends them to Emilie G who is in college at University of Virginia, just like her mom Tia did.

"Are you hungry, bud? Are you hungry?" Joe asks Elijah in a babyfied voice and Elijah yawns.

"Let's go downstairs and make you a bottle then!"
Joe says as Elijah babbles happily.

"I'll be down in a minute! Let me wash my face. I'll take a shower later, I don't feel like it right now." Mika says as she yawns as well and stretches her arms.

"Love you, beautiful." Joe says as he kisses Mika and Mika kisses him back.

"I love you too." Mika says with a smirk at Joe before she kisses Elijah's cheek.

Joe carries Elijah downstairs to make him a bottle on the kitchen!

Joe grabs a bottle that was dry on the drying rack and he begins to mix the water and formula together before heating it up.

While Joe does all of this, he is holding the sleepy almost five month old baby in his arms.

"I know you had a rough day bud. I know. It's okay." Joe says as Elijah babbles at the cats who are watching Joe make the bottle.

"Meatball and Spaghetti this isn't for you two. You two already had breakfast. This is Elijah's breakfast." Joe says to Meatball and Spaghetti.  

Elijah stretches his hands out towards Joe and tries to touch his face.

"Are you trying to tell me something, buddy? What do you want to say to dada?" Joe asks his son while he finishes making the bottle.

Joe, Elijah and the cats all walk into the living room and they sit down on the couch.

Elijah babbles some more at Joe until Joe picks up the bottle and holds it towards Elijah's face. Elijah's eyes go big and Joe smiles at him.

"Looks like someone is hungry. Mmm, is that good?" Joe chuckles lightly at his son.

Mika quietly walks down the steps and she watches Joe feeding Elijah his bottle from a far.

Mika never thought when she and Joe started dating in late 2015 that they would really fall in love, get engaged in France and then married at the National Archives and now they are parents to a baby in their 50s. However she wouldn't have it any other way!

Mika walks over to the couch and sits down across from Joe and Elijah as she pets the cats happily.

Joe looks up and smiles at Mika and Mika smiles back at her two boys together.

"Mmm, is that yummy, baby boy? Good boy!" Mika says softly to Elijah and Joe.

"He might not eat it all." Joe says to Mika and she nods.

"That's fine. The pediatrician said as long as he eats something then that's good." Mika says to Joe as she smiles at Elijah and Elijah happily looks at Mika.

"Does it taste good ,bud? Mmmm! You seemed pretty hungry." Joe says as be smiles down at Elijah and Elijah looks good at Joe.

Elijah raises his arms and holds onto the bottle, holding his bottle on his own!

"Look at you, big boy! Holding your bottle!" Mika says and strokes Elijah's head playing with his hair.

Joe then rubs Elijah's head as Elijah continues to drink from his bottle.

Mika smiles at her two boys together and takes a few pictures of them to post on her Instagram page later.

"Aren't you adorable, Eli! Yes, you are!" Mika says to Elijah and sits back to admire her baby boy.

"I think we made the cutest baby in the whole world actually." Joe says proudly as Elijah finishes drinking his bottle.

"Oh yes, and a very hungry one too" Mika says as she giggles and smiles at both Joe and Elijah.

"Can you burp him, Meek?" Joe asks Mika and Mika happily nods.

"Of course! Come here, baby boy!" Mika says as Joe hands Elijah to burp while he cleans up his mess in the kitchen.

Once Elijah burps, Mika and Elijah cuddle on the couch together.

"Where are my cuddles?" Joe asks Mika playfully with a little pout on his face, causing Mika to giggle.

"Of course you can, baby." Mika says as she giggles some more and smiles up at Joe.

"You two are so adorable." Joe says as he tenderly kisses Elijah's cheek and kisses Mika a few times.

Joe then sits down next to Mika on the couch and then Mika lays on top of Joe with Elijah laying peacefully on his chest.

For the rest of the day, Joe, Mika and Elijah spent the day together, cuddling and relaxing together.

After a few days, Elijah felt back to his happy self! :)
