Return to Human (Halloween Special 1)

Author's Note: Part 1 to my Halloween special. I don't have the other part written, and besides, the second part will come on Halloween itself.

 Hopefully.

Still, I have that announcement to make this Sunday, and I need to work on editing a part to Renperor's Reign. Also, I'll be submitting the art that goes along with the Halloween special tomorrow.

 Enjoy the oneshot.

 Jason's POV:

 Summer.

Even when I was still human, I've hated the blazing sun and seemingly endless heatwaves that never seemed to go away.

Now, as a vampire, I hate it even more. Luckily, my brother came up with a potion that fight off the deadliness of the sun, but it didn't help with the heatwaves.

Of course, no amount of magic can help against a heatwave in Woltria; you just have to wait for October when the heat finally dies down.

 Luckily, October has finally started....

With a yawn, I opened my eyes and stared at the light purple wall of my bedroom.

 Strange...

 I thought to myself.

I don't hear Tom making himself breakfast. No matter the season, he was always up before me and getting himself some coffee.

Tiredly, I dragged my long limbs out of bed and stretched out with a small pop from my back.

 " Ack-!"

 Ow....

 Ugh.... Back pain's the worst...

 I blinked.

 Wait.

I haven't had back pain since I was huma-

 CRASH!BANG!CLATTER!

A loud series of noises, like dishes and mugs hitting the ground, came from the kitchen. The hair on my arms and neck stood up as I cautiously moved towards the door. As I passed by the mirror, I briefly stopped and stared at my pale, not grey and cracked, skin.

Slowly, I raised my hand to my eyes and rubbed at it. Once I took my hand away, I sighed as I stared into my now blue eyes.

" I know that I wanted to be human..." I mumbled as I opened my mouth and looked at my normal, still slightly sharpened, teeth, " but not like this...."

A cold chill came over me as I crossed my arms over my chest.

 Cold.

 It's very cold in here

In the end, I still need to go into the kitchen to investigate the noise. But without my supernatural strength, I don't know if I can fight whatever's out there.

Stealthily, I moved out the door and moved into the hallway. The wood beneath my feet creaked slightly as I bit my lip.

 Quieter.

 Move quieter.

 CRASH!CRASH!CRASH!

The horrible sounds of pans falling grew louder as I stood in the hallway that led to the living room and kitchen.

A quiet, pained sound whimper also came from the kitchen.

I frowned slightly as I reached up to adjust my glasses.... Yeah, Okay, I forgot my glasses in my bedroom. Honestly, now that my ears are a normal size again, I don't even think that my glasses would fit me now.

Maybe I can see if Tom knows where my old pair was?

 I shook my head.

 Later.

 I'll do it later.

Cautiously, I pressed myself against the wall and slightly turned in order to peer into the room. My eyes widened as I stared into the disorganized chaos that the kitchen had become. In the center of the kitchen, a long, noodle-shaped tan dragon was staring at the ground and clawing at their face.

" U-Uh....?" I quickly slapped my hand over my mouth as a sound escaped from it. Quickly, the dragon's ears perked up and its head whipped to look at me.

" RRAAAAAR! RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!" The dragon struggled to its feet and scrambled towards me as it let out a loud, pleading noise as its ears lowered.

" RAAAAARRRRR!" The dragon's claws scrapped against tile floor causing goosebumps to form on my skin as my eyes narrowed.

" I-I? What?" I questioned as the dragon tripped over its front legs and tumbled until it was against me. The dragon's ears twitched again as it raised its head.

Soon, the wheels began to turn as the connections began to take place. If I was turned back into a human, then Tom.....

I looked down at the dragon.

Would probably become some sort of monster?

" T-Thomas?" I questioned as the dragon tried to get up. Thomas gave me a soft nod as he stuck his forked tongue out of his long snout.

" Raaaarrrr....." Tom's ears lowered as he managed to sit down on his behind and raise his ears. Slowly, my brother looked up and down at me with a squint of his eyes.

Tom's head tilted slightly as he leaned closer to me and licked at my hand with his forked tongue. Immediately, and without thinking, I bopped him on the nose with my finger causing him to hiss and fall onto his back.

" Heh..." I stifled a chuckle with my shirt causing my brother to hiss and thrash more until he rolled onto his stomach. The now dragon let out a small growl and opened and closed his mouth.

 " Rrrrrraaaaaaaarrrrr....."

I shrugged my shoulders, " I wish I could understand you bro, but I don't speak dragon..." I frowned. Tom growled again and pointed at my hand with his scaly claw.

" Yeah... I guess I'm human." I shrugged again causing Tom to nod slightly, " Raar...? Rrr...."

Tom's ears soon perked up as he turned around and looked towards the landline phone that was on the other side of the kitchen. Then, a soft ringing emitted from the device causing Tom to hiss and lower his head.

Slowly, I scooted past my brother and carefully, very carefully, moved over the broken pieces of plate ware, china, and plastics until I reached the phone.

With a small click, I took the phone off of the receiver and held it close to my ear.

" J-Jason? Tom? Are you two there?" Quinn's voice, softer than usual, came from the other end.

" Yeah?" I mumbled as I shot my brother a worried look as he smacked his chin against his floor for the second time now.

" I... We need you two to get to the castle.... It's... I don't know how to explain it."

Before I could answer, Quinn quickly hung up on me after letting out a shaky breath.

 Okay....

This isn't good.... Then again, when you get a call early in the morning from what's essentially the third highest ranking member of the world, you have the right to be nervous.

" So, Tom..." I cleared my throat as my brother's ears perked up. Tom looked towards me and tilted his head,

" Do you know where my old pair of glasses went? The ones I wore when I was human?" I questioned as Tom nodded his head and pointed with his nose to a small drawer that was in the kitchen island.

With a grumble, I once again tiptoed through the littered tiles until I could safely open the drawer without the risk of cutting my foot open like it was a Christmas present.

I put my glasses on and blinked a couple of times. Thankfully, the glasses still fit and my prescription hadn't changed.

Problem number one: Find my glasses has been solved.

 Problem number two.....

I looked towards Tom as he tried to stand up again and immediately fell over with an 'huff'.

Problem number two, which is get Tom to the castle, is going to take a lot more thinking.... If anything, I'm pretty sure I can find some sort of magical item around here to help me out...

If Tom has anything like that....

 I hope....
