I Am You
Author's Note: Some mild body horror and gore in this one. Nothing too major, but it's good to say it before hand.
Enjoy.

Mumbo's POV:
" I-It's done..." I whispered.
I looked down and watched as my hooves slowly split apart and returned to being pale, normal hands. Tiredly, I pulled my sleeves up and watched at the pink-ish fur either dropped off of my arms or shrunk and morphed back into my normal, blond arm hairs.
As my legs went back to normal, I looked up at the blender and gagged. Grian's bloody, broken body was slumped against the back wall.
" I'm sorry, Grian... Y-You know that you would've d-done t-the same." I stuttered through the exhaustion. Grian's body remained dormant; there weren't even any signs of his body disappearing for the respawn progress.
I let out a shaky breath as I gripped the wall and forced myself to my feet. My legs buckled as I leaned against the wall and put my hand against my morphing snout as it turned back into my nose and mouth.
Everything was horribly sore as I continued to grip the wall and turned away from the blender. The corners of my vision blurred as I made my way towards the stairs.
It's fine...
It was just a.. a death.
Grian'll respawn in a bit. I-I can apologize.. No, I don't need to apologize.
Slowly, painfully, I climbed up the stairs and left the horrid room. Once I reached the top of the stairs, my legs gave out from under me.
My entire body was twitching as I rested my head at the top of the stairs. Everything was on fire as I let out a shaky wheeze.
CRACK!
I tensed up as the bones in my shoulder began to bend and snap like a glowstick. Meanwhile, down my spine and into my lower back, it felt like I was being stabbed like a million tiny pins.
" M-mb-?" A voice barely broke through the horrid pains in my back and cracks of my shoulders. Gently, a hand touched my head and touched my ranging ear. I let out a shaky breath as my ears seemed to be growing....changing.
" MU-M-O!" A new voice, still unrecognizable, briefly caused the ringing in my ears to stop. I sucked in a breath as the skin in my back began to peel.
Slowly, a pair of gentle hands touched my shoulders caused a yelp to escape from me. I gasped in pain and struggled to move away; my claws, I have claws now, dug into the grass as I hissed loudly.
The gentle hands soon morphed into gentle arms as I was picked up. Upon being picked up, I could hear the voice more clearly, " I've... you.." Impulse's voice drifted through my ears. Even if I could barely understand what all he was saying, I'm just glad that...
Ow...
Everything was hot again. My brain felt like it was being fried as I laid my head against Impulse's ches.....
((There's a floating Grian holding a sign that reads 'Unknown Timeskip'.))
" That's it Mumbo..." Impulse's voice slowly woke me from my slumber. My entire body was hot as Impulse's hand gently brushed against my forehead.
Impulse shuddered, " Your fever still hasn't gotten better." he mumbled, " I'll go see if Scar has anymore potions."
My ears twitched as I heard Impulse trudge away and out of the room. Slowly, I forced my eyes open and let out a soft wheeze as the light from the candle next to me flickered softly. I let out a soft sigh as I braced my arms against the bed.
" A-Aughh..." I groaned in pain as both of my shoulders continued to ache. Craning my neck and trying to avoid a strain, I looked behind me and stared at the awkwardly sized nubs that were twitching.
I stared at the nubs as the skin around my shoulders began to peel and bleed as bone and flesh continued to form. Everything was shaking as I blinked and stared at the long tail that had grown through the back of my pants.
Oh dear...
The pain continued to worsen as I forced myself up and onto my knees. My tail twitched as I slowly climbed off of the bed.
My entire body was still aching as I let out a shaky sigh.
Come on Mumbo...
I thought.
Just walk... The pain will go away if you move.
Slowly, I began to walk around the room.
As I passed the vanity mirror, a chill went down my spine and briefly cooled my burning head. I let out a shaky breath as I stopped just after passing the mirror.
Did I really see what I thought I saw?
My long ears lowered as I turned around and placed my hand on the dresser. I let out a shaky breath as I slowly forced myself back to the mirror and turned to face it directly.
I stared at my reflection as my ears remained lowered. Then, I let out a sigh of relief:
It was just me.
Well, it was as me as it could be.
My bare chest was covered in scratches and small slits where scales seemed to be growing. I looked at my eyes and stared at the purple color that seemed to be fighting against the green in one of my eyes.
Slowly, I turned my head in order to look at the long, dragon ears that forcibly took the place of my old ones. My tail thrashed as I licked at my sharpened teeth.
" This is fine..." I whispered, " I didn't see Grian... in the mirror." I mumbled as I closed my eyes in order to rub at my face.
I didn't see him.
I didn't see him.
I didn't see him.
I repeated as my ears perked up. A small cough, like someone clearing their throat, stopped my thoughts. My tail lowered as my skin crawled.
" Mumbo?" Grian whispered as I let out a shaky breath.
My tail thrashed as I slowly opened my eyes and looked around the room. But, it was the same as it was when I first woke up:
Clean, cold, and the slightest smell of sweets.
" Grian?" I forced out as I looked back up at the mirror.
I stared at my frightened expression as it slowly shifted into that of dread. Soon, my reflection began to change:
My hair turned a dirty blond.
Next, my mustache began to disappear.
Then, my size began to shrink.
Finally, my suit changed into a familiar red jumper.
My entire body was frozen in place as I continued to stare.
Slowly, the mirror Grian slowly raised his hand until it was against the glass; Meanwhile, against my will, my own hand raised and rested upon the glass. The two of us stared at each other in silence for some time.
Grian and I were breathing in sync.
What do I do? What can I do?
Is he mad at me? Is he the actual Grian? Or is he some sort of evil spirit that's trying to drive me insane?
" Mumbo..." 'Grian' eventually spoke, " Take a deep breath..." he whispered as his steely gaze softened. Following his instructions, I took in a deep breath and released it.
Somehow, I felt better after that.
" A-A-A-Are you...?" I stuttered as my back began to ache again. My tail curled around my leg as I tried to move my arms.
Grian nodded his head, " I... I am.. I... I don't know how this happened." he whispered as his ears lowered.
" W-Why haven't you respawned yet?" I questioned with a tilt of my head. Grian's head tilted as well until he corrected it. Slowly, Grian lowered his good arm and began to support his crushed one.
" I don't know, Mumbo... It didn't even kick me out of the game." Grian answered as he looked over the wounds that littered his body.
It didn't kick him out of the game?
What happened to his body in Other World then?
My tail twitched as I let out a shaky sigh, " S-Should we go back to the blender then? Try n' give you your body back?"
Grian's ears twitched, " S'ppose that's the best thing that we can do." he shrugged his shoulders and flinched; I flinched as well as pain shot up my arm despite it not be broken.
I nodded, " Okay... Let's go." I swallowed my spit as I turned away from the mirror and began wal-
" AH!" I yelled as the door opened.
" AH!" Impulse yelped and took a step back; his eyes were filled with fear. Once the two of us caught our breaths, Impulse tilted his head.
" M-Mumbo... W-Why are you out of bed? You're still sick." Impulse raised his hand to me. Gently, I raised my hand and wrapped it around Impulse's wrist and lowered it.
The nubs that were growing out of my back twitched. I let out a shaky breath, " I'm fine, Impulse..." I cleared my throat, " We-I- need to do something." I coughed as I corrected myself.
I can't let him know what happened to Grian. At least, I can't do it right now...
I could feel Grian staring at me despite him no longer being visible.
My long ears uncomfortably twitched as I stared down at Impulse, " W-Where's my suit?" I questioned as I looked down at my bare chest.
Impulse shook his head, " Mumbo Jumbo.... You need to stay here.." he motioned to the small cuts and scrapes that were opening up on my body. On top of that, he gently turned me around and looked at the bloody, tiny wings that were growing from my shoulder blades.
" Your wings look awful... I don't even think its a good idea for you to even wear your suit." Impulse sighed as he gently touched the top of my tail. Quickly, and fighting the urge to not gasp from the horrible pain, I turned around and hissed at Impulse.
My ears lowered as I crossed my arms over my chest, " S-Sorry."
The hermit frowned at me, " You should at least put a tank top on... Maybe with some holes in the back of it?" he suggested, " Then, you need to come back here immediately after you're done..."
I nodded my head as Impulse handed me the black tank top to put on.
After putting on the clothes, I let out a soft sigh as I waved goodbye to Impulse while forcing a smile. Impulse gave me a concerned look as he nodded his head.
I walked out of the room as my tail twitched. Ignoring the feelings of being watched, I let out a shaky sigh as I returned to the scene of my crime.
" T-This'll be alright, Mumbo." Grian mumbled as he appeared within one of the flickering candles. I nodded my head as I kept walking; my legs were still shaking as I reached the entryway into the room.
My ears lowered as I smelled the blood from within the other room.
" I hope that we can fix this..." I whispered as I forced myself inside.
Upon entering the room, it was almost the same as it was when I fled earlier. Blood, exposed redstone, and other things.
There was one different:
Grian's body had moved.
" U-Uh?" I tilted my head as Grian's body twitched.
Slowly, the body began to uncurl as the bones within his arms and legs began to reset. The body continued to twitch.
" This.... W-What's happening?" Grian questioned as a spectral form slowly became visible next to me. My entire body was frozen to the spot; I couldn't even bring myself to speak.
Grian's body continued to contort until it eventually stood up. The hybrid's wings began to twitch as his head tilted to the side as his wings flapped.
Then, the body's eyes opened:
And, it was a pure, glowing white color.
I let out a shaky breath.
" Well, well, well..." The hybrid's voice began to shift into something unhuman, " It's been a while since I possessed a body." it began to laugh, " I'm glad that I have found this one empty. Such a rarity~"
I blinked.
I allowed his body to be empty.
This is my fault.
" Leave h-his body alone..." I growled.
The being stared at me and began to grin even wider.
" What are you two going to do about it?" The being questioned as its wings flapped. I took out my sword and pointed it at the bei-
" AUGH!"
THUD!
Before I even had a chance to do anything, the being that stole Grian's body kicked me to the ground and flew past me. Still reeling from the pain of the earlier transformation, I turned my head and watched as the being stopped at the doorway.
" Thank you two for the body again... It'll do me wonders in defeating anyone that gets in my way..." The being laughed again as its hands glowed a bright purple.
I laid on the ground as my body began to burn again; a purple glow wrapped around my body and began to squeeze.
" Mumbo!" Grian floated between the being and me causing the magic to diminish. I looked up at Grian as his eyes began to glow purple.
The being growled as the magic within its hands disappeared, and I could move once more, " You're still strong even as a mere spirit, Watcher... I guess I need to get even stronger to destroy you fully...." it flapped its wings as it fled from the blender room.
Grian looked between the body snatcher and me. Then, he floated back at me and returned to my side, " We need to find the others..." he mumbled. I nodded my head as I slowly forced myself to sit up. My back and arms were hurting horribly as I let out a shaky breath.
Eventually, I forced myself to my feet as my tail thrashed, " L-Let's go." I forced out a strained whisper as the two of us left the room in order to find Impulse and the rest of the Boatem crew.
