Eating with the Eyes
Author's Note: It's not quite how I imagined it to go, but I think it's alright. I just can't think of a good ending. I've never been good at endings...

Doc's POV:
" ALRIGHT BOATEM!" I called out as I landed in front of the Boatem Hole, " WHERE ARE YOU GUYS! COME OU-!" I cut off my own sentence and took a step back as I turned towards Grian's train shop.
My eye narrowed as I used my cybernetic eye in order to zoom in on the train. Despite the zoom, I couldn't really make out much of what was happening.
From what I could tell, Impulse was in the shop and desperately trying to cut through a bunch of... cobwebs?
I unzoomed and shook my head.
Should I go help them?
I mean, it would just be funny to just leave them to their struggles due to their recent 'prank' that they released upon the Octagon.
With a sigh, I rubbed my muzzle and shook my head.
Honestly, I should just go back to the Octagon and just let Boatem figure out their own problems. But still, they are my friends, and besides, I need to know what's going on over there.
With a slow stride, I trudged my way across the grass and towards the rocky terrain of Grian's train area.
Impulse turned towards me and fixed his signature shirt; a heavy frown was across his face as he looked between me and something hidden from my view.
My tail twitched as Impulse moved closer in order to meet me less than halfway across the field. Impulse wiped something, probably cobwebs, off of his hands causing them to get stuck to his shorts.
" Doc. Hey..." Impulse greeted as I gave him a small nod, " What's going on here?" I questioned as I motioned with my head towards the train. Impulse shook his head, " Y-You're not going to believe it, Doc." he mumbled.
" I'll believe it once I see it." I simply answered as Impulse motioned with his hand for me to follow. My tail flicked as we reached the train car and climbed inside. Once again, Impulse motioned to the far end of the car and I turned to-
Oh my god.
Grian's barely conscious body was strung up in a giant spider web that had managed to split off into smaller, more refined cobwebs. Grian's head had lolled to its side and was stuck against the webs; a small bit of drool dripped down his chin and his cheeks and nose were flushed a strange milky white coloring.
" What happened here?" I questioned as my ears lowered. Impulse frowned and shrugged his shoulders, " I-I don't know. I just heard Grian screaming for help, and the next thing I know, I found him in this condition..."
Upon hearing his name, Grian blinked a couple of times and tried to peel his head away from the web.
" Immmppuuuullllssseeee? I don't.... I dooon't feel goood...." Grian sniffled as he coughed out some blood. Impulse nodded, " I know buddy.... We're trying to get you down. Just try and relax."
Impulse gave me a concerned look as I nodded and took out my sword and began to cut at the edges of the web.
After a good while of well placed swings and getting ourselves out of the webs, Impulse gently pulled Grian down from the webs and into a bridal carry. Grian let out a soft wheeze as he gripped Impulse's shirt with his hand.
" Thanks Doc... I'm taking Grian to his house..." Impulse frowned as he began to walk away.
" Hold on." I quickly spoke as I raised my claw. Impulse instantly froze mid-step as he glanced back me with a confused and spooked expression. My tail thrashed as I gently touched Grian's head and moved it until the other side of his neck was visible.
I nodded my head.
Bite marks.
Bite marks that seemed slightly frost bitten to be exact.
My tail twitched as I crossed my arms over my chest before adjusting my elytra.
" I... I need to find Etho." I mumbled as Impulse gave me a confused expression. The hermit's head cocked to the side as he adjusted Grian as he tried to touch Impulse's face.
" W-Well, good luck with that..." Impulse began, " No one's been able to get in contact with him. Last I heard, Iskall was going to go check on him."
My ears perked up at the statement as I quickly took out some rockets. Impulse took a step back as I took a running leap and launched myself into the sky.
" D-DO YOU NEED HELP?" Impulse shouted as I briefly turned to face him, "NO!" I shouted back, " HELP GRIAN RECOVER! KEEP HIM WARM!"
Impulse's eyes widened as he hurried towards Grian's cave.
Then, with multiple rockets at once, I flew out to Etho and Iskall's shattered savannah. Hopefully, I can get there before Etho... No, I don't want to thing about what that spider-ized hermit could do next.
((Minor timeskip of flying brought to you by.... webs? Why are there so many webs?))
My tail thrashed as I reached the shared base of my two friends.
I narrowed my eyes as I stared at the disturbing amount of webbing that had started to cover the base. My ears perked up as I scanned the immediate area and picked up two heat signatures.
A smirk formed on my muzzle as I dove down towards the base and landed in the No Fly Club building. My ears twitched as I looked towards the part of the base that Etho and Iskall actually lived in.
Then, I spotted something grey bolting past the window. I narrowed my eyes as I took out some blocks and quickly made a walkway towards the living area.
Once I got close enough, my ears perked up to the sound of chittering. I shuddered as I took out my sword and began to cut through the webs until I could stand in the window sill. My tail twitched as I looked around the web-covered room.
There, in the far corner of the room, I spotted Iskall almost fully incased in webs. Iskall's eye piece was flickering every now and again.
My ears twitched as I scanned around the room some more and spotted something grey, blue, and fuzzy eating something in the darkest corner of the room.
I frowned as I slowly dropped into the room causing the 'creature' to briefly shake. My tail and ears lowered as I snuck over to Iskall and began investigating the webs. Iskall's entire body twitched as I touched at the web that was holding his midsection up.
After Iskall twitched and shook the webs that he was attached too, I flinched and turned my head towards the sound of the 'creature' hissing. I watched as a spider-ized Etho, with his fuzz-covered body and many arms and eyes, slowly crawled out of the darkness.
" H-Hello Etho... I'm not here to harm either of you." I spoke as calmly and clearly as I could. My tail twitched as Etho sniffed the air then continued to move towards me.
What do I do in this situation?
Do I let him get close enough to me?
There's a chance that he'll bite me and poison me like the others; however, I need to figure out a way to stun him and turn him back to normal.
My tail twitched as I watched Etho as he continued to scuttle towards me and stare with his multiple eyes. As he grew closer, a lightbulb went off in my head.
Maybe if I show him spider eyes then it'll cause him to get sick. Surely, he doesn't want to eat them anymore. But, I need to trick him into thinking the spider eye is something else.
Quickly, I took out a ball and tossed it to the side causing Etho to perk up and chase after the thing like a dog. My tail twitched as I took out a spider eye and wrapped it up with an edible red wrapper.
Then, I turned to look at Etho as he hissed at the ball and shot webbing at it with his mouth until it didn't move anymore.
The spider Etho shook his head and hissed as he went back to moving towards me. All of Etho's eyes were staring at me as I took out the disguised spider eye.
Etho began hissing as all the fuzz on his body stood up on end. My ears lowered as I placed the disguised spider eye onto the ground and took a few gentle steps back.
Another hiss, this time quieter, came out of Etho as he wrapped his mouth around the 'food' and scuttled away into his corner in order to eat it.
SquelchSquelchSquelch
Etho chomped on the eye then immediately began to gag and shake as his many arms started to shrink back into his sides. The hybrid turned towards me as the grey fuzz that covered his body began to disappear.
" HSSSS!" Etho leapt at me with his mouth open and fangs bared. Quickly, I dove out of the way causing the transforming hermit to smack into his own web and began to screech and struggle.
" AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaa....aaaaaa........aaaaaaa.."
Etho's animalistic screaming soon shifted into a softer, strained groans of pain. The fuzz on Etho's body disappeared as his multiple eyes closed and vanished until his two human ones were left.
Slowly, I moved towards Etho as he weakly struggled in the web. My tail twitched as I gently put my clawed hand on Etho's shoulder.
" A-Auughhh..." Etho groaned in pain and discomfort as he looked down at me: his eyes were bloodshot as he let out a strained cough.
" Here we go, Etho." I whispered as I cut the webs that kept Etho stuck then pulled him away. My tail twitched as I ran my hand through Etho's hair as I moved him to the window that I entered the base through.
Etho weakly smiled at me with his still sharp teeth-filled mouth as he tried to touch my face with his shaking hand. Gently, I laid him against the wall and gently rubbed my thumb against his cheek as his eye closed.
" It... hurts... Doc.." Etho wheezed as I nodded, " I know... Just breathe and don't move too much.." I told him as he nodded and let his arms lay at his sides.
I sighed as I walked away from Etho in order begin freeing the poisoned Iskall.
Before I did that, however, I sent a message to Ren in order to alert him on what was happening and to ask him for help.
Thankfully, It didn't take long for Ren to appear, and we both worked on transporting both Iskall and Etho to Renbob's van.
