Skallmo (AU)
Author's Note: A bit of a confusing story, ya know? Takes place in some kind of twisted AU of sorts. Once the two fused, it's like the both of them never existed. Well, no, I wouldn't entirely say that.... See, there's some little glitches that tend to happen... Some people are aware that some things aren't making sense and others are seeing the glitches first hand.
Let's hope the hermits can figure out what's going on before something bad happens 'ey?
(Honestly the concept of this story is real spooky)
Enjoy

Mumbo's POV:
" Oi! Are you alright man!?"
My eyes clenched as I let out a strained grumble.
I slowly forced myself to sit up and everything ached. Everything felt wrong. Oh so very wrong. My whole body shuddered as I slowly reached my hands up in order to rub my face.
An eye piece?
Why did I have something over my eye? I tugged at the eye piece and frowned heavily. This is even worse. Why is it stuck to me? The eye piece slowly whirred to life and so did my arm.
" Mate, are you even listening to me?" The voice continued causing me to shake out of my thoughts. Slowly, I turned my head in order to look up at the person.
Grian.
" Jeez man, when I saw you unconscious in the Omega Machine, I nearly had a bloody heart attack." Grian frowned as he helped me up. I looked down at my clothes and tilted my head. My suit had moved into a black vest with a green undershirt. My tie was the same, thankfully.
What really bugged me was that I was wearing jeans now, and I had what looked like Iskall's hoodie wrapped around my waist.
Speaking of that Swede, wasn't he with me when the redstone malfunctioned? Weren't we working on a Hermit Challenge together?
" Where's..... Where's Iskall?" I questioned in my rather strange sounding voice: It sounded deeper for some reason.
Grian gave me a confused look,
" Who's Iskall?"
My whole body froze up as a sudden headache ruptured through me. I let out a pained gasp as my whole body braced itself against a cold piece of stone.
" Skally, are you alright? What's gotten into you?" Grian's eyes were filled with panic as he slowly helped to steady how I was standing. I looked at Grian again, " Skally? M-My name's Mumbo though, Grian...." I told him causing Grian to frown again, " L-Look, I'm going to go get Xisuma to check you out.... Stay here." his wings flapped as he turned and took off into the sky.
We can't stay here bro.
I jumped as a voice came from inside my head.
" A-Am I going insane?" I questioned as I grabbed my shoulders.
No, you're not... We need to find a mirror and hide though. I don't know what X and Grian will do to us.....
I fixed my elytra and nodded at the voice in my head. It's kind of funny that I'm agreeing with it. When I asked Grian about Iskall, he just seemed confused. On top of that, he looked at me as if I was a mad man when I mentioned my name to him. If I said anything else, the nails would've already been in the coffin.
" W-Where do we go though?" I asked causing the voice to let out a thoughtful hum. I shook my head, " Can you bloody not? That's a terrible noise to hear in someone's head." I grumbled as I took off into the sky.
The voice let out an annoyed sigh.
Mumbo, man, I'm sorry to say this, but you've gotta deal with my little mannerisms...
If the voice had a face, he'd be rolling his eyes at me.
Look, I think we can hide in the inner part of your spookification chamber. It just needs a little bit of clearing out, and no one would even think to look there.
The voice sounded happy with his idea. I nodded my head and turned myself in the direction of the shopping district.
Going through the Nether wouldn't be a smart idea. Not when Grian and the others could be trying to find me, no, us once they found that we weren't there.
My body shuddered as I frowned.
Calm down Mumbo...
The voice now sounded quieter, calmer as I suddenly stopped shuddering and felt as if I was forced into the back of my mind. I caught a strange vision of Iskall giving me a hug before sitting at some sort of control panel.
Iskall?
" Yes?"
Do you remember how this happened to us? Why we're... trapped in the same body, and our names don't exist? W-We don't exist....
Iskall let out a sigh as he landed on top of the spookification chamber.
" I don't really know Mumbo. My mind's gone all blank before we were woken up by Grian... I-I think I remember some sort of redstone explosion and magic... gone wrong...?"
I sat down in the strange, empty chamber and looked around as Iskall did. The hermit dug through the top of the witch's hat and dropped into the chamber above its head.
After we entered the hat, Iskall fixed the hat so that the point had returned and no one would be suspicious.
The hermit placed a torch down and sat down against the hat. I frowned as Iskall tapped against his communicator causing something in me to twitch.
Soon, I was forced out of our shared mindscape. I looked down at my glowing, red body and frowned at it.
" It's the best that I can do." Iskall shrugged his shoulders. I nodded my head, " Well, at least I have a body now. We can have an actual conversation that isn't one-sided." I let out an awkward laugh causing Iskall to join.
Our joint laughter was cut off by loud voices outside. I felt myself go back into our mind. Iskall snuffed the torch, and we sat in silence.
What do we do?!
I curled up into a ball.
" Just stay q-quiet." Iskall whispered.
We sat there for seconds. Seconds that turned into minutes. Still, we didn't move. I could hear the voices outside. It sounded like Grian, Etho, and Xisuma.
" Where do we look now?" Grian questioned. Xisuma sighed, " We'll try the Nether next?" he sounded tired and annoyed. Pretty soon, the sound of many footprints disappeared, but I still felt incredibly uneasy.
Iskall pressed us closer to the wall as a pickaxe struck through the wall. I yelped causing Iskall to flinch. The two of us looked up at Etho stood in the light omniously. Quickly, the hermit covered up the hole and took out a lantern.
" Hello gentlemen..." Etho greeted with a small wave.
" Did you just say gentlemen?" Iskall questioned causing the hermit to nod.
" I remember what this world used to be. I remember the both of you.... Come on, we've got to get you two somewhere else." Etho waved his hand for us to follow. Iskall nodded his head, stood up, and we were soon in the air and flying out to the gaming district.
Hopefully, we can trust Etho ...
No, No we can trust him... He's Etho.
