Beef's POV:
I shivered as my tail wrapped around my leg.
The jungle was cold for some reason. It wasn't even nighttime due to Bdubs's continuous sleeping even when it got close to sundown.
Why was I so cold though?
A jungle, no matter where it is, or what season its in, should be cold.
My ears twitched as I rubbed the underneath of my nose with my sleeve. I should've brought a coat or something.
It's kind of weird, honestly.
I'm Canadian. I should be enjoying this cold and handling it, but I'm not. This cold is supernatural to say the least. It's like someone is forcing it to happen.
My tail uncurled from another my leg as I walked through the jungle. I looked up as my ears went back. A giant cloud of black was slowly spreading overhead. White snowflakes came down from the sky as I stuck out my hand and let them fall into my hand.
" X isn't online..." I mumbled as I checked my communicator. The only other person that both lived in this jungle, and could feasibly produce ice, was Etho. I shook my head. No, Etho, my dear buddy Etho, could control his powers over ice. He can't just spontaneously make it snow..... can he?
" Ethooooo?" I called out as my ears perked up. I started to pick up the pace in my walking as I moved towards the monstrosity. I should be flying, but I'm just afraid that my elytra would get all icy and break.
I let out a soft sigh as my tail twitched. The jungle was getting darker the closer that I got to Etho's base. The snowstorm was getting more severe the closer I got to the base of my fellow Canadian.
Giant ice crystals were growing around the mix-matched base and frost wrapped around the many trees and spread along the ground. I stepped onto the snow causing my boot to sink into the snow.
How can this much snow build up over a small amount of time? When did it build up? This storm couldn't have started a mere few minutes ago, but it's already this insane. My tail twitched as I climbed the mighty staircase and 'entered' the build.
The snow was thicker on Etho's base, and the swirls were growing more dangerous. I opened my bag and brought out a scarf. My tail twitched as I hastily wrapped it around my neck and mouth. I still can't believe that the cold has gotten this bad.
" EthooooOOOO?" I called out again; this time I was louder than before. My ears perked up to coughing as I hurried up the next flight up stairs. My heart was racing as my white breath came out of my mouth.
Where was Etho?
I continued to look around until some sniffling caught my attention. My tail swished as I got to Etho's 'bedroom' that had had managed to build walls around in order to keep the normal elements out.
" Etho?" I questioned in a calm voice as my tail twitched. An uncomfortable sound came from near the grey-colored double bed. The blankets were all gathered close to the pillow on the bed. A soft, tired sound came from the blankets as glowing blue eye and purple eye stared at me.
" Hey buddy......" I tilted my head as a small child slowly removed its blankets. The child stared at me as I moved closer to him, " E-Etho?" I questioned as the child wiggled out of the blankets and flopped over. Little Etho was wiggling around in his giant clothes as ice formed around him.
I frowned, " Etho... It's Beef..." I told him as the child moved away from me as ice formed on his hands and face. My tail twitched as I sat down on the edge of the bed; I shivered as my ears twitched.
The little Etho looked back at me with his eyes glowing slightly; he shuffled slightly as he wiggled again. My ears twitched, " You've got to remember me man... I'm your friend... a fellow Canadian... we.. we were apart of the nho...Doc's group." I mumbled as Etho sneezed causing white breath to come out of his mouth.
Etho wiggled some more until he was against my side. He stuck his little hands under my scarf and touched my neck. I yelped and flinched. Cold... Cold little hands! The little ice man flinched as well and moved away, " Nooo I'm sorry... Your hands are just real cold..." I told him as the child whimpered.
I held my arms out as the child put his tiny arms onto mine, and I slowly brought him closer to me. The little Etho let out a small sigh as he wrapped his arms and legs around me. I sighed. I don't really know what caused this, and I don't know what to do with him.
I left out a soft 'hmm' as Etho put his head under my beard and rubbed himself against my neck. My tail twitched as the snow and frost around us seemed to die down. I ran my hand through Etho's hair as he let out a small murmur of content, " Alright, let's... get you to my base maybe? Or maybe Joe's....? I don't know." I shook my head slightly. Etho didn't really seem to care about my ramblings.
My tail twitched as I left the snow ridden base of Etho's creation. The storm was quickly dying down as I carried the small hermit away. I let out a small sigh as I walked to the Nether portal.
((Time skip brought to by little Etho trying to grab Beef's tail and cooing))
" So, you don't know how this happened?" Joe questioned as he dried the little Etho off with a warm towel. I nodded slowly as I wrapped myself up in the warm blanket after changing out of my wet clothing. I looked at Etho as he wiggled around until Joe briefly let go of him. He waddled over to me and sat down in my lap after making happy, little noises.
" I think that Stress n' I can wrangle up some clothes for the little guy, and I can tell you about taking care of a little one." Joe told me as I nodded. My tail twitched, " So, uh, what do we do about Etho's mind?" I questioned as Etho saw my tail again and tried to grab it.
Etho managed to put his small hands onto the tuft of fur on my tail and happily stare at it with wide eyes. He looked at me and grinned. I smiled at him, " It's kind of weird, Joe..." I mumbled as Joe tilted his head, " What's weird?" he questioned as he started to type on his communicator.
" Etho still has all of his scars, right down in the ones on his chest." I told him as I moved Etho's towel briefly. Joe nodded, " Yeah, most deaged hermits have a lot of their normal characteristics with them... Even the injuries." he explained.
I blinked a couple of times as Joe continued to type on his communicator, " So, uh, how many hermits have gotten 'deaged' as you put it?" I questioned as Etho let go of my tail and laid down The child curled up and drifted off rather quickly.
" A lot of us... I think the only people that haven't ended up as a child are False, Cleo, Stress, Hypno, Xb, X, Void, Biffa, Bdubs, Keralis, and you." Joe listed off as he counted off on his other hand. Joe looked back at his communicator and quickly typed with a nod.
That's not a lot of people that've dodged becoming a child. I kind of wonder why the rest of us haven't become kids yet. It's probably magic related, so I really can't understand it. I let out a soft sigh as my tail twitched.
Joe stood up slowly, " Stress is on her way with some emergency clothes." he told me as he stretched out. My ears twitched as I blinked, " I think I hear Stress..." I told him as Joe nodded. Joe opened the door and Stress was panting slightly on the other end.
" I flew and ran here as fast as I could loves." Stress looked around, " Where's the little guy at?" she questioned as I slowly turned around while trying to keep Etho asleep. Stress held a shulker box in her arms as she looked at the sleeping hermit that was slowly wrapping his arms around one of mine.
I stood up as Etho moved closer to me. My ears twitched as the little ice hermit continued to move closer to me. Stress looked Etho over, " Well, he doesn't seem hurt... just exhausted." she mumbled. I explained how I found Etho in the storm that he created causing Stress to look up at me.
" Oh dear." Stress looked at Etho and ran her hand through Etho's hair, " Do you have an idea on how old Etho is?" Stress questioned as I shook my head. Stress looked to Joe, and he shook his head as well. Stress nodded her head, " Okay, okay, we can probably do a scan to see how old he is... nothing too bad."
Stress walked over to Joe's bathroom and set the shulker box down, " Do you want to put him in some warmer clothes or should I?" she questioned as I looked at Etho. My tail twitched, " You can get him changed. My arms are honestly really sore..." I let out a small chuckle as Stress gently took Etho from me without waking him up.
I watched as Stress walked to the bathroom and closed the room. My arms stretched out as I sighed, " It feels real good to be able to feel my arms again." my tail swished as Joe sat next to me. Joe let out a soft laugh as he took his glasses off and rubbed his eyes; he let out a soft yawn.
" Are you okay?" I questioned as Joe looked at me, " Yeah, 'm just tired... ah guess... Doc's been working on his goat mountain, and it's been keepin' me awake." he shrugged as he stretched out.
My tail twitched as I looked at Joe, " What has he been doing?" I questioned as Joe shrugged, " Don't know...." he mumbled as he stretched. The more that Joe spoke, the more tired that Joe became. Joe soon leaned against me and blinked a couple of times, " When have you last slept?" I questioned as Joe shrugged, " Now that I think about it... I think a few days ago? Doc's been... real.. real crazy..." he mumbled as he closed his eyes.
I laid Joe down as he slowly fell asleep in my arms. I frowned as my ears twitched. My tail slapped against the ground. I honestly didn't expect that Joe would fall asleep this quickly. I wonder what kind of things Doc was doing, and why it made Joe this tired.
I shook my head. No, my focus is on Etho right now. My tail twitched as I looked up and saw Stress as she came back into the room. I told Stress what Joe had told me causing her to frown. I stood up slowly and gently took a pajamaed, sleeping Etho from her.
" Thanks... I'm going to take Etho to my base." I told Stress as she nodded, " I'll deliver some things a little later with Iskall's help. He's been saying that he's been bored after all." she mused as I laughed slightly.
I nodded, " Well, I'll see you in a little bit." I mused as Stress smiled and waved as I left Joe's base and took off towards my own base in the desert.
Once I got home, I laid down on the couch with little Etho on top of me. The small hermit snuggled closer to me until he was laying on my chest. I smiled as my tail wiggled. After a few minutes of watching Etho, I may have fallen asleep.
