[4] Nothing
Triple update!
Reader POV (Present)
"You fucker." I raised my sword laced with shadow magic, my twin kitsune Atsumu and Osamu made of shadow licking their lips as they prepared to take down the simulation.
I was currently training in the lab I created underground, seeing I had a bit of time before my auidence with the wizard king.
"Stupid, stupid curse." I ended the simulation quickly, no longer finding it enjoyable.
My two shadow spirits hissed with annoyance and I leaned down, patting Osamu's fluffy gray fur.
"Sorry, boys. I'll find you much better prey."
Osamu simply nuzzled his face into my hand, laying down like the lump of lazy he could be.
However Atsumu started to run around me, purring loudly.
I looked at my watch and recalled them back into the shadows since it was time for me to go.
When I got to Julius's office, he was already there with Nozel.
"Why did you call us both?" Nozel frowned. "We're both busy."
I ignored him. "Lord Julius, I wish to take this mission solo. I'd rather not be a distraction for him."
Julius chuckled. "Very well. I suppose you could take the mission."
"Thank you." I stood up to leave when Nozel stopped me.
"(y/n). Let's talk."
I shook my head. "I wouldn't want to stop you since you're so busy."
Julius let out a bit of nervous laughter. "Ahaha...I'll leave you two to talk."
"No need." I said. "I've got nothing to say to him. Oh, and Julius?"
"Hm?"
"Where's Damnatio Kira? I want to make my divorce final."
Julius looked over to Nozel with shock. "I didn't know you two were filing for a divorce. I thought you two were madly in love."
"We were," I said. "But not anymore."
"I see. I'll contact Damnatio."
I left the room, hearing Nozel behind me.
"(y/n). Stop right there."
I ignored him and slipped into the shadows, leaving him in the dark hallway.
He sighed and closed his eyes. "Gods, why do I even try anymore."
Ha, then stop it.
He looked down at his wedding ring that he stupidly wore. "Mother, I don't know what to do. I want to love her again, but she won't let me."
I sat down in the shadow realm that was the opposite of this realm.
Nozel walked up to the window, tracing his hands on the window and drawing patterns. "I want to make up with her, but I just don't know where to start."
I closed my eyes and moved so I was right in front of him, literally coming up from the ground, my eyes ablaze.
"You can never make up with me," I said. "Want to know why?"
Nozel looked lost and he nodded slowly.
"Because there's nothing to make up. We're nothing." I pointed to his wedding band. "You should get rid of that. It makes me sick."
He only looked down. "Tell me what I have to do for you to forgive me."
"It will never happen, but you can start by fucking off."
Nozel gulped and took a deep breath. "Your things are still at the castle-"
"Your castle," I corrected. "That place was never my home."
"Shall I bring them to your library?"
"No. I have no use for all that junk."
"What about your photobooks?"
I glared at him. "Like I said: I have no use for that junk. Why would I ever want to remember things we shared in the past?"
He didn't speak, the pounding rain becoming the loudest thing right now.
"His name is Noah."
Nozel looked at me with confusion.
"I named our son." I held up the locket.
"Oh..."
I left Nozel in the hallway, putting my raincoat over my body and not caring about him.
I could feel the torment Nozel was going through, but I didn't care.
He could be on fire and I wouldn't spit on him.
In fact, I would pour gasoline on him.
I arrived back at the astronomy tower and saw Langris Vaude with a familiar girl.
"Hello, Langris," I said to him and he nodded to me. "I see you are checking out constellation books. Do you need any help?"
The girl looked like me but was younger. "You must be me from another story,"
"Yep. Nice to meet you, other me."
I sent the two off, feeling a bit of jealousy for their seemingly perfect relationship.
Even though the vice captain of the Golden Dawn and that girl were clearly in love, they were too shy to tell each other.
"Hey, Langris?" I called to him. "Love and cherish her each day."
He stared at me with an angry blush. "Hey! I don't-"
"You love her. Accept it and go get her before someone takes her," I advised. "Now get out of my library and snuggle up together."
He glared at me one last time before grabbing the girl's hand and exiting back to their base through his portal.
I made my way up to my bedroom after helping Siran and the other workers organize some books and do repairs for the older ones.
"Ne, Miss (y/n)?"
"Yes, Siran?"
He looked down with a blush. "Do you mind giving me dating advice? I found someone I really like and he-" Siran's eyes widened and he covered his mouth.
"He?" A smile formed on my mouth. "Who is he?"
"You're not disgusted...?"
"Why would I be?" I asked him. "You do you, honey. I could care less if you're gay, straight, bi, aro, ace, whatever. That's your business."
"Oh, wow! Okay!" He showed me a picture of the guy he had a crush on and it was Kirsch Vermillion.
My smile disappeared. "Kirsch?"
"Yeah..." Siran looked down. "What do you think?"
I couldn't help but feel pity towards my underling since I knew Kirsch and most royals were homophobic.
I indeed knew that Kirsch especially hated anyone who liked the same gender romantically.
"Well?"
I shrugged and patted his soft blue hair. "I don't think you should be asking me for dating advice. But I will say this: choose someone who will make you happy."
Siran nodded and ran off to go tell his older brother Marx.
I made my way up the stairs, sitting by the window once more.
I couldn't help but wonder what would've happened if I didn't leave that day, but there was no use.
What happened happened.
I poured myself a nice cup of red wine, looking through old pictures despite what I said before.
Where did it all go wrong?
My shadow spirits emerged and curled up on my lap, not caring about anything.
I sighed and ruffled their fur, scratching them behind the ears.
"I wish I had it easy like you guys," I said to them with bittersweet sorrow.
Nozel POV
I sat alone in my dining room, my food growing cold.
"Nozel?"
I looked up to see Noelle.
"What is it, Noelle? What are you doing here? Don't you have missions to fail in that horrendous squad of yours?"
She took a deep breath and her shoulders drooped. "Nozel, you just don't get it. You claim to love her, yet you treat her like crap. Makes me wonder how someone as amazing as her could fall for someone like you."
I watched my youngest sister leave, not looking back once.
Then it was dark again.
Abandoning my food, I walked to the ballroom where I once danced with her in my arms.
It was like a shadow constantly haunted me, always reminding me that everything that tore us apart was purely my fault.
Music would play and I would have her in my arms, smiles on both of our faces and not a care in the world.
I should've never married you!
I could remember her words clearly.
If I could turn back time and fix everything, I would.
In my stupidity of youth, I drove away the one person that was there for me in the hardest of times.
Her brother hated me and was against her marrying me at first, but he made me promise to take care of her.
He said he would only give me his blessing if I made a promise to protect, love, and never harm her.
Clearly, I broke that promise.
I remembered Nacht telling me right before they left that he would never forgive me.
If I could kill you, I'd do it seven times.
I grabbed the bottle of wine, drinking it stupidly, throwing it out the closed window that shattered on imact.
Lightning flashed across the sky as I looked up at it, feeling numb.
I had no idea how to even begin apologizing since I knew she'd never listen to me, but it had to happen.
She was risking her life every single day for the past six years while I had sulked and taken my anger out on various things.
Truly, I wished we could just go back to how we once were.
