There is much more to the world we live in than meets the eye. Things exist... things, that others would have you believe are fiction. You need not worry though, for there are those that protect you so you can keep living in your fairy tale world. 

Those who know the truth, their life are fraught with danger. The "bliss of ignorance" has been taken from them and the existence of supernatural manipulation of humanity cannot be ignored. However, they cannot simply reveal this knowledge to mundane authorities since they will be branded as unstable and insane. So in the darkness, behind the scenes, they work to protect mankind. 

They wage a desperate, clandestine war against the inhuman, ageless forces that manipulate mankind. They see their task as taking back the night from bloodsuckers, ravaging beasts, vengeful spirits and manipulative sorcerers. They must face mankind's worst fears made real in the most deadly game of the Hunt in order to fulfill the task they have set before them: to "Inherit the Earth".

But, there is a plot brewing, and if the orchestrators have their way, souls will be stolen, barriers will be broken, and the rules will be rewritten. Their actions will cost humanity dearly. Never before have there been so many attacks, reports of weird sightings and events. It’s as if the gates have been thrown open allowing demons and other creatures to gain entry en masse, humans will be helpless as lambs before lions. Will the hunters and defenders find out before it’s too late? More importantly, will they fight... or stand by idly?

THE COVER UP

Depravity, Illinois - Sunday, 11:40:22 - December 24, 1922

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the city, not a creature was stirring; not even a mouse. Stockings were hung by the chimneys, in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there. Children were nestled in their beds, while visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.

...This was the case for most of the city’s residents. Despite an active curfew and strict prohibition laws, people still walked the streets at night. There weren't many places to go, but if you were looking for a good time and maybe consume some illegal goods… then, maybe there was a hole in the wall for you. These places were usually the sites of a few crimes, but never anything so... disturbing. 

A woman we will be calling Jane, will be the focus of tonight's story. Like everyone else, she was just out to have a good time. And after, what we assume was a long night of illegal substance consumption and partying, she decided to go home with a gentlemen caller (at least that's what whiteness’s say). Either way, the young lady didn't make it past the back alley. Things got heated, one thing lead to another, and then, something went wrong -- because what happened after that, turned a site of passion into a horrid crime scene.

But, this news would stay between the Depravity Police Department and those involved. The murder of Jane Doe would be cleaned up and swept under the rug, as if nothing had ever happened. Why? Well, because the death of that young woman was, but one of many others thought to be work of a serial killer dubbed the ______. 

Since 1917, this killer has been racking up bodies, leaving not a trace of evidence behind. Eventually, it was all the media could talk about, which drove the citizens of Depravity into frenzy. That was just fuel fire and flames of chaos spread. Soon, people were too scared to leave their own home and if they did, they would not do so without protection. This was fine, until a string of accidental shootings popped up. It seemed people were shooting at anyone lurking in the dark and behaving mischievously. After that, a strict curfew was enforced and martial law was being considered. Once things reached that point D.P.D. made a decision...

Two weeks later a killer was caught, tried, and convicted; it was a miracle. Just yesterday there was a crazed killer on the loose, mass hysteria was spreading, and the city was on the verge of having a soldier on every corner... then, all of a sudden, a man was sentenced to death row for the murder of countless people. And with that, everything returned to normal. Except 5 years later, murders fitting the same pattern continue to happen. The only difference between now and then is that these murders are buried and kept out of the public’s eye.

A decision was made, that only a few are privileged to know about. The decision to stage the biggest cover-up in history took place in this city. There is no telling who all is in on it, but what is obvious is that the city of Depravity has turned a blind eye to these deaths. All that stands between this killer and his victims is a single task force.

THE PLAN
Midnight Requiem is a horror crime mystery role-play with an interesting twist. It takes place during the Roaring 20's or 1920's in the fictional American city of Depravity. The city is home to many illicit things and known for its corruption. But, its newest attraction has the media and everyone else in an uproar. A serial killer has settled down and made his mark by ruthlessly murdering his victims. Deaths are completely random; with no pattern what so ever and crime scenes are left a bloody mess; which seems to be the psycho's calling card.

The roleplay will revolve around the killer and the team of detectives put on the case. But, what the team will soon find out is that the city is home to more than a crazed killer. Solving these murders also means uncovering age old secrets. You see the city that many of them thought they knew so well, actually is just a facade to a much darker one. Though our characters will be pretty normal, everyone else is not.
