| ii. THE FIRST LESSON
Victoria hurried through the forest, trying to find Bloom. Her mind was telling her that something was wrong and it was worrying her. She felt attached to the ginger for some reason, but she didn't know why. The girl has always been like this - she cared for people she lived with.
Suddenly she stopped in front of a barrier. Even though it was invisible, she could feel strong magic radiating from it. Victoria placed her foot beyond the barrier and after few seconds of thinking, she stepped out of the safe zone. She let out a sigh, carefully looking around the forest, in hope of finding Bloom close to the barrier.
After some time of walking, she saw a fire behind the trees. Victoria swore under her breath and quickly ran up to the source of the blaze. Her gaze caught a panicked Bloom shaking her hands, trying to get rid of the fire. The girl was panting, a petrified expression on her face.
"Bloom! It's okay, let's just calm down and not panic, okay?" Victoria spoke. She knew it was dumb to say those words, but she couldn't care less.
The ginger whimpered with tears in her eyes. "What are you doing here, just go!" She shouted, throwing fire balls on the ground. Bloom took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down, but it wasn't helping. "Please, just go away!"
Suddenly a path of fire started to appear in front of her, making Vicroria gasp in shock. She outstretched her left hand, summoning a barrier of red energy in front of her, protecting the girl from the fire. Victoria twisted the other hand in a fist, making a red ball appear in the air. She aimed the orb at the fire Bloom was causing and lunged it forward, grunting in the result.
"How did you-" Bloom started, her chest raising up and down quickly.
Victoria grabbed her arm and pulled her with her. "It's not the time for that," She spoke as they hurried through the forest to get to the barrier. "You're lucky I stopped you, before something happened."
"Yeah, thanks for that," She gulped, feeling ashamed of herself. "I was just trying to figure myself out." Bloom stated, as they were walking down the path that was leading them to the castle.
The brunette girl nodded, sighing. Suddenly she felt guilty that she didn't go after Bloom earlier. Victoria felt responsible for her roommate's actions. "Bloom you need to be more careful with your magic."
"I know, it's just that... I've done magic once in my life and it was tragic," Bloom started, sniffling sadly. "So... my mom and I don't really get along. I know shocker. I'm not exactly the ideal daughter for her, she'd love a cheerleader, and I'm whatever the opposite of a cheerleader is." The girl confessed, making Victoria look her in the eye as they stood in front of the gates to the castle.
"Bloom... I'm sure your mom loves you the way you are." Victoria tried to reassure the ginger. Her chest was heavy, since she knew where this was going.
The ginger chuckled dryly. "Yeah... And some day, at night I couldn't fall asleep 'cause I was so mad, then it happened..." Bloom waved her hand, now tears falling from her eyes. "It was like the fire had a life of its own. And I just remember their screams, then every day after that night I just snuck out and slept in the old warehouse, until Miss Dowling found me. " Bloom confessed. Victoria got to know the truth, it was painful for her to feel Bloom's sadness.
"I'm sorry it happened to you, Bloom," Victoria placed her hand on the ginger's shoulder in a reassuring manner. "But it won't be easy for you here and if you're struggling with anything, feel free to come to my room." She said, nodding slightly.
Bloom laughed quietly, taking a deep breath. "Thanks, again."
"You should go back, you probably have classes in the morning." Victoria patted Bloom's back and the brunette girl walked away from the hall, heading to her sister's suite.

"Show me what you've got, Dani," Victoria teased her sister with a grin on her face. The girl smirked at her, before lunging forward aggressively towards her, but Victoria managed to dodge the attack in time. She swore under her breath and raised her leg, kicking Danielle in the stomach.
She stumbled back with a grunt, before she threw a punch aiming for her jaw. Victoria gasped in shock as she was sent to the floor with a loud bang. Danielle hovered over her with a triumphal smirk on her face. Her sister outstretched her hand, helping her sister got up from the platform.
Victoria puckered her lips and clicked her tongue. Suddenly she raised her leg and kicked her sister in the knees, making her stumble back and fall into the cold water.
Danielle gasped for air as she came out of the water. "You motherfucker, that was good." She commented, wiping her eyes.
"You should never lower your guard." Victoria lectured her sister, pointing a finger at her face. Danielle rolled her eyes and nodded, before getting up and heading to get the swords.
A whistle came from behind her back, making the girl sigh. She sensed it was Riven who was ready to throw some snarky comments about the girl. "Your sister..." He started, shaking his head while chuckling. "She's kinda hot."
"Why are you telling me this?" She questioned, her eyebrows furrowed.
He shrugged his shoulders. "Are you jealous, I called her hot and not you?" Riven asked, making Victoria make a face full of disgust. The boy was annoying to the point, she felt a sudden need to throw him into the pond.
Victoria sighed, raising her hand. A red wisp danced between her fingers, ready to attack. She cleared her throat, glaring at Riven, who was unaffected by her actions and it seemed like he hadn't seen the red energy between her fingers. A big red orb appeared in her hand, making her eyes turn crimson red. She quickly threw the ball in Riven's chest, sending him back and throwing him into the water.
"You're a fucking fairy," He gasped, staring at her in shock. "Why the fuck are you in the specialists?"
Victoria crouched down at the platform to look Riven into his eyes. She raised her eyebrow at him, her eyes still red. The girl tilted her head and ducked his head under the water. "You're too cocky for a nerd like you." She exclaimed, before standing up and walking down the platform.
As she walked down the path leading to the castle, Victoria's eyes fell on Sky, who was talking to Stella in the distance. The blonde caught her gaze, giving her a small smile. The brunette girl could read from his mind that he was feeling regret, because Stella was sleeping in his room last night.
The girl tilted her head in confusion, but quickly wiped her thoughts away and continued to walk. Victoria grabbed her sister's arm, pulling her with her.
"So... I saw you talking to that Sky guy yesterday," Danielle started, smirking at her sister. She rolled her eyes and clicked her tongue. "He's smitten with you!" She clapped her hands excitedly.
Victoria pushed Danielle away jokingly, gaining a yelp from her. "No! He's not smitten with me." She grimaced, trying to convince her sister.
"He's always smiling and looking at you." Danielle spoke as it was an obvious thing.
"Well... that doesn't mean, he's 'smitten' with me," The girl tried to reason, but she knew it was pointless. Knowing Danielle, she would tease her about Sky. Victoria thought Sky was only trying to be a nice friend and nothing more. "Let's not talk about this! We have a class with Miss Dowling now."
Danielle smirked, continuing to walk to the Stone Circle. She has always been teasing her sister about many things and now she found another one.
As soon as they joined the students, the Headmistress started speaking. She nodded at Victoria and Danielle, the corners of her mouth lifting up a little. "Magic lives in the very fabric of nature. And here in our circle of stone, it's magnified," Miss Dowling spoke as she strolled around a metal vessel. "The Vessel tests your ability to channel that magic. Your first year is all about learning the element you were born with."
The Headmistress nodded at Terra who came up to the Vessel and placed her hands right above the metal. A spectacular vines started growing, going up high. Victoria watched her roommate in awe.
"Earth, but also soil, sand, rock and all manner of plant life," She lectured the students, who were listening to her words carefully. "Water. The lakes and oceans of the world or the molecules that exist in all organisms around us."
A black-haired girl came up to the stone, creating a wave of water, completely focusing on it. Right after her, Musa came up.
"The mind. Thoughts, memories, dreams." The Headmistress smiled proudly at Musa as she sat down. "Air. Speed, temperature, sound." A red head came up to the Vessel, strong waves of electricity dancing between her hands. "And last, but not least. Chaos."
Victoria walked up to the stone and placed her hands in front of the metal bowl. Her eyes turned crimson red as a wisp of red energy strolled between her fingers. She waved her hand, lifting the bowl without any struggle. After a few minutes, she slowly placed the vessel on the stone.
"Telekinesis, psychic energy manipulation and much more," She looked at the students, before she sat down next to Bloom. "The emotions underlying it are the same for all fairies." Miss Dowling spoke, motioning for Bloom to come up to the Vessel.
The brunette girl sent the ginger a reassuring smile, trying to lift up her mood.
"Open yourself up to the magic of the world around you and push past your doubts. Focus on clear, positive feelings." Dowling said, glancing at Bloom expectantly
Suddenly Aisha spoke up, gaining everyone's attention. "What about your parents? Maybe focus on how much you love them?" She suggested, hoping that it will help Bloom somehow.
"It's not working, can we please move on?" Bloom sighed, before heading towards Victoria and packing her things into her bag.
