TW; UNDERAGE DRINKING

Aliyah had a love-hate relationship with parties. She thought they were fun but something always ends up ruining her mood at parties whether it's things like too many people, bad music, or simply, it's just her social battery running out for the night. Tonight is different though. She told herself that she needs to have fun if she wants to forget about Matt. She knew how to forget about Matt for the night, she needed to let loose.

So that's what she did, not just her, Alex as well. Cam was trying to keep them in line but met a cute girl along the way and went to talk to her instead of babysitting. Van and Jordan went to find their other friends that were also there so it really was only Alex and Aliyah.

"Are you having fun?!" Alex looked at the girl with a sour face considering they just had took their ninth shot of the hour. "Yes! But I need to have more fun," The blonde responded before grabbing the bottle of vodka that was on the counter and pouring it into the shot glasses again.

"You're gonna make me get alcohol poisoning."

"Oh please! You'll be fine."

The girls clinked their cups together before shooting the burning liquid down their throats. Aliyah put the glass down then cheered by throwing her hands up in the air and giggling uncontrollably. Alex furrowed her eyebrows at her friend then bursted into laughter at her antics. Aliyah was "hurt" that Alex was laughing at her so the girl slapped her friend on the shoulder.

"Wow, bad time?" Aliyah heard a voice by her and saw it was Vinnie Hacker beside her with a box of alcohol. He placed the box down on the counter in front of the girls. She smiled, "Hey Vinnie!" She gave him a short side hug then looked at her friend that was in front of her, looking awkward. Alex didn't know what to do. If she should say "Hi" and just keep quiet but Aliyah fixed that up quickly. "Vinnie, Oh my gosh, you haven't met Alex yet, have you?"

"No, I don't believe I have." He smirked at Alex which made her smile.

"This is Alex Harper. She's - amazing and so so so pretty," Aliyah hiccuped out and Vinnie tried his best not to laugh at the girl. "Is that so?" He looked the the girl who was across from him who just giggled. Aliyah moved her eyes to the box Vinnie brought. It was a box of Trulys and with her intoxicated mind, they were calling her name. The girl started to open the box, "Damn, didn't even ask for one."

"Vinnie, may I please have a - drink. Please."

"I was joking, dumbass."

"No need to be rude, bitch."

Aliyah opened the box and grabbed one to see the flavor was called, Original Lemonade. She clicked the can open with the opener tab and took a couple of sips before pouring more vodka into the can so it could be more strong. After she did all that, she saw that Vinnie and Alex were having some type of conversation but she didn't listen to a word they were saying. Instead, she heard a voice coming in the kitchen that automatically got her attention.

"Please shut the fuck up, Chris."

Aliyah noticed the voice and whipped her head around to see Nick making his way to the kitchen with a group of people. With Aliyah's intoxicated mind, she didn't double think about the fact that Nick didn't go anywhere without his brothers which meant they were also there but again, Aliyah didn't notice. Although, Matt was the first person who recognized Aliyah in the kitchen but he kept to himself. To make matters worse, seeing her with Vinnie made him clench his fists.

Matt was jealous. Of course, he would never admit that to anyone but he was. He should be by Aliyahs side at the party, not him. With his anger, Matt didn't even see that Vinnie wasn't even paying attention to Aliyah but he was talking to Alex. Only one person noticed and that was Chris. Chris eyes' immediately went to the girl he likes which made him smile at her but seeing the tall figure beside her, making her laugh, made his face fall in one second.

What was he saying that was so funny? Chris made her laugh like that last week, the dude isn't special.

Back to Aliyah, she saw Nick and automatically gasped. "NICK!" She ran the little space between them, stubbling with her drink in her hand, as she threw her arms around her friend. Matt and Chris were shocked at this. They didn't think the two still talked but apparently they did. "Aliyah, hey!" Nick smiled and wrapped his arms around her back. His face dropped a tiny bit when he smelled the alcohol radiating off her. Nick has been sort of a therapist for Aliyah lately, he knew everything she was feeling which why it made him worry that she was drinking, especially cause Matt and Kiara went public today, it all made sense.

"So, you're having fun?" Nick plastered a smile back on his face as the girl let go. She smiled as she nodded then proceeded to take another big sip of her the can. That's when she noticed the people behind Nick. His brothers. Her smile dropped, just like that. No one noticed but Matt and his heart clenched as she looked right in his eyes when that smile dropped. He loved her smile. He used to make her smile all the time but now, he brings a frown to her face, and Matt hates it.

"Hey guys.." Aliyah gave a curt nod at the group. She saw two girls beside Matt and automatically knew who they were, "Hi, I'm Aliyah"

Aliyah didn't really know why she did that. She might be drunk but she still has manners and even though she doesn't like these girls, doesn't mean she shouldn't be nice. "Hey! I'm Jada. It's nice to finally meet you!" The girl with long black hair spoke up with a genuine smile. The girl had small tattoos on her arms and wore a cute black top paired with a short black skirt with white stitching. "You're outfit is so cute," Aliyah gave a genuine smile back to her. She was telling the truth, Aliyah liked her outfit even though it wasn't exactly the blondes style.

"Oh my god, thank you! I love your top!"

Aliyah gave a quick thank you along with a small blush. Jada was actually really nice and Aliyah knew once she told Alex, she would be pissed. Aliyah looked at the girl that stood closest to Matt that she knew was Kiara but the girl did not introduce herself. The two were holding hands and Kiara was rolling her eyes and nudging Matt, insinuating that she didn't wanna talk to Aliyah.

"Well, I'll let you guys go. Hopefully, I'll see you guys later." Aliyah smiled at the group before Jada and Nick waved bye to her and the rest stayed silent. Aliyah walked away, back to Alex and Vinnie.

"So...how was that?" Alex asked the girl, a little scared what she would say. Aliyah looked at the two before proceeding to grab the vodka she brought to the party and taking a swig from the huge glass bottle. Alex gasped at her friend drinking from a damn bottle. "Guess it didn't go well," Vinnie trailed off.

    "Okay, Cassie Howard, let go!"

Alex took the bottle from Aliyah with force than screwing the cap back on, "I'm cutting you off for now. I don't want you doing something you'll regret." That made Aliyah glare at Alex. Aliyah didn't say one word before storming off. She was going to go find Cam, Van, or Jordan but Alex would of liked to had heard that from her.

Alex sighed at her friend, she wasn't mad at the blondes reaction considering she was very drunk already and just wasn't thinking right. Alex was just glad the girl didn't yell at her or cause a scene. "Sooo her and Matt?" Vinnie started asking. The guy was interested what happened because he and  Alex actually watched the whole interaction themselves and they felt the awkwardness from where they stood.

"It's a very very long story. But she's single if you wanna ask her out," Alex shrugged, thinking that's what Vinnie was insinuating with the question. Vinnies eyebrows furrowed, "What? Ew. No"

"EW?!" Alex gasped at the boy for saying that about her best friend.

"No, oh my god, holy fuck did I word that wrong. Definitely not ew. Aliyah is really pretty but we are just friends and I'd like it to stay that way." He spoke honestly, he didn't see Aliyah that way. She was like his little sister. Alex nodded with a small "Oh" and a giggle which made Vinnie laugh.

Alex and Vinnie continue talking until the girl felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned to see Chris standing there, looking sort of pissed but also sort of confused. "Oh uh..hey Chris," Alex made a curt nod towards the boy now in front of her. "Hey man, I'm Vinnie," Vinnie spoke up and presented his hand towards Chris who took it and shook it, "Nice to meet you, I'm Chris. Mind if I steal Alex here for a sec?" He asked as Vinnie did a sort of scoff-laugh thing.

"Sure, I gotta go find Jack anyway. I'll see you later, Alex."

Alex side-hugged her new friend right before he dapped up Chris. As Vinnie was walking away, Chris grabbed Alex's hand and dragged her away from the kitchen which made her gasp at the touch. "Chris, where are we going?" She asked but no answer came from him. "Chris, I'm wearing heels, slow down!" She spat at the boy who gave no interaction with her at all. He took her to this little corner by the stairs that no one was by. He let go of her hand, "What's going on with you?"

"What are you talking about?" She scoffed but she knew what he was talking about. Their texts earlier was weird plus she didn't even try to go up to him and say hi. "Are you mad at me or something? What did I even do?" The face he made at Alex made her feel guilty but she took a deep breath in.

    "Are you and Jada together?"

Chris mouth dropped at the question that just came out of the girl's mouth. "I'm sorry. What did you just say?"

    "Oh, you heard me!"

"NO! We aren't even remotely a thing at all. Alex, why would I date her? You know, I like you and that I have for awhile now." Chris words came out a little harshly but they were genuine. Alex sighed, she knew he was right. "You do?" she looked at him with the biggest quote on quote, "puppy dog eyes ever," she didn't even mean to but that's just how she looked at him and it made Chris melt.

Chris grabbed the girl by the hand, "Yes, I like you, a lot" he expressed the "a lot" which made Alex laugh. "I need you to know that I actually wanna be with you and no one else." Alex grinned as she pulled her hands away from his grasp and pulled the boy she knew she wanted into a kiss. Chris eyes widened but he kissed back because he wanted this and he didn't wanna let her go. This was the best night Alex has had in a long time.

Aliyah, sadly, wasn't having that same experience. She sighed as she opened the front door, stumbling out with the bottle of vodka in her hand, trying her best not to fall face first on the concrete porch. She sat down on the steps and leaned her head on the wooden railing. She closed her eyes and took a couple of deep breaths to calm herself down. She couldn't find any of her friends. She even went back to the kitchen to see Alex and the girl was no longer in the spot but she did find the bottle Alex took from her. Aliyah hasn't drank from it. She sort of only took it so no one else would take it and claim it as theirs.

After a couple of minutes of quiet, (only the beat from the music inside being heard), she felt a presence next to her and something in front of her face. She opened her eyes to see a water bottle right in her eye sight.

She looked up to see who was handing it to her and it was Matt. She scoffed and pushed the bottle away from her, she didn't need it, she was fine. "Take it, Aliyah." Matt was sturn with telling her what to do which made her roll her eyes. "No, dad, I'm fine."

"Fine." He rolled his eyes as she saw him mock his fine like a five year old, not getting what she wanted. He sat next to her on the porch which made her confused. "Shouldn't you be with your girlfriend or something?" She didn't look at him, she couldn't because she knew she would burst into tears and she wasn't gonna give him the satisfaction of making her cry. "She's fine. You're the one who needs help."

"I'm fine, Matt. I can take care of myself, I have for practically all my life."

Matt didn't know how to respond to that so he didn't. He just sat there. They sat in silence for a whole two minutes. Until Aliyah spoke up, "Do you - know why I rejected you?" She had her arms wrapped around her knees but she played with her rings anyway. Matt realized awhile ago that Aliyah does that when she's nervous, it helps her anxiety. "Uh, no. No, I don't," He rubbed the back of his neck.

    "I was scared."

Matt was taken back. He blinked slowly, "...Of me?" He was scared for the answer because he knew if she said yes, he would never forgive himself for making her feel that way. "God no. I was scared of - how you made me feel. How you treated me so good and I knew I couldn't give you that same love you deserve...I did like you though. I might still do, - I don't really know yet."

    "Oh."

"And it's funny cause - I didn't say yes to a date with you because I didn't wanna get hurt nor did I wanna get you hurt but in the end, we both got hurt anyway," She laughed but not in a happy way like her usual laughs. This one was cold and empty. There was no feelings behind that laugh. "You're hurt?" He asked like an idiot. Matt didn't know what else to do in this situation. "Of course I am. You're with that girl now and I actually really liked you and - you said you would wait. Why didn't you wait?" Aliyah's voice cracked and she still was still hiccuping between sentences from the alcohol in her system.

"I thought you moved on, with Vinnie?" He asked which made her scoff, loudly. "I told you multiple times, Matt, we are just friends."

    "Oh."

"Yeah, oh. And you wanna know what's worse?" Aliyah looked up from her rings and looked at the house across the way. "What?" Matt, at this point, was just letting her talk. He knew she was wasted and if that's what it took for her to let everything out to him, then so be it. "You moving on isn't what hurt me most. It was when you said - you no longer trusted me." She gulped and held back tears in her eyes. "Why did that hurt you the most?"

    "Because you lied."

    "What do you mean?"

"You lied because you assumed - I was dating Vinnie and didn't even ask me about it. You just thought I played you. That means you never trusted me to begin with, Matt."

Aliyah finally looked at the boy who sat next to her with tears threatening to roll down her cheeks but they didn't, they stayed still. Matt held back a breath after seeing her face, sorrowful eyes with a pout-like frown formed on her lips. He thought he was heartbroken but they hurt each other. They tore each other apart and Matt wishes nothing but to go back and change everything so he could be with this girl in front of him. But he couldn't. Aliyah sighed and finally grabbed the bottle and took a small sip, not like the one she took earlier when she first saw Matt.

She put the bottle down on the concrete after she screwed the cap on. She took a breath before laying her head on the boy's shoulder. Matt was shocked by the movement but he didn't tell her to get off or move her head. He just looked down at the girl, regretting what he had down the past few weeks with ignoring her, assuming the worst of her, and moving on to another girl when he just talked so highly of Aliyah like two weeks beforehand. "I'm sorry," He heard her mumble before she drifted off to a sleep.

"You have nothing to be sorry about, Liyah, I promise."
