waterloo road, series 3 episode 3

Despite Riley being younger than Max and Janeece they still let her tag along so she didn't look like a loner and if they were doing anything in which they could get into trouble for they would leave Riley out of the blame since she was on thin ice with her grades and behaviour already and today's activity was to con people from the neighbourhood surrounding the school to raise money for new kits for the girls football team.

So that's how Riley found herself standing next to Max in front of a woman's fence. "A girl's football team you say?" the woman asked.

"Yeah, we're in the squad," Max responded as Riley nodded.

"It's to raise money for the strips. Kits and boots and that," Janeece jumped in, selling their idea.

"£2 a ticket? a bit pricey isn't it?" the woman questioned,Janeece looking at the girls with a panicked look.

The look made RIley begin stuttering, "We're only doing a hundred tickets and the prize is really good. A week in Marbella."

This caught the woman's attention, "I don't usually do raffles. I gave up on the lottery years back. Never won a penny."

Janeece rolled her eyes, "The lottery is for mugs. You've got a brilliant chance of winning this."

Max agreed, "Yeah, get a few tickets, you're bound to win something."

The woman sighed, "Oh I dunno."

"Draws at lunchtime. Mr Rimmer's doing it," Janceece told her.

"It's your last chance, we won't be down this street again," Max told her.

The woman stared at the girls, "Oh go on then, I'll have five tickets, I'll just get my purse."

The trio were walking back onto school grounds with Max holding onto the box. "There's two hundred quid in there. That's nearly five hundred," Janeece informed them.

Riley looked at the older girls, "Do you think they'd actually check to see if they've won a raffle?"

The question made Janeece look at the girl, "Who's going to check to see if they've won a raffle?"

Mika and Chlo were walking Riley to english as Tom had requested that they did to make sure she actually went to lessons. "isn't Bolton in this class?" Mika asked when they got outside the classroom.

"Yep and I'm just the lucky soul that has to sit next to him," Riley answered with fake enthusiasm lacing her voice.

"You love it really don't lie," Chlo teased, ruffling her hair.

"No I really don't, the kid gives me a headache," Riley denied and Chlo and Mika looked over Riley's head smirking at each other.

Like the blonde had told her sister's she was "lucky" enough to be sat next to Bolton Smilie in Miss Koreshi's lesson.

Bolton tried to have a conversation with the blonde sitting next to him but was quickly shut down when she ignored every word that came out of his mouth or she gave him blunt one word answers which didn't stop him trying.

Miss Koreshi could not teach to save her life. She came in late and Bolton piped up,"How come we're not allowed to be late but teachers are?"

"Isn't that like double standards?" Riley asked and Bolton agreed and both of their questions got ignored.

She then tried to get everyone's attention, "Bags on the floor and books out!" Everyone in the class either looked at her and laughed or carried on talking.

Riley hated her lessons due to the fact it always ended with her having the biggest headache but she didn't know whether they were from sitting next to Bolton or the fact Miss Koreshi just couldn't teach. "I said bags on the floor and books out! Now!" Miss Koreshi repeated but got ignored again.

Riley had zoned out mindlessly doodling on whatever she could whether it be her hand or her book and sometimes even Bolton's hand if he didn't move it. The boy didn't mind her drawing on his hand since it meant she wasn't ignoring him completely but it did mean that he'd end up with girly patterns such as flowers drawn on his hand.

Bolton tried to keep his hand that the blonde was doodling on still as he turned to get the class' attention showing Miss Koreshi how to do it. "Shut up!" he yelled.

"Give me your hand please," Riley asked the boy who had moved his hand from her grasp.

"Sorry," he apologised and placed his hand back where it was moments before.

A student threw paper at Miss Koreshi.  "Miss you cant let him get away with that. Send him to the cooler miss!" Bolton's spoke up.

"Stop moving your hand away, you'll make me mess it up," Riley ordered the boy who threw some paper back.

Miss Koreshi then walked out of her lesson. Bolton and Riley looked at each other and shrugged and Bolton watched Riley draw on his hand.

Mr Lawson then came in asking, "What's this shouting?"

"It's Miss Koreshi, Sir. She's just done one," Bolton replied.

Riley stopped her doodling to look up and see Mr Lawson scribbling on a note, "Smilie and Riley, take this to Mr Rimmer and ask Mrs Morely to send a cover teacher to Miss Koreshi's room."

As the two walked to Rimmer's office Riley asked what the note said and Bolton opened it and read aloud, "Jasmine's done a bunk!"

Riley looked at his hand and said, "I think you should get that tattooed."

Bolton looked at her and then at his hand, "I might do."

"That's my best work I think you totally should," Riley replied laughing, making the boy laugh too.

Riley, Maxine and Janeece were in the sports shop when Max got Janeece's and Riley's attention with a pair of trainers.

They looked back and Janeece spoke, "Aw, they're mint. How much?"

Max looked at the price tag, "We could get a pair each, there's money left."

Janeece chuckled, "That's tight. Aw, what about the others?"

"We've done all the grafting, knocking on doors and that," Maxine responded.

"No, yeah, if it weren't for us they wouldn't have any strips or boots."

"I know," Max laughed.

The girls decided to buy a pair of trainers each. "Cheers. Still got £12.50 left that'll be enough for a few bottles of cider after the match." They picked up the bags and walked back to school.

Riley was standing next to Mika watching the football game when a group of old people who the girls had previously sold the fake raffle tickets walked on to the grounds. This got Riley's attention and ran and told Max and Jan who looked at each other with panicked faces and ran back onto the pitch and Riley ran back to Mika hiding between her and Brett.

"Riley, please help me out," Tom begged.

"I can't, my leg hurts," Riley replied, making him roll his eyes and turn to Mika who also refused to play.

With Miss Koreshi playing for Waterloo road they finally scored. Mika, Riley and Donte all cheered for Chlo when she was taking the penalty shot and scored which made Waterloo road draw with the other school.

When Riley got home she got a glass of water and went up to her room. She didn't hear Mika come up or enter her room until she heard Mika ask, "Was that your doodlings on Bolton Smilie's hand?"

"Yeah I got bored I was drawing on everything so stop looking at me like that," Riley replied.

"I wasn't looking at you like anything," Mika denied.

"Sure you weren't."

"Shut up and turn the tv on," Mika told her.

"So bossy," Riley muttered, rolling her eyes.

And within half an hour both girls had fallen asleep with the tv in the background. Before Tom went to bed himself he came into Riley's to check she was asleep and smiled at the sleeping girls and turned the tv off.
