Sonic's POV 💎

After we drank the rest of the tea, I looked over at Sapphire before noticing something on the table.

I reached over and picked it up before looking at it.

I suddenly felt confused.

"Um...Sapphire? What's this?" I asked before handing it to her.

Sapphire looked over as she took it before her gaze softened a little.

"That's a photo of me with my parents. The boy standing next to me on my right is my friend. His name is Aaron." Sapphire explained.

"We've been close friends since we were kids. Just like the day when you first met Tails.

And even though I wasn't there. I know you two are close because how you stick out for each other. It's the same atmosphere."

"Ah." I went, understanding what Sapphire's talking about.

Aaron's her childhood friend.

And by the tone of her voice, their friendship was just like me with Tails.

Only Sapphire's the scientist and Aaron was probably like me.

"Do you still miss them?" I asked.

Sapphire nodded.

"Yeah. I do. But...Not very often, like I did when I first met you and everyone else. I know they miss me too." Sapphire answered. "If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have been able to move on."

"That's true..." I replied, agreeing with her.

Then Sapphire sighed a bit before setting the photo back down on the table.

"That's why you mean very much to me, Sonic. Whatever happens to you, you're still the same and mean a lot to me." She says.

"I promised myself to protect you, like you did for me, if you're in danger and happened to get hurt..."

"Aww...Sapphire. That's very kind of you to say that." I said as I smiled before blushing a little bit.

"Thank you. I really mean it." Sapphire replies.

Sapphire's POV 💙

I suddenly yawned a little before starting to feel sleepy.

I looked over and noticed that Sonic was feeling the same way too, because he keeps on trying to nod off while struggling to stay awake.

"We should get some rest." I say before I got off the bed and stood up.

But, before I could take a step and head over to my bedroom, I suddenly felt Sonic grab my right shoulder and squeeze it gently.

"No...You can sleep with me. I don't like being alone. The only times I would want to be alone is if I was really upset about something." Sonic mentions as he looked at me, his eyes half closed.

I noticed that his eyes were glowing a little bit, making him look really cool.

They look like they're a bright shade of neon green, just slightly dull, when being reflected off by the moonlight.

I immediately grew fascinated by his beautiful, green eyes.

"Okay...I'll sleep with you, Sonic." I replied as I smiled a bit.

Sonic smiled back at me before we lied down on the bed together.

I felt him pull me close to his body after I pulled the blankets up to keep us warm.

Eventually...We dozed off as we held each other close, not wanting to be separated.

~3:00 AM~

As I was asleep, I suddenly woke up to the sound of heavy panting.

I looked over and noticed that the panting was coming from Sonic.

"Sonic? What's wrong?" I asked as I sat up.

"My body hurts really bad. I felt like I've been stabbed over and over." Sonic managed to say before letting out a pained groan.

I placed my hand on his forehead and realized that he was burning up.

Well...It felt like it.

"I think you're burning up, Sonic. I'll head downstairs and get some medicine to take care of that. Okay?" I say as I stood up.

"Okay..." He replied.
